Haley, I think there's actually quite a bit to learn in the Britney memoir. It sparks some really interesting discussions on how we treated famous women compared to men and how sexualised female performers are at a young age. Britney's conservatorship is also like a throwback to the times when women were consistently institutionalised for being 'crazy' by their husbands and family, has anything really changed? The justice system and how exactly an *alcoholic* man was repeatedly put in charge of his daughter when he had vested financial interests? I think the memoir definitely has greater discussion points going on :)

Do women ever get tired of comparing their problems to men's? No matter how serious or not serious your issues are, why do some women feel the need to compare against men and have a tally chart of who is the most oppressed. Fame and hollywood treat both men and women terribly, thats why I dont understand why people go into that industry, or WHY you ever stay in that industry after getting used and abused
@nataliemanuel52036 ай бұрын
@@elizabeth.601 No, we don't get tired of examining and thinking critically of the systemic issues in that industry that effect men and women differently.

I agree with your take on celebrity memoirs cause it’s like a giant podcast (esp. when the author is the one narrating) that’s not them “media trained” and is unfiltered along with everything you didn’t know that you want to now about them. Paris Hilton’s memoir is like this too if you’re interested gives same energy and shock value

I recently finished remarkable bright creatures as well and I also gave it 4 stars my reasoning is because I wanted more of Tova and the octopus as the cover and synopsis of the book makes it seem that it was more about their story than anything but other than that it was really good and heartwarming ❤

I recommend reading “Star fish” by Lisa Fipps? It’s about a self conscious overweight girl named Ellie, she’s 12 and the book describes her life being overweight,it describes how she gets bullied for being overweight it’s very descriptive on Ellie’s feelings and how she has to deal with her weight and feelings.I’m almost finished with it(10 pages)there are like 240 pages it took 2 days to come to where I am now.Very easy read(imo) I have a feeling that you’ll think it’s bit mid.I definitely recommend it for people who are insecure in themselves or people who just want to learn more about different peoples lives,etc.I currently rate it like a 4-5 stars because I’m not finished with it yet.

I’m glad to hear you liked Atomic Habits and it seems like it’ll be helpful! I do recommend the podcast “if books could kill”, they do an episode about the book. I read it and listened to the podcast after, and I will say it opened my eyes a bit to how self help books are written and that we need to take them with a grain of salt. Not saying they can’t be helpful though! Anyway, been loving your videos!

It was incredible and I was also left with that feeling of longing once I was done listening. Especially since her life was also a troubled and long life full of accomplishments. She narrates the audiobook herself and she's such an incredible writer! Hope you read it! :)
