Nice video. working through. At 29:40 Shoot filished. Nice to know. Is that a word!. I got one of these Monday so 5 days ago. The battery did nothing right out the box, or back of the drone!. Sent battery and the little charger (the cheap base spec option) in a jiffy bag. They got, new one sent, see tuesday, was hoping for today. Drone I cant use, never fired up. Had Hubsan cheap thing for some time from July 2019. A DJI Spark March 2021 until last July. A break, now got one of these I cant use, no power :). One to try in the week, Wont to use for the towm events, King Charles and Camilla coronation events on sunday downtown. Wont to much on KZbin with it, tried all that and a disapointment. Got for me and the odd google maps photos for them. Now to carry one. Thining 30 minutes at the best. Never need to go under 20%. Best for the battery and gives time for unexpected things. Seen the videos, out they go so far and start to get back into the wind. Battery low, flat, drop over the sea, lake, byby drone. We all seen those.

hey there i got my mini pro dec 2022 all the features work but after the last update my zoom is only x3 not x6 but the zoom is recorded on the video ps i dont like xmas so HAPPY HUMBUG

Friend, the obstacle sensor must be calibrated following a firmware update, otherwise forcing activation does not work well. Once calibrated it works regularly

31 mins of flight time with 12% battery remaining is pretty solid...granted you were mostly hovering but still. That's more of a "true" 30 min flying time vs 30 mins (or less) with only 2% (am I going to make it back or not..white knuckles Dustin Dunhill RTH) battery level. BTW, some drones will not ascend to RTH height if the drone is within X meters of your home point...they will simply attempt to return directly to the home point. It makes some sense to do it that way (i.e., ascent 200ft just to RTH to home point 30 feet away). Not sure if that is what happened with your RTH. It would be nice to have an option to select the type of behavior you'd like to see in this scenario.

For sure but the tree wasn’t in the direction of the RTH. It was odd. The GPS was going crazy at that time

@@HalfChrome Ok..couldn't tell from the video footage. Maybe you had a GPS disconnect? HZMP has seen some interference of GPS connection due to a metal piece of tape that they left inside the drone (not sure if that was intentional) in the initial build batch...maybe that is the problem? Also noticed that you only had 6 satellites when you took off. Strictly speaking you should only need 4 but I never takeoff until I have 8 satellite connections. I wonder how many active Satellite connections when it flew towards the tree? You were flying close to your house so maybe some satellite connections were blocked by the house. If you have the patience it might be worthwhile reporting it to Hubsan and providing logs. It might save someone else from losing their drone or an eye. I'm jussayin...😉

We did not remove the metal tape piece. Could be the issue. Had 11 seats when it went nuts

@@HalfChrome Tape could be part of the issue. Remember that the drone needs sats to accurately mark the home point. So as an extreme example if you took off with zero satellites and then flew off and then later you got you 20 sats during the flight that wouldn't matter as it wouldn't have gotten an accurate home point location at takeoff. Not saying that this is the problem but it's possible that low sat count leading to an inaccurate home point mark and the tape could all be contributing factors. Or it could just be a wonky Drone. Perhaps the only way to know would be to look at the log files. The log files might show what it thought was the home point GPS location and/or it might show GPS connection issues at the time it started to RTH. Also can I assume that this flight in the video was the first flight of the day (i.e., you hadn't flown earlier and recorded a different home point that it still remembered?) I saw this happen with the DJI Mini 2 and they initially thought it was a fly away. LOL, I should be FAA investigator...I love a good mystery. 🤣

Wait for Autel evo nano. It’s also going to have forwards and backwards obstacle avoidance and it’s from a more refined manufacturer. If I find the link to the post with the specs I’ll reply to this comment.

Thanks for the review. Just curious, when drawing a selection box for active follow mode, would it not help to keep the box small and limited to the object that will be moving? Surely selecting a whole load of asphalt too will confuse the system. It'll be trying to track you and a stationary surface. Has anyone experimented with this? Cheers. :)

Hubsan is no longer selling drones in North America. You can get the EXO mini but it’s not cheaper

It should be noted this was not a flight test. It was a hover test. Fun fact hovering drains the batt faster that flying. This could do 40 mins on a windless day. Or mission planning into the wind : If one flies outward into the wind with a slow but steady altitude gain the trip back home is more of a gravity fed glide back to base hardly bothering the battery. Like a gyro-copter.

The return to home and app is why you get a better and more refined drone like an autel or even better dji. Hubzan just hasn’t put in the work to make the app not glitch like text on the screen glitching or not going to the correct altitude for return to home. Those could crash your drone and lose it for good. issues with obstacle avoidance, this drone just isn’t refined yet. So wait about 6 months to buy this if you plan on getting it. If you want a mini drone sooner, like within ordering in a few days, wait for the autel evo nano to come out. It will be more refined and just better with a little less flight time.

I thoroughly enjoyed the video, it was very educational. I certainly wouldn't pay five or six hundred dollars for that piece of poopy, the color on my screen was gradient it wasn't smooth, looking at the sky. Apparently you need a firmware update to properly enable obstacle detection, as you say it doesn't seem to avoid or go around anything. I would love to see you fly that thing out in an open field, and test some of those features. Thanks for the video, happy flying.

30 minutes is great sure they claim 40 but i dont really care about that , the problem i have an issue with is the blueish tint in the footage thats a huge problem for me ,more like a deal breaker ,im sticky to my Mini 2 and honestly i dont need those other features really and half of them dont even work properly on the HZMP

The Zino Mini Pro looks promising but is not ready for prime time. It's at least 2 years away from being good. The Zino Mini 2+ Pro Super Max 2023 Special Edition will be good.

I have had 4 Hubsan products and all but 1 flew away or randomly dropped out of the sky within 20 to 30 flights. The last one is fine cause I don't fly it. They consistently make lousy products and this one is no didferent...and for more than the Mini 2? People must be nuts if they buy one.. I dont have any confidense they know how to make a solid drone like DJI or Autel
