@@denisechaney9822 Ok, my ass....lol.... sure they dont crank.. and they most definately got blew out....but. damn near every kid on that band can solo on their instrument like the ones that were chosen.... some of the best musicians in the country play at memphis.. they literally STUDY their instrument.. how ever, their director is from California and the marching band culture on the west coast just isn't as intense as it is here in the south.. he just doesnt understand..lol

@@khanyisaharunube4147 Yeah it's a different band culture for sure. It's just as intense but in a different way. Those kids aren't worried about "blowing out" or "beating" another band. They're focused on musicianship first, showmanship second. See Ohio State's band for example. They are animals on their instruments and their field shows are entertaining in a different way. *I'm saying this as an HBCU/PV band alum. There's no bias.*

The Memphis band did not get to play their whole show either . Both memphis & SU has to shorten their halftime shows. Plus the away team’s band always gets a shorter performance than the home team’s band. That’s just the way it is cause it’s the home team field. Same thing happens to the Memphis band when they travel to away games as well 🤷🏼‍♀️

Im a Memphis fan and dissapointed they didnt get more time.....Very impressed at how they did Earth Wind and Fire (Memphis is where Maurice White was born)

Due to the amount off other stuff going on, the warm up time at the end of halftime and the fact that both band have longer shows they were both limited. However, the home team always allows a visiting band to go first. It was the length of show that band could do without stopping in the middle of a song. Memphis didn't play their full show and left the opener off. In college they don't give extra time at half-time like they can in high school for the visiting team. That's ok though, the SU Brass band played a lot during the game. So did the #MSS! GO TIGERS GO!

The University of memphis' director of bands is from California, the band culture just isn't the same on the west coast. He doesnt understand "battling" and the stuff we cherish here in the south.

Half-time is shortened because of the NCAA. NCAA stated games were too long so they cut half-time instead of asking teams to move quicker, or eliminate stopping the clock after incomplete passes cause everyone knows marching band half-time shows are the reason college football games 5 hours long.

I been following SU since I marched in the band and their only flaw to me in loudness, I could never understand what song they were playing. That's not always a sound..ijs

Same thing happened when they played Tulane a couple years back. May have something to do with TV time for the games. But Memphis and Famu sound pretty close. Field show are similar as well.

Hate when schools limit us to only so many minutes...seems crazy...especially when I hear announcer say..."will now do an infield drill to the tune of Give me a reason"... but they go right into concert band... he shoulda said "NOT"... LOL... Gosh, that's one of the shortest ever tho... Oh well.... sounded good... looked good.... (had to look 8 times before I found the cymbal player. :) yeah, part of the show....

SU band wasn’t as lit as they are at other times in this game because they could’ve shook that whole stadium in many ways.. but Memphis held their own tho!! And they sound good...
