That was one hell of a performance!!! WHO can beat that?! Nobody! I was mesmerized watching this whole show. And I couldn't believe how completely, and extremely confident Daryl was, like he wasn't intimidated by all of those people! To watch him, he looked like he was born to perform!! Let me tell you, Daryl can entertain!!! And I kept eyeing up his outfit. Well fitting leggings, a popular stylin' shirt of that time. And he never seemed to run out of energy. And John Oates looked happy and in the mood for performing too, like he was totally into it! With the fireworks going off in the background, and the torch coming ablaze lit, at the Statue of Liberty, it was a party!! Yeah!!! I wonder how long Daryl and John took to come down off of the high that that performance brought them to?! That was truly exciting boys! I am so proud, and I didn't even know about this until now. Thank God these memories, captured in this video!"

This here video is very special to me. I have seen it at least twice, maybe three times. And I wanted to place a comment on it earlier today, but I had suffered momentary "writer's block". Now, I am finally ready to say how I really feel about this cherished video. Well, I am forever amazed and totally impressed, out of my mind practically, how awesome this is!!!! I could not take my eyes off of Daryl! He looked SOOO good in this. Not that he doesn't look good in all of his videos, but this one in particular, he exudes extreme confidence! And the reason that I had struggled with what to say earlier, is because I was slightly intimidated, by how extremely confident he was in this, because it didn't make sense to me. Looking at all of the hundreds of people in the crowded audience, how come he wasn't afraid, or unnerved?. Daryl seemed to actually be super charged, and on fire with tireless energy!! WTF?! Or, I tried to reason with myself, thinking that maybe this is what gives him a high, so that might explain his award-winning performance? The bottom line is, it was a fabulous show, Daryl was showing off his talent, (and looking damn good while doing it), with all the electrified highly energized body movements, constant movement. Maybe Daryl was just letting his light shine, doing what the Creater created him to do!!!

Just call him John "sexy swivel hips " Oates! He's grooving to his music, all over the stage. Love it! Daryl, well he just oozes, a sexy coolness, that I can't get enough of either! ❤

Daryl is of course rocking out, GE is having a great time, John is a dancing madman (look at those ankles), but I wish they had shown more of T Bone. That being said, thank you so much for posting, great video!!

Daryl rockin the 80's look and Mick Jagger at the same time. And the sax guy echos Clarence E Thomas to me. 🎉OMG John and Daryl were so young. No shade to H&O who didn't sound like their studio cuts. Live is live and musicians do their thing. Fans wanted a show, not a studio cut. This performance? Classic. You'd never get THIS on an album. Thanks OP for posting this. Good times. 😎

It still gives me the chills to see this concert, after all these years. Their version of "Hot Fun" is as good as the original. I love them all, and GE Smith is a god. T-Bone Wolk RIP.

I love how it's a mixed crowd, usually when i watch concert videos for rock bands it's like an (no offence to anyone, i'm just saying) ocean of white people! Same thing but other way around for some rap artists. But H&O have different fans of different backgrounds which i love so much! Everyone's attracted to H&O's talent!!

@RainMan68 Daryl is just one of those rare performers who has so much natural charisma & energy. He never needed any help letting it show. I never got the impression he was coked out. I guess when kids these days see what true talent really was, they have to find a way to discredit it 'cause it is so foreign to their present experience.
@suzi-q-tips652 жыл бұрын
An they say old washed up these kids now in the industry really don't have a clue if the real raw genuine true heart an soul talent that H&O have . They paved the way with real music talent not some fake auto tuned slush so called music H&O are 100%real genuine talent not some marketing mock up that's yick

David Gillespie it was a joke..... and I would not be surprised if they did do drugs. A lot of musicians take them because they say it makes them more creative.
@kellyenorris50546 жыл бұрын
Sorry to disappoint you, but I know three people who worked for Hall & Oates back in the 1980s, and they didn't do drugs. Hall has said in several interviews that while he smoked pot, he stayed away from anything heavy because he tends to have weird reactions to drugs and he was afraid of having a bad reaction. I also heard that one of the reasons Hall & Oates didn't do any projects with David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks after LiveAid was because Ruffin wouldn't stop using, so Hall dropped him. The Temptations were Hall's idols, so he had to be pretty anti-drug to cut Ruffin off.
@jamievanburen6596 жыл бұрын
Texas Tabby Yes. I wasn’t saying that they absolutely DID do drugs. I just wouldn’t be surprised if they did. Like I said many musicians do because they say it makes them more creative. Thanks for sharing though!

Not hating on the band, I love Hall and Oates and this song in particular, but if there was ever an example of a disconnect between band's recorded stuff and live, this is it. Just cant reproduce the same material live as they could in a studio.

@joshuawalker89779 жыл бұрын
maverickjohn923 you have it backwards, my friend. the songs are slowed down for the studio albums...to make them more precise and crisp. the songs in concert...thats the way they were written to be. I give you Kiss, and their albums versus their live songs.
@sandyherron43916 жыл бұрын
maverickjohn923 not time!!! I love this energy.. especially for a live concert. I’m a fan too. How many thousands in the audience? They do not look offended, They look like they were having a blast. Wish I could have been there😟
@jamievanburen6596 жыл бұрын
They didn’t rush it to much. The song they wrote is 3:12 long, but this live concert was 4:22 long
