I would like to thank you very very much, the wonderful Witcher community, I really appreciate all the support over the years. I also want to thank CD Projekt Red for creating the beautiful masterpiece that is The Witcher 3. This is the end of my adventure with The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project, although in the future there are possible small updates adding things that I was not able to finish. Anyway, thanks a lot and enjoy! ❤

Next Gen by CDPR was very poorly developed (and likely rushed) still massive RT issues, HDAO not working correctly, rasterized shadow settings broken etc etc.

@@George-um2vc oh yes, I'm not at all happy with how the next gen upgrade was engineered - apparently they used wrappers around the old APIs, didn't properly account for the changes in the rendering, and there is far far too much single threaded code causing bottlenecks. Maybe some day another team of capable fans will be able to fix that too.

This guy didn't just change the textures, he also changed the asset quality. Polygon count is noticeably higher now. This is incredible. This single man turned Witcher 3 into a true next gen game!

It’s a great mod for sure but there are plenty of people at CDPR who can create high quality meshes and textures. The reason mods will always look better is because the base game has to be made playable on consoles and low end PCs, whereas mod authors aren’t obligated to do the same.

​​​​​@@psychoticchemist its bs lol. High quality textures have no impact of performance if you have enough vram. Consoles have plenty of vram. Besides, you can always turn down texture quality to lower and disable demanding textures. The reason why one passionate modder guy makes better textures than a hundred of wage workers is the difference in motivation, there is nothing else that stops them from making good quality optimized textures. Btw, this mod uses like 500mb more vram than the base game lol. You literally have 0 reasons not to use it unless you already can barely run the game, like if ypir GPU has less than 2GB of vram. But its not even the case with consoles lol

@@Averageenjoyer-br1zm You say the only difference is motivation, but developers do not have the luxury of spending years working on a single mod like this guy did. Developers are working on a deadline that they didn’t choose, with far more tasks to complete than solely working on textures. High quality textures aren’t even really very difficult to create, especially if you’re already developing a new game in which all of the required textures are being made from scratch anyway. The difference in effort between a mid resolution texture and a high resolution texture is fairly negligible. Plus, the meshes and textures of the Witcher 3 were some of the best around when the game initially released, so pretending like they were just lazy is nonsensical. And VRAM isn’t the only consideration, developers are obligated to keep file sizes reasonable, and high resolution textures can massively increase the storage requirement of a game.

@@psychoticchemist you can go on Nexus and see that Halk Hogan released the first versions of this mod in 2015 lol, already improving lots of textures. They surely had much more time, resources and people than one modding enthusiast, yet their textures were stil subpar to his work. Remember, ypu compare the work of one guy to a AAA studio, witcher 3 was a AAA game with tens of millions of dollars of budget. And no, witcher textures weren't considered particularly great even for 2015, in fact, i read in some reviews that its the weakest part of the game's graphics overall. You argument about game size is just straight nonsense. His complete version of the mod, that basically changes every texture in the game to 4k resoution weighs 12GB. If ypu consider that they replace probably a couple gugabites of assets, its like 10GB increase in size. Not a lot even by 2015 standards, nothing for today's age. Literally nothing. Today's games like COD or Stalker 2 easily weigh 150, 170, even 200GB. Yeah, they surely care about your storage space lol

I've had some issues with art direction related decisions with these sorts of HD rework mods in the past, they are always obviously higher quality textures but just the overall art direction is still important and gets lost with the upgrade. This one here is by far the best and most respectful of the original art direction I've seen. Superb job mate. This is a huge achievement.

Very good job. What I admire the most is how you changed the look of corners of stone walls, towers and buildings. No more sharp, streight edges. The corners eventually look 3D and naturally. 👍

I know I watched the preview preview a while back... All I could do for the first 90seconds was laugh like damn that "next gen" update really didn't update anything because I played with those textures back in 2021/2022 because of you and others lol. I've been waiting for the free time to open up to jump back into TW3 for a second go around... just don't know when ill have 150 hours smh. Installed this with 19 other QoL mods. Game looks absolutely beautiful. Also did the FG stutter fix by copying the Cyberpunk DLSS files to the TW3's. Game runs so well now! And looks so breathtaking thank you so much Halk!

This is incredible! This is the best texture re-work I've ever seen! Thousands of re-textured assets. Thanks for making The Witcher 3 look timeless for many people to enjoy now and in to the future! I played this first on the X-Box X at 30fps and then I managed to purchase it on PC in 2020 to play again, as I think it's easily one of the best single player game's out there (and it's looking like it will stay that way with the current state of the gaming industry) and I never finished the DLC and all the side quests. Only KCD has come close to this great game.
