I met a guy who climbed everest about 6 years ago who told me there are even ultra expensive prostitutes who live in base camp, ranging in price from 700-5k/hour. Their tents are near the party tent. Wealthy people hanging out anywhere for 2 months straight are gonna have that stuff, but they've also got to keep it hush hush because prostitution is super illegal in Nepal.

@@joermnyc yep. They still do it, they just make sure that the women who do it have valid other reasons for being there, and have plausible deniability up the wazoo. Pretty much right on except for when I was there we didn't have any Wi-Fi or any phone service it was much more remote feeling no such thing as beds and beautiful tents with workstations. I called you from a satellite phone twice during my whole time there because it was $8 a minute we talked on Mother's Day at least I talked to you you were young and couldn't comprehend at the time but I told you how much I loved you and I was going to be as safe as possible and I have to tell you I turned around because I knew you were at home and there was a possibility of me not making it because of a storm coming in. @@michaelmccarthy4615 - nah, it looks like a conventional climb spends a month at base camp, both getting acclimatized, but also setting up the 4 different higher camps that you'll need to use to get to the top. (See 1:40 or so.) That being said, it does cost money to fly in and hike out. But there's a lot of cost involved in that month at base camp as well. In looking it up on the interwebs, it costs between 1.2k and 2.5k to get from Katmandu to base camp; (Add in another 2k for plane tickets from the USA?). In contrast - yeah, it looks like it can cost anywhere from 15k to 50k for the whole package.

Everest is the tallest mountain only if you use sea level as a baseline. If you measure from the mountain's base to peak, then Mauna Kea in Hawaii takes the honor at 33,497 feet, most of which is below sea level. Apparently it was due to a copyright issue with some of the stock footage. I don't know why he never just reuploaded it with the footage removed/replaced.

I love it how people say they "conquered Everest" when they didn't conquer anything. In reality, they successfully submitted Everest and made it down without dying.

@@ConflictFan No way! I thought all the US retailers have bern killed by Aldi and Lidl. Which I would rather expect in Shenzen than a CostCo since Germany and China are not in the middle of an ongoing trade war. But China and the USA are.

Wait so do the yaks just walk from lukla to EBC on there own, or is there a person guiding them on that trip? Because that B-roll made it look like they just know the route and will follow it independently, and if that’s true, that’s REALLY cool.

2:25 Correction: Everest is not the worlds highest point, the worlds highest point is Mount Chimborazo's peak since the equator budges outward and its the tallest mountain on the equator which puts the top of it farther from the center of earth than the top of Everest
