Dire quality short, very, only about 1min 30 of Hallelujah Freedom Top Of The Pops 2nd November 1972 taken on someone's home video and retrieved by Kaleidoscope which I have now added to my personal collection ... dark days ... but unfortunately all we have .... everything else was wiped ....
Track rerecorded for the show but with live vocals ...

The Chanter Sisters vocal input sounds better than Doris Troy and Barry St. John who sang on the vinyl version - possibly because they were mixed too low on the record.

@@taffyterrier Barry was a friend so I'm biased. I loved her and Doris on the original but I'm also a huge fan of the Chanter Sisters so both versions are first rate to me :)

So glad You Tube fed me Reflections videos and now this. You're the first upside down guitarist I ever saw - and I never noticed !! When I saw Doyle Bramhall 11 on Roger Waters " In the flesh" dvd I was blown away. Same with Gypsy Kings and you were at it 50 years ago ! PS What a beautiful piece of writing Reflections is - be proud of yourself.

Great vocals and BV's. Funnily enough, at this time my girlfriend's parents were in charge of a children's home, and Ed Stewart came along in his Triumph Stag to open a fete - he was the grumpiest "doing you a favour" person I've ever encountered. Though he was doubtless lovely and charming otherwise.

he could be a pain in the arse but I liked him ... when my house was for sale in Sunningdale he came along with his then wife Ciara to have a look .. I knew him well by then .. my very young 3 year old son asked for "uncle" Ed's autograph and he refused .. I didn't see it, but my son Paul never forgave him ... neither did his mother .. most of the radio jocks back then were dickheads, full of their own importance ... little has changed

Isn't it just ... that's the Chanter Sisters .. Doreen & Irene .. you know them .. they weren't on the record but as the show was live vocally, they helped me out ... the BBC Club, we sure did .. think we left the following Wednesday

@@JuniorCampbellmusic IMO the Chanter Sisters inject more life into the song than the gospel singers who did backing vocals on the original vinyl version. This made for TOTP recording sounds fully formed, vibrant and infectious. It would have looked stunning in colour if the BBC butchers had retained the master. I wonder if Pete Zorn made any other appearances on the show between November ‘72 and his performance with Driver 67 in January ‘79.
