Robert Schumann (1810-1856) was a German composer, pianist, and influential music critic. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest composers of the Romantic era. Schumann left the study of law, intending to pursue a career as a virtuoso pianist. His teacher, Friedrich Wieck, a German pianist, had assured him that he could become the finest pianist in Europe, but a hand injury ended this dream. Schumann then focused his musical energies on composing.
Until 1840, Schumann wrote exclusively for the piano. Later, he composed piano and orchestral works, and many Lieder (songs for voice and piano). He composed four symphonies, one opera, and other orchestral, choral, and chamber works.

Robert Schumann certainly made some majestic compositions during his life, even if pneumonia tragically stole him away at only 46 years.💗❤️‍🩹💝🥲

Did you all know that just last night I watched an analysis of Träumerei and fell immediately in love with the dreamy romance of Schumann's music? Thank you for helping foster my blossoming love for another composer's works just as it was beginning to bud. I will listen to this music with not just pleasure but reverence for the meditative beauty that Schuman put into it.

Thank you Ros! 💛 'Widmung' means dedication in English and Schumann composed it in 1840, the year he got married to Clara Wieck 🌼

These "Best of" compilations are really nice, keep them coming! Also, I think it would be nice if you could do a series on every major composer of classical music, from the medieval to contemporary, that would be lovely!
