OK Ally - you have to stop promoting Nova Scotia. I live in Halifax in the winter months and spend the summer and fall months months in Cape Breton on the Cabot Trail. You have done such a good job - we are going to be overrun by visitors. You and your partner did a wonderful job of capturing the area. One oversight though was the Fortress Louisburg. I guess you will have to come back and check that out.

That corvette you show at 4:26 is the only one left. Also when I was a kid, I thought real cannon balls came out of the Citadel and were making a pile in the harbour. The sad thing about how Halifax treated the Titanic graveyard is at the time, Halifax was smaller, and they did not want the Titanic graveyard inside their city. Now, Halifax is much larger but you wouldnt know that otherwise. Glad you enjoyed the “chickens of the sea”. Also the Pizza Corner had one of the places replaced with one like yogurt shop or something. If you go to Edmonton, they do have a place called “Grafton and Blowers” which are the 2 street names.

For years I've felt that Halifax would be a great NHL city. The NHL does well in Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Winnipeg, Montreal, and Vancouver, so why NOT Halifax? Hockey is very popular there, it's a very big city, there's no other NHL team nearby, so to me locating an NHL team there would be great for the city.

@BuckarooBanzai333 Жыл бұрын
I grew up there, I can't speak of really how many black people live there though, there are defineitly some! My experience is that Nova Scotians are laid back and quite welcoming. There are also many tourists over the Summer from all over the world coming from different cultures and ethnicities. I wouldn't think you would feel out of place.

Ooo!-Ooo!...I'm a maritime history buff. Me! Over here. Well, more of a Halifax & NS history buff. Freak, tho, is really the better term. Anyway..... Really nice video. Well done. Nicely worded. Now, at the risk of coming off as a bit of a knob, I really just want people to have ....the knowledge (dramatic music) The 5 Fish: Used to be Snow's Funeral Home, and they processed the 1st class victims of Titanic. 2nd & 3rd class bodies were laid out on the ice of the Mayflower Curling Club on Agricola St. Fort George aka The Citadel: Victorian era, yes, but it's a French design. What we see today is the 4th incarnation of the fort, this one being started in 1828, and completed in 1856, thereby setting the standard for gov't-funded construction projects in NS. ( I used to be one those guards, tho I wore the uniform of a different regiment. Maritime Museum of the Atlantic: Of the two ships out back, HMCS Sackville is a museum unto itself, and a memorial. It's actually not associated with the MMA. But the CSS Acadia, a survey ship, is the last vessel still afloat from the Halifax Explosion. Lot of people don't know that. Fairview Lawn Cemetery: There are 150 Titanic victims buried in Halifax. There 121 at Fairview Lawn, which is non-denominational,19 at Mount Olivet Roman Catholic cemetery, and 10 in the Baron de Hirsch Jewish cemetery, which is not open to the public, and has one non-Jew buried there. Halifax wasn't the closest port to where Titanic sank, St. John's Newfoundland was. But Halifax was far more modern and more importantly, it was on the mainland and had a rail connection to the rest of N. America. lol... wife & I stayed at The Prince George on our wedding night. Well, I hope I didn't come off too pretentiously, but history is my drug. Well, one of them 😉 Really enjoyed your video. Well presented.

Pity the sold Theodore tug boat to Ontario. It used to be an iconic landmark in Halifax. Halifax is a lovely city as long as you don’t have to drive in it. Too many one ways and crossings on corners.

If you are planning to visit Halifax or Nova Scotia, please do not. Because local government does not like tourism, they are not welcoming tourist. The local government make new law to prohibit resident to operate short term rental form their property from 2025. If you like to visit Halifax, be prepared to pay 200% cost per night for your stay in hotel instead of Airbnb or booking f try on 2025.

Wow, vibrant?? I'm here now and it seems like a dive to me. Dirty, tents with homeless people living in parks. I am disappointed that I came. The Public Gardens were very mediocre. Admittedly the Maritime Museum was interesting. Some great old buildings downtown. But my overall impression is that I can't wait to leave! Probably having just come from the UK doesn't help.

The prices here have skyrocketed making housing unaffordable to many. This is not the norm here and is a problem being actively worked on. If you find the unfortunate offensive then stay away. This is a world wide problem, but we don't hide it and we try to get our homeless as much help as we can. During the pandemic people moved here from all over Canada and the world, driving up the cost of housing and buying up all over the available property's. Increasing our population by almost 1/4 th in just over a year. We are now trying to catch up with demand and inflation has really affected our province.
@vincentprice40769 ай бұрын
You went to the Public Gardens in Oct and found it “mediocre” and a city was filled with dirty tents and homeless people? Says more about you than Halifax, I’m afraid, but best wishes with that
