It got me through a very hard time in my life and I'm just thankful to CDPR for it.

It literally does. I started playing this after I finished Dragon Age: Inquisition. I was so distraught because I'm a Solavellan. Literally cried for freaking hours. Man what an immersive world. I dont even play it to just do quests all the time, sometimes i just wander around to see the world, sightseeing and seeing what kind of trouble I can get into. That game is a gift, Im glad RPG's continue to thrive, theyre a wonderful escape. Theyre much more than just a 'game.' As someone who started with Zork, a text adventure game around 1980 lol, to play something like the witcher is amazing. #geeklifeforever

Some encouragement to my fellow Witchers. After 40 years of gaming i am now 61 i can assure you there will emerge sooner or later more master pieces as they did before this one. However each master piece will be part of your life and the older you get you will charish them as i do because those are part of my life. My first was on amiga2000 called Fate Gates of Dawn somewhere in the 1985 or so. Took me over a year and 56 A3 pieces to map and finish it. In technical aspect of course nowadays looks like shit back than it was great. Through the years i found quite some gems and they are all part of my journey through life. Each in their own way. The Witcher 3 is one of them.

I remember that 4 years ago I started to playing this game. I felt in love immediately. So, I had a best friend, her name was Varinia, she was the best, but at that time we had some discussions and we were separated. Although I was waiting for the moment to talk to her and play this game together; just as we played many other games. But a month later she died. I still remember that I was playing The Witcher 3 and then my phone rang and they told me that she died. The first 3 months I was so depressed that I couldn't do anything. Everytime I wanted to play this game made me think of her, I wanted to enjoy this game with her and I decided that I will. I enjoyed this game for me and for her, as she was there by my side. This game was unique in my opinion, in terms of the experience alone. Especially playing it the first time, even though the game is truly gigantic, and even after many, many hours of playing and replaying; you kept finding new stuff all the time. There is no game that I ever played that had this much of an impact on me. They throw you into this world, and you become part of that world, more so than in any other game. You start feeling at home in it. After having fully completed the game, with nothing more to do, you still spend hours just traveling the world, climbing mountains, sailing its seas. But then the world becomes empty, most of the characters you got to know and love or hate are gone, and you do start feeling sad. You have already done the new + game, and so you start all over again, and play through it again, taking your time, collecting as much stuff as you can; I literally collected every single weapon, clothing and armor piece, item, painting, etc. I could possibly get my hands on. I think I must've restarted the game completely at least twice. In the end, it's all just a great memory of the best gaming experience you've ever had. You put on the game's music every now and then, in the background, and the music takes you back to the icy, mysterious island of Undvik, the beautiful lands of Toussaint, or the eerie swamps in Velen. Getting drunk with Eskel and Lambert, dealing with the Bloody Baron, finding Ciri on an enchanted isle covered in fog, and helping Olgierd and his beloved wife.. it really was an amazing journey. I hope CDPR returns to this franchise in the future, and gives us a fourth Witcher experience, because no matter how cool their new Cyberpunk game is, to me, the world of the Witcher will probably always be the most memorable and fascinating. I still miss it when I listen to its wonderful soundtrack.
@alexa.davronov15375 жыл бұрын
I hope one day they will fix all drawbacks of the third Witcher and release it as latest game but completely polished. I personally don't ask for the Witcher 4 cause the third one was logically completed journey and the only way to expand it to make a separate stories of characters, but it would never be a classical 4 cause there are no books left for that.. > _But then the world becomes empty, most of the characters you got to know and love or hate are gone, and you do start feeling sad._ I was devastated at this moment. Literally not knowing what to do with my life. The Best Characters Ever. The Best Soundtrack Ever. The Best Game Ever.

"They throw you into this world, and you become part of that world, more so than in any other game." This is exactly what they did in Shenmue. This whole thing of making the game "alive" where you become part of it feeling and you feel like the npc are your friends or family is what they did in Shenmue back then in 1999 where each NPC had unique dialog and programmed daily schedule you could see them get out of their home in the morning for work then head back home at night. Witcher was greatly influenced by Shenmue you can clearly see it, especially the whole making game alive and family feel. That is why CDPR publicity thanked Shenmue for innovating the concept of "Open world games"

Back to that feeling - I remember when I played the game for the first time, it was truly special, discovering every new area, new characters, connecting with them, the funny moments, the bad moments, the sad moments, this game is an incredibly polished and expertly crafted rollercoaster of emotions. I miss that time when I played this game for the first time, sometimes when I listen to Witcher 3 music I feel those "first playthrough" emotions and I instantly get butterflies in my stomach :-) it may sound odd to some but that's how I feel about The Witcher 3 - a masterpiece.

That moment after 3 hours playing, presumably at 3 AM, when you're already tired but so in love with the game. You remove completely the HUD, you walk to a river, or to the port of Novigrad. You take off Geralt's clothes and jump into the water. And you can even feel the cold water, the wind on the wet skin, the smell of the port,... And then you walk out of the water, put the clothes on and just feel like if you really had taken a shower. The way this game immerses you in a completely different world it's just magic. And to achieve that with fucking 3D figures covered with pictures called textures, that ladies and gentlemen is art.

When I finished this game along with DLCs I just started to sail in the Skellige and was listening to the song Apex from Existence by Aleks Michalski (axen.bandcamp.com/track/apex ). These Witcher games are special. I haven't felt this way about a game since the first time I play morrowind. I always feel this rush of nostalgia when I hear the morrowind theme or hear or see anything from that game. This is the modern version of that. Years from now I will feel that same rush of nostalgia when I remember the adventures of Geralt of Rivia. The Witcher 3 is not perfect, but it is the best game I have ever played. I never thought something would be able to top Morrowind but the story, characters, environments and music here is beyond words. Even though i got this game for free with my graphics card I wish there was a way I could let them know just how much I appreciate this. Maybe I'll buy it for all my friends and spread the word of The White Wolf. Damn fine work CDPR, damn fine work.

@Death-Sensei Well, we also have to remember that The Witcher series has an excellent set of source material to create from. Most of the ground work was already done, CDPR's job was just to bring the world to life and tell their own stories based off of what lore the books could provide. RDR is an R* original IP. There's no long established book series to pull from. They had to do it all from scratch, pulling from previously established lore of the two other games that weren't fully fleshed out. Those games being RedDeadRevolver & RedDeadRedemption. It makes perfect sense that The Witcher would feel more fleshed out when you consider what they had to work with. However, CDPR could learn from R* and make their world a bit more interactive beyond Gwent and the amount of lady Cheeks that Geralt can Clap. (I actually wish RDR2 allowed for that, like they do GTA). Even though I probably wouldn't use it, it makes the character feel alive. Like a person who has wants, needs, and desires. Being able to sit down in taverns/inn's and drink til' you pass out, play cards or other mini-games, or stop and make camp in the wilderness under a beautiful sky while cooking game you've hunted, feeding yourself and your horse, bathing, sleeping in inn's. Honestly, it all just adds to the feel of the world. Making it feel more alive, further immersing you in an already immersive world.
