This drone almost looks better than the pro mode in many ways. It seems like a really good drone!

Yup, given the price difference, seems better using SE given longer battery time and that object avoidance isn't necessary if you are flying well (esp. since it doesn't avoid side impacts)

I drank the DJI coolaid and paid $1500 for a DJI mavic pro for my vacation to Nantucket last year. DJI made the whole island a GEO zone/No fly zone. Couldnt take off without FAA approval which I couldnt get. No vacation pics, no video and I had to carry the damn thing all the way there and home. Done with DJI. I bought this drone and I can fly anywhere, anytime and no registration required and DJI cant record my flight data and turn it over to the government. DJI video may be a touch better but if you cant get the thing in the air, does it really matter? Love this drone and bought it because of this review. Thanks Man

Great review as always! Nice field-expedient landing pad! A floor mat from your vehicle! As to the weather where you are, Steve, Ottawa must have a different climate than Toronto. I lived in Toronto for a couple of years back in 1967-69, and my overall impression was lots of clear weather, even during the winter. Obviously it rained and snowed and so on, but I loved the climate. One memory I had of the area was someone saying that that area of Ontario (that juts down to Michigan and New York) has the nickname "Banana Belt". So perhaps the climate _is_ better down there.

Do you have problems with the horizon, cause there is this horizion adjust button. And are there some gimbal glitches if you fly fast for a long distance or in cold weather? I really want to buy this but i am not sure, cause the dji mini se doesn't have any technical problems. In your opinion, Hubsan sells a product when it is at least 80% complete. At what level do you think the Zino Mini Se is now. After all the firmware updates. I'm just undecided because of the camera things and i want to have a good All-rounder. I am looking forward to a recommend

I have not used the SE in awhile so I'm not certain where they are on the updates. My suggestion is to go on KZbin and search the the HUBSAN MINI SE and add a FILTER for UPLOAD DATE. This way you'll see the newest videos from people who own this drone and you can then tell if all is well.

You know Steve, For $440 this is actually tempting. Is the OA on the Pro version effective? How would you compare and rate the cameras on both of them? I appreciate you showing this.
@CAPTAINDRONE7983 жыл бұрын
Cameras are very similar, but on the PRO you get a few more pro camera settings. The avoidance works as it should be it is not a SMART avoidance. In other words the drone just stops without crashing and will not attempt to fly around the object.
@thepresentmoment3693 жыл бұрын
I just got done setting up the OA on the Hubsan Zino Mini Pro and I can say that it works really good. It's worth it to set it up and it's not that difficult if you follow and guide and have a decent computer or laptop. I programmed mine on my Windows 10 i5 3000 series laptop.
@DannyFyffe3 жыл бұрын
@@thepresentmoment369 That's good. What is your overall take on this quad? Steve made it sound pretty good.
@thepresentmoment3693 жыл бұрын
@@DannyFyffe , my opinion is only regarding the mini pro. I would say it is a good drone and has lots of features and good specs. Especially the camera sensor. But Hubsan is still updating and unlocking features on it and improving over time. If your looking for a totally complete drone then the Mini Pro is not it. If you want it totally complete then you'll have to do some work and also wait on updates. But I would say that that's any drone now days. The companies are making products that are not 100% done before the product goes to market. The drones now days are put to market about 80%-90% complete and then the public is the testers. This goes for all the big name brands as well. I would say if your willing to do a little work to get the Obstacle Avoidance system running perfectly and have patience on updates for unlocking certain features then yes the Mini Pro is a really good buy. And I suspect the mini se will be a good buy as well but I don't own that one. Let me know if u have anymore questions.

I would argue that it is in competition with the DJI Mini 2, and even the DJI Mini SE, as the attraction of the Sub 250g drone is initially their weight. After that, you then start looking at Price, Brand and Features in whatever order is important to you. So if you want active track out of the box, that rules out DJI Mini models (for now, that will change shortly, or you can get Litchi or whatever other 3rd party apps work with various versions of the Mini). If you want obsticle avoidance, Hubsan it is (at least until Autel actually start supplying the Nano and until the Mini 3 launches). If you want the long flight time, Hubsan wins again. If you don't trust or want the newer brands, then you can buy the DJI product. Etc.

Thanks for this review, Captain Drone. Interesting to see that the batteries on the SE are interchangeable with the Pro. Are the controllers also interchangeable? If you use the Pro controller on the SE (assuming interchangeability) will it increase the range? The screw was difficult to turn and I was able strip the phillips screw out. Could you advise HOW to get that stripped screw out with out tearing things up ? If I cut a slot in the screw - it may get metal into the motor - not good. If I use vise grips to crush the prop and get a purchase on the screw - may also crush the female threads that the holds the prop screw ? I do not care to have to send my bird back for service in China. May not see it again. Comments appreciated. Thank you Dennis

How can we review substantive Hubsan drone reliability and customer service data/information (not just unboxing and flight demonstrations) to make an informed purchase decision?
@CAPTAINDRONE7983 жыл бұрын
You will have to create a company that does surveys of customer satisfaction for Hubsan Products. After you do that, it will take about a year of gathering data for you to have some idea. Once you have the data, please feel free to share it with potential hubsan buyers. Or you can just visit any forum or AMAZON site and read all the comments from newbies that have difficulty with technology. What I'm getting at is that if you are not a child, then you realize that in life if you line up 100 people who have purchased Hubsan products and ask them their opinion, you'll always get the 80/20 rule. 80% will be satisfied and the other 20% not satisfied. This applies to every products and company in the world. This is also why when you go on FORUMS and AMAZON, it is only the 20% who are usually there because humans are mostly happy with items in life and would never get any work done if every time we were happy with everything in our day we wrote a positive comment somewhere.
@RandyRadar433 жыл бұрын
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Sorry, I may have framed my question the wrong way. I 'm not certain how you perceived it, but it was honestly asked of you because of your depth of experience. I think part of the answer may be that companies like Djj and Autel (maybe others?) appear to have US-based (english-speaking) customer service capabilities; whereas I don't think Hubsan does. I asked about Hubsan because I had a laborious email exchange with them about a crashed Zino Mini Pro. The time delays and tough english exchanges has made it difficult to work my issue. So, thanks for your KZbin videos for new products as they are both fun and technically informative. And, maybe I answered my own question by asking if a drone company has US-based customer service before I make my next drone purchasing decision.
@CAPTAINDRONE7983 жыл бұрын
@@RandyRadar43 I think you answered your own question. Companies like DJI have repair shops around the globe. In addition Just imagine what it must be like at a customer service center listening to people new to drones describe their issues. I can tell you that I receive no less than a hundred emails per day from people asking questions about issues they are having. In most cases it is always user error and I can problem solve that. The people at service centres are hired off the street with no background or problem solving drone abilities, then add in the language barrier. This is why DJI rarely solves problems but instead tells the owner to send the drone in for repair. Hubsan does not have as many international service centres so they have to try and solve the problem with people not that great in that regard. If I get a hundred emails per day, just imagine how many Hubsan receives daily. My advice to newbies not good with technology is to purchase from a drone store in their country where they have access to the store staff to answer questions.
