I’m also log siding my timber frame I have the ship lap looks g siding I thought I could hid the screws or nails or is it necessary to screw the front I didn’t want to see the nails or screws thanks

If your material is only 6" or 8" then you might get away with just screwing the hidden tongue. Our material was a full 10" and we want our laps to be tight & not let any wind get under any siding, so we put a bunch of 2.5" GRK Finish fasteners in them, usually every 3' and closer to the bottom of the board so it would hug tight on top of the hidden tongue underneath. The finish holes are so small when they stain the log siding you can't even see the penetration after.
