Great video as always, my only comment is be careful when you see overboarded ceilings like that, its usually because the customer wanted to get rid of the dated looking textured ceiling, and probably realized it had asbestos artex texturing. So they overboard it because its cheaper than getting someone in to remove the old asbestos coated plaster. Mr marsh was chipping away and eating it... Luckily artex is usually white asbestos, while still harmful, the body can break down eventually, unlike the blue/brown asbestos. Just dont make a habit of it and mask up if you gotta disturb it.

Loving your work boys. Fault finding someone else’s electrical bodgery is the greatest test of competence and endurance. I like the addition of graphical circuit diagram’s to aid understanding the problem. I do the same on paper just to try and make sense of the circuit arrangement.

@@dsesuk yes I’m the same. I got into the habit of keeping fairly detailed records with my first job, working in an engineering research lab. Everything was potentially patentable ( ha ha !). Keeping records has come to my rescue when revisiting jobs after some long time and saved potential embarrassment because the little grey cells wane with age (and alcohol). @@dsesuk Hi Dave, it was really hard work in my day, no power tools or personal protection, test gear was wind-up megger and neon screwdriver, I would really enjoys testing today because my whole working life as been fault finding TV engineer for 25 years, BT Laboratories repair and calibration, and Solihull college IT install networks and repair all PC.s in 3 sister colleges and 4 schools, until my heart failed and now house bound that's why I look forward to your escapades it keeps my old brain cells functioning, and good sense of humour. My personal opinion there will be a tsunami of failed neutrals once all these EV charges are installed and full loading on old creaking infrastructure i.e. buried old cables. Peter.

@@dsesuk I agree defo some holes to be made in the celling. I went to job the other day customer had a electrician in to a problem with there cooker when she touched the cooker and the hood at the same time she got a shock so the electrician found no earth on cooker supply so his fix was to run a 6mm earth cable from the socket under the sink on a different circuit undone one of the screws on the cooker Caseing wrapped it round the screw a few times and left lol. I was there just to hard wire a fuse spur for a washer. But found a junction box upstairs and the earth had snapped on cooker supply was harder for him to run the cable although the cupboards than to find the jb lol

What's the camera your using? Looks less faf than the ferret

The Ferret is a fine instrument, but I tend to forget to charge it. For quick access we usually fall back to the standard borescope camera, this one being a cheap RIGID model from c2012. I think it cost about sixty quid at the time. Sometimes the simplicity of it outweighs the effort of ensuring the Ferret is charged, paired, mounted on the right rod and good to go! Nonetheless, the Ferret can reach places the fixed borescope can't.
