As a music guy... you know as well as I do that the microphones are strategically placed and oriented to capture as much sound on the field as possible with multiple technologies. It has nothing to do with the loudness of everyone. You're telling me I can hear 1 QB yelling on the field during 3rd down and that's louder than the crowd?@@riythemusicguy7696

Even though the football team unfortunately lost, the band gave us a great show like usual. Keep up the amazing work TBDBITL! Born and raised in Michigan, alumni dispersed throughout the entire family, attend games at Michigan Stadium regularly, and I must admit, as the Michigan Marching Band is incredible, the OSU band is also incredible and a significant part of what makes these experiences so great and memorable. Amazing sound, combisition, and movement. Script Ohio looks super suave. Overall. not quite as good as the Michigan Marching Band, but amazing nonetheless.

Halftime? When I marched, this was the pregame set. Their athletic department really took their pregame time and sideline seats?! Here I was thinking at least we showed up their band with an awesome Elvis show. I've read about this happening to more and more bands. I thought the B1G programs were better than that. Well, whether it's for commercials and greed or pettiness, I hope our athletic department treats them in kind next year. They could make a lot of money off the good seats we usually give visiting bands.
@johneaston19711 ай бұрын
The same thing happened in AA two years ago. There was no pregame and the band was forced uo to the rafters of Michigan Stadium. I guess we have to fight fire with fire here and play tit for tat. Next year in Columbus, no pregame for the UMMB and stick them in the top rows in C Deck. Ball's in your court Michigan. If you treat our band with respect, we'll treat yours the same way.
@Truttle111 ай бұрын
Last year in Columbus the MMB didn’t do pregame either, and did the pregame set for halftime.
@calvinrichard11 ай бұрын
B1G doesn't require schools to allot any time for visiting bands to do pregame or give them non-nosebleed seats, so nobody does. The SEC at least requires visiting bands to get lower bowl seating (idk about other conferences).
@WillGrimm62311 ай бұрын
So to sum it up, the Big Ten changed their policies during covid, and they took all visiting bands off the sidelines during games. As a result they all ended up on top of the stadium. From there, they’ve only usually been able to perform once during games, so it’s usually been during halftime, but Michigan and Ohio State both have chose to perform pregame shows during halftime. Ohio State has done it twice in Ann Arbor, Michigan did it last year in Columbus and this year in East Lansing. MSU didn’t do it when they went to Ann Arbor, though, and Ohio State didn’t in south bend
@WillGrimm62311 ай бұрын
Also notably Ohio State did run a regular pregame show in State College last year

Michigan also has the advantage of having a fight song that transcends culture and time. Ohio State's fight song is catchy, but "the Victors" rhythm, cadence, and poetic lyrics to inspire the entire stadium to sing makes for a unique and one-of-a-kind experience. When they all go "hail! HAIL!" to Michigan.....it's undeniably beautiful and powerful.
