Great Q&A video! I'm looking forward to what you'll share with us in 2025, especially the layout of your property. I've been wanting to see how it's all put together for a long time. A drawing would be especially great as I'm trying to figure out how I can do the same thing.

Great video & comparison on other years. 2024 was so dry. I plan to plant my Desert King Fig tree i bought from a slow grower so far, but hope it grows better in the ground. I have around 24 more Fig varieties I've purchased online & received locally. I've bought the Horticultural oil you recommend & bought my first backpack sprayer & already sprayed one application on my two Pluot varieties, Ornamental plum (came with the house 2006 build), my Elberta Peach, Aprium, & Apricot, & three Pineapple Guava bushes, as well as the Herb garden that had pests/aphids. I'm really hoping I'll get way more fruit production without the aphid problem...oh & I've found 3 huge ant colonies I've baited, so fruit production should be up getting rid of them I've ripped out multiple boxwood & other huge bushes, that were more just a problem & messy. I want fruit or berries & that's what's going it their places. Thanks for all your videos & tips. Sincerely, Matthew St George, Utah

@Alisorganics Yes... Multiple times, they are Delicious, reminds me of the Japanese candy I ate while living in Okinawa called HiChew. I didn't get any this past year, but we ate most of the petals that are also Delicious. I also found out that the way they are mostly pollinated is by those pesky little birds... so they aren't so pesky for the Pineapple guava & we didn't have as many birds because we ate the petals... so I guess we're not do that this year. I got into figs in February last year due to Aphids limiting my pluot production, as I've heard they don't have aphid problems & they taste amazing. Didn't try my first fresh fig until April last year, lol. I kinda went Fig Crazy. Biggest 2 are only 4' tall, another 3' & about 10 that are 2' including the Desert King I bought from you. The rest are just cuttings & most have rooted, just waiting for them to leaf out. Can't wait to transform my yard & have it be edible 😋

Thank you for this video. I would be curious as to the 20% of the items/food that you don't grow or raise,. I was raised on a very large farm and we had a hugh garden, my mom canned and preserved most all of our food, plus an apple orchard, black cherry tree, pear tree, black raspberries. We raised our own meat and we had our milk delivered from the dairy farm right by us and let someone have their bee hives on our property, in which we had fresh honey for the return. But, we still went to the grocery store for some items, and so I have always been curious as to what kind of items you would purchase to supplement your life. Thank you for possibly addressing my question.
@Alisorganics
@Alisorganics 18 күн бұрын
Thank you! I grew up with a mom that preserved everything! My dad hunted, the kids worked in the garden and helped preserve. We have honey bees, but they don't supply enough for us yet, so we do buy some from a local bee keeper. We have had several people ask us to do a video about the other 20%, and I think that's a great idea and I thank you for basically setting it in my head to get one done! I have it on my calendar for this spring! I love all the help have been getting with upcoming videos. So, while that doesn't answer you question right now, we will very soon! 😊

Wonderful video ! This year I am doubling my garden space. I am planting more potatoes, onions, root crops, winter squash. All the food that can keep through frozen winters. I am in zone 4. One of your videos last year showed red vein sorrel in your flowers. Great idea. I have copied that and have chard, kale, sorrel and carrots in my flowers. Thank you for all your work. Video idea. I have 3 year old apple trees that need to be shaped. Do you have a video for baby tree shaping. Your trees look like they could handle a snow load and be easy to harvest. Thank you again.

Thank you! I love that red veined sorrel in the flower beds. I planted a couple trees collards in some flower beds this year and I’m not sure I love the look of those, but the Georgia collards are pretty mixed with perennial flowers. I don’t have a video on small tree shaping. Good idea!
