Popular books you'll usually be able to Google to find out if they have those types of scenes in them. It gets harder to find for more obscure books, though.

Same!! I just always search on google if such and such book has any spice scenes. That typically says if it does, also seeing what the recommended age is for the book and seeing some non-spoiler comments that are from others possibly your age.

i totally feel you on the those scenes. and unfortunately for me, the newer books that are clean are usually for high schoolers nd i don't resonate much with as a 23 year old.. many booktok books have been left half read by me because of how much of the book is just graphic scenes of that nature it has and how without it, the story has little to offer.. and now if some book is going viral its almost 95% sure to have such scenes... good clean/ closed door romance books with characters that have more than one dimension are few and far in between..

that's EXACTLY how I felt about like the whole ACOTAR series. I don't even mind the spice that much, but I felt like every book was a slog until the last 50 pages when all of the plot was crammed in. SJM seems to overcompensate with spice what she can’t provide in plot. Throughout the ACOTAR series, multiple times the characters have perfect opportunities to offload their trauma and instead just end up in a spicy scene instead of talking about things. Bored of spice over plot which seems to be the popular route for publishing houses now.
