I'm with Mrs. Canuck's reasoning, you guys should put in the effort to make such special dining special in EVERY way, and memorable---my husband always made great effort to create memories and that's what remains of our 53 shared years! Think about it, and choose extra effort for better results. She IS right!

When we went to Halifax the highlight for us was Pier 21. My mom and her family immigrated from Italy and that was their first stop. Very emotional place to see. My mom’s family was the largest family in 1955 to immigrate from Italy to Canada. 😊

Wow, a tad late commenting on this vlog!🙃🙄 It's a shame Peggy's Cove was foggy for you. It is a beautiful spot. Loved the travel scenery to and from. The Public Gardens looked spectacular! Pier 21 is so interesting. Yes you definitely need to revisit Halifax., OMG Mrs Canuck's formal dress is swoonworthy! I'm in love ❤ ❤ ! Where do you get your dresses Jill? Always enjoy seeing what food is on offer in the various venues on the ship. Cheers to beautiful Halifax and to another fun vlog! It's wonderful to see some Canadian ports highlighted. Cheers from London, Ontario! Hugs to Bruno!

Of course the fog lifted soon after we left Peggy’s Cove. We thought getting there first thing in the morning was the way to beat the crowds but if we went a little later the sun would of been there. Dress shopping has become a hobby for me. Any chance I get I’m checking out the sales rack. In Canada most of the dresses are from Winners. In the States Ross is my favourite dress shop.

When I was on my cruise, we also stopped at Halifax. I saw the Titanic exhibit at the maritime museum. Then we went to the cemetery where the people recovered from the wreck site were buried.

On the boardwalk, not to be missed, is the Maritime Museum and restored ship, there. Another place worth revisiting on every trip is the Bicycle Thief Restaurant with wonderful delicacies and a view of the harbour across the boardwalk---amazing food top to bottom of the menu. Take a beaver tail back to the ship for a treat w/ coffee or tea (serves more than one!). The Citadel has guided tours and live firing of it's cannons at noon daily. Better than Peggy's, in my opinion due to time driving there back and forth. (Will finally do Peggy's Cove next July on my 3rd trip to Halifax!) Don't forget great native souvenirs at pier 21 as you return to the ship! Halifax is a favorite port requiring multiple visits. This itinerary in October's cool weather and leaf show is outstanding---and no hurricanes....

Halifax is my hometown. With the exception of two years teaching in Manitoba, Halifax and the South Shore of NS has always been home. The fog at Peggy’s Cove didn’t seem to dampen your spirits. At least you didn’t have the summer crowds to contend with. The Maritime Museum, Pier 21, the Citadel, the Fairview Cemetery (Titanic graves) and the Boardwalk are all great tourist stops. Hope you come back for another visit. Time limitations always make it challenging to choose activities when in port, but if you ever have more time, plan a trip to Lunenburg (a UNESCO Heritage town & home of the Bluenose), Mahone Bay and Oak Island. Another great cruise vlog! Thank you.

Up until this year, I would have totally agreed with Mrs. C about formal night clothes but there are reasons people have for their choices. In the past, we cruised 4-5 x/year and over the past year, although we took 4 cruises, we had to cancel 5 others because of serious health issues which came on unexpectedly. We are now in between treatments and as we are healthy enough at this time and in between treatments, we decided to book a short cruise close to home, just in case some other issues arose. We tended to dress to the "nines" every night on past cruises but we just wanted time to chill and relax over this cruise and did things differently by going casual each evening. That is not to say tshirts and flip flops, but rather, (sorry about the name dropping) wearing Ralph Lauren white linen shorts and Cubavera shirts for hub and capris and nice tops for me. Translate that into having to lug less luggage (minus the usual suit bags we would always bring) and less time dressing for dinner. We were never turned away to eat in the MDR and although we were rather concerned we would be ostracized and frowned upon by our (somewhat expensive casual) clothes, it was the right choice for us over the past cruise completed less than 10 days ago. At least we were able to experience what possibly would be one last cruise in comfort and together. That's the name of our game. Happy sailing to all on one of those seven seas!

The last cruise that we went on was only our second cruise in 16 years...I couldn't get my husband to even wear a dress shirt and tie, let alone his jacket. He was in a very disagreeable mood and rather than let it spoil my evening, I "allowed" him to at least wear a subdued Hawaiian shirt that matched my dress color. I choose my battles... *sigh*... obviously we didn't get any photos or anything... we had a nice time, but I was disappointed. On a side note - I am absolutely LOVING this cruise vlog! Between the ship and the sights that you've gone to - I would definitely book this cruise!

Halifax is a really great place. We were there more times than any other single place. Have to try the Swedish Pancakes one time. That is a very historic light house and is the most photographed. My wife and I were here on our tenth anniversary. That memorial wasn't there when we went. My wife liked lobster roll. You have to keep going back to Halifax. That's what we do. The Titanic stuff is on the top two floors. It is very interesting. In the Immigration Museum my wife and I took a fifteen minute trip across Canada. You have to go back to Halifax several more times. We have and I still love to go. One time in Halifax they were doing road work and we got delayed getting back to the ship. There was a group that got back to the ship even later than us. I like cheese tortellini. Both your dinners look good. Some sort of chocolate melting cake is on every Carnival Corp. owned line. I like to wear at least a blazer and dress pants with some sort of tie for formal night. I know there are those that don't even like to wear that. Bar Harbor is nice, but, I like Portland, ME a little better.

Halifax is a beautiful city with so many things to do even within walking distance of the port. We don’t think you will be missing out by not going to Peggy’s Cove. When we were at the pier in Halifax there were taxis that were offering tour to Peggy’s Cove. Not sure what they were charging.
