There are a lot of restaurants around here. In my experience if you find what looks like a hole in the wall place or a mom and pop shop that’s where you get the best food. When we go out to eat we tend to stay away from any franchise style restaurant, they are generic.

If an outsider wants the absolute best donair available in Nova Scotia, Tony’s Donair on the commons (2390 Robbie Street) is the place you need to go. All these other grease laden slop troughs destroy a good donair with greasy cheap ingredients. Tony’s is fresh not greasy, the sauce may drip a little while you eat it but it’s just sauce, meanwhile the others will be dripping some nuclear sludge with a funky greasy sauce. Born and raised in Scotia (50+) years, the last donair I ate from KOD (Clayton park) left half uneaten on the table and the other slightly eaten half in the receptacle after a fierce mouth watering event (this one) 🤮. Tony’s is the only Donair you need……..

@@wherearewe-yt I totally get that, NS is becoming one giant food court, so many good places to eat and giving your opinion isn’t always easy…..I was just stating from my point of view having had donairs from Yarmouth to Sydney I’ve never found one better than Tony’s, I’m glad you went to Sicilian though because in all seriousness KOD made me violently ill the last time I had it, and prior to that I always found them so greasy…… Keep exploring and putting in curious to see what’s out there……. Donair is doner kebab.... Just a different take. A pizza is a pizza regardless of topping.
@wherearewe-yt6 ай бұрын
By that logic, a gyro is just a doner kebab as well. All you've changed are all of the ingredients. Different bread, different meats, different vegetables, and different sauces. Much like a donair. No one would called a gyro a dober kebab though. By that same logic, a calzone is just an empanada. It's folded dough stuffed random ingredients. Kebabs in Turkey look nothing like a donair. We should know..we used to live there. There are many types of kebabs in Turkey - and none of them are like a donair. If you're changing every single ingredient of a dish, it's no longer the same dish. The gyro and doner kebab are clearly where the donair comes from, but they taste nothing alike. If anything, the gyro is closer to the gyro - which is quite literally where the *Greek* inventor created it from.
