When you get sued and don't make any payments towards the judgement against you, your license is automatically suspended. I don't know if that's why this guy's is suspended, but that's the case in many of these other videos. Source: I got sued for $1,200 when I was 19. My license was actually suspended even though I was making payments, and I couldn't get it back until it was paid in full.

Hey Rob messed up on this one. This Ethan guy is legit! I called him to install my mailbox. He came right over, took my down payment of $6000, and said he'll be back tomorrow with my mailbox. Edit: He called today and said he's in the hospital with Herpeghonnasyphilaids. I sure hope he gets to feeling better...poor guy. Edit: They cured the Herpeghonnasyphilaids but, unfortunately, the CIA has him in quarantine because he was poisoned by the North Koreans. This guy can't catch a break! I feel so bad for him. Edit: The CIA released him from quarantine but on his way home from the secret CIA base in Port Huron he got into a forty vehicle pileup and is the only survivor! I'm starting a GoFundMe to help pay for his medical bills. Edit: He's recovered from the accident but on the way home from the hospital someone pissed off Bruce Banner and when he hulked out he threw poor Ethan's truck into the river and now Ethan has no way to bring my mailbox. Edit: I'm starting to think Ethan may not be telling me the entire story here

I'm a contractor we have a contract that you signed and the company signed which legally binds us legally binds the client to pay the amount legally binds the company to finish the job completely so on so forth and everything the contract states and the client will pay half down and then the other half when the job is finished no one gets screwed. That way like that one person said if the client wants to act grimy and not pay at least the company only loses out on the labor and a little overhead yes it sucks and it happens more times then you think not only can companies be grimey like these people that we see in the videos but so can the clients just as much if not more and at least we get the material money back that one person said it perfectly. We have a 90% repeat customer rate so for the one person to say companies that charge money down are unreliable and bad companies you either got burned in the past and one company ruined it for the others like it always goes or you don't know at all and have never been burned and you're just talking out your ass either way I resent that.

I moved to Michigan a few years ago and am blown away by how many people drive without or a suspended license. There seems to be a culture of it being the norm. Most of the people I've ran into that continually drive without a license seem to act without impunity. One person had driving on a suspended license 25 freaking times and still had a car driving around casually. Just ridiculous!

He said he hit him so hard he landed in front of his own car. He was still making payments on the 100,000 dollars it cost him over two decades later, and if he failed a payment .. they pulled his license. Very bad news if you do have an accident without insurance, especially for the guy you hit.

When hiring a contractor, ask for a copy of their State license, ask for a copy of their insurance. If they have neither on them, or start double talking, FIND SOMEONE ELSE. If they don't have their name or phone # on their truck, a license plate, or an office you can visit. FIND SOMEONE ELSE! If they pressure you for a deposit when they meet you not allowing time for a decision. If they don't give you excellent customer service. If they seem shady in any way. FIND SOMEONE ELSE!

Yes yes yes and yes. In my state if the job is over a thousand dollars the contractor must be licensed and insured. Never front money for work or materials. If they have no license then they are a handyman and in my state they can't do plumbing or electrical in addition to the 1000 dollar rule.

I'm a contractor and that's one of the reasons I charge half down and half when the job is done it makes everyone feel secured and of course I have contracts and stuff that you sign and I sign so it legally binds us to finish the job and to get paid full am out it the end of the job it just makes everyone all the way around feel better and it's the way things are done. Its companies like this one if you can call the company that give good companies that actually do the work and that are actually there for the client to help them in any way possible and get the job done in a timely fashion while doing a great job a bad name most are repeat customers not every customer is a repeat they all have their reasons but 90% of them are.

Newsman asked Rob why people don't check Angie's List or something like that. I had a friend who owned a lumber company and he said not to use Angie's list. The contractors who go through them have to pay them for refering them for jobs, so the contractor will charge you more to cover what they had to pay Angie's List. He said the best thing is to talk to the local lumber companies or plumbing supply stores.
