This is a detail I’ve never noticed, but I really like that even if you step on the sand before it’s explained what antlions do, the guy will still mention that stepping on the sand brings antlions out, so that you don’t just completely miss the tutorial.

I have been curious how just stepping on the sand angers the ant lions. Especially when you can throw grenades, shoot missiles, shoot guns all at the sand with no effect, but one single toe on it even with no other motion, they come. I feel they got that wrong in development.

In the franchise, there are NPCs that are fated to die and you try to save them In the first game there is the elevator falling with scientists in, you assume that it was your fault for pressing the buttons but it falls anyway if you enter the elevator's pit. There's also that security guard that's waiting for you when you reach the level on an elevator and he's killed by an Black Ops with a shot in the nape. There's one in Black Mesa that's funny, after the crystal accident, when you leave the test chamber there's a red laser that destroys one of the security guards, Gordon had enough time to help him but all you can do is watch him being turned into beef.

Yeh I've been trying a lot but the game was made with script that doesn't allow for u to be able to determine that he lives or dies. The guy will still say "poor Laszlo", but it is possible to play the game where the guy who is not hurt initially to die and not die.
