A comparison of Half Life 2 running on an Original Xbox with a retail CPU, and an Original Xbox with a 1400mhz Tualatin CPU upgrade that is overclocked to 1662mhz.

​@@s727r I played the game this way as well back in the day, (I didn't have a PC), and I definitely noticed the poor frame rate, long load times, and bad textures. However, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and was playing Half Life 2!!!

Oh yea, man, that was so common for me. At 2004 I still used a PC that had a Pentium 3 CPU on board. 700 MHz and I tried to run this game. At some points the term "frames per second" literally flipped to "seconds per frame", it was nuts how slow it got but I pushed through

DUDE, I've wanted the answer to this for ages 🤯 please continue the game, I would love to see how the frame rate manages in later combat sections, the game can get pretty intense down the road! Also, is this with a RAM upgrade as well? Did you do the upgrades yourself or have it done? And if you had it done, where did you get it done? This is the dream Xbox for me to own one day, admittedly so I can play this exact game with the upgrades 😂 I'd love to have the info if you're able to provide it! I have a Friendtech that is heavily modded. Just FYI if you think this is easy to accomplish it isn't. HL2 really didn't start running right until the Stellar modchip came out or you really knew enough to patch the XBE correctly. Using generic XBE patches still made HL2 run weird. Most videos did not play correctly until Stellar came out. Once you enable their cpu patches and XBE patches then many games do indeed take advantage of a faster CPU and 128MB RAM correctly.

Yes, it almost seems like the console has a cap of 30 FPS for some reason but believe it or not the newer Xbox 360 S and E only went up to 30-32 FPS as a max on games like GTA 4 and 5

The XBox's controller ports are just USB 1.1 with a different form factor. You can build an adapter and attach a USB keyboard - I wonder if hitting ~ on a connected keyboard would be enough.
