What Half Life does better than other shooters could be summed up in the HEV suit. Attention to detail. The suit not only serves to make the HUD more "credible" it also reminds you that you are within the Black Mesa: your workplace which is dangerous. The voice is so fucking professional too: has a detached and very clear, almost authoritative tone. It has to send very important messages concerning your condition. "Vital signs critical. Seek medical attention".

Alonso de Hojeda HEV also allows Freeman to move around with major fractures, full of bullets, and more. Heil morphine and hi-impact reactive armor. And the fact that HEV is not suit, but vehicle (exoskeleton).
