You didn't mention how those 7th grade kids were all named after the OG production crew of Halloween '78 (John, Deborah, Dean, Nick, etc.). That was one of my favorite Easter Eggs in the book.

I would’ve liked the movie more if Michael had more of a presence in terms of stalking and killings. I’m glad you brought up how Laurie doesn’t even ask Corey about the mask. I’ve been thinking the same thing. Why isn’t she surprised that he’s wearing it? I’d think she’d want to know where he got it and also try to find out where Michael is. She probably should’ve said something like “Nice mask. Did you make it yourself?” That would let the audience know she doesn’t think it’s Michael’s mask. I also would’ve liked some resolution for Hawkins. If he feels guilty about accidentally killing the cop in 1978 and covering up his involvement in it, he should confess so that he can get some redemption. Both Hawkins and Corey accidentally killed someone and seeing how the town treated Corey could’ve made Hawkins feel even more guilty about how he “got away” with it and want to make amends.

Loved the novelization a bit more than the movie. The part of Corey taking the mask makes more sense, especially with dialog

1) As I said, remember the way Allyson thinks of Laurie's recovery as "performance art" -- because it plays directly into the ending! 😉 2) Also, that _one single line_ towards the end of the novelization makes it abundantly clear what happened between Corey and Michael: you can't take it back if you don't give it. 3) The kids doing the seance asking Michael to protect them from bullies further illustrates a pervasive problem with Haddonfield ... (welcome to small town Central Illinois -- personal experience). 4) By the way, did you catch how the karmic cycle is continuing from joan's past? What she did to her sibling and what happened to Jeremy? *5) With 3 & 4 in mind, take a breath, 'cause I'm going to make this huge point that pulls 3 novelizations together (the Original, 'Kills', and 'Ends'):* The level of karmic cycles in 'Ends' is amazing. It's so close to what I said after reading the Novelization of the original 'Halloween' and followed it with 'Kills': There's a karmic cycle trying to be broken. What happens in '78 hearkens back to the ancient Samhain festival and what happened. Enda (one letter away from ENDS) approached the village hottie, who immediately shunned him and ran into the village claiming he tried to defile her. The whole village turned on him, and he became the pariah. When he flipped out and got revenge on the hottie and her new fiance, the whole villlage displayed an instant, insane bloodthirst and literally ripped him apart, lynch mob style. Fast forward to 'Kills', and you see the entire "village" -- Haddonfield -- flipping out in a weird level of bloodthirst. They drive someone who is NOT Michael to commit suicide, and they don't stop there. They then form a lynch mob and go out, corner Michael, and take their turns. Their choice being to continue the cycle, Michael stood up like: "So be it." And The Shape -- The Ferryman -- delivers their Karma, yet again. And so in 'Ends' -- the cycle is in full swing. The "village" has chosen its pariah, and said Pariah starts to become its new Ferryman, as the body of the former is beginning to rot and the torch passes to Corey (a Karmic cycle already at work in his ... er, "family). Corey's a good kid, and Enda wasn't necessarily a bad guy. But they both got bullied. They're both thought of as "monsters" when they were completely innocent. And they both experience a final "push" that sends them over the edge (a bit literal with Corey). At the end of the story, the body that The Shape inhabited gets literally ripped to shreds, much like Enda. And _THE WHOLE DAMN VILLAGE IS PRESENT._ The town didn't "END" the Samhain cycle. The town continued it. The end of the Novelization makes it clear: Evil never dies; it just changes Shape. For some reason, the town of Haddonfield is home to the souls of those who cursed themselves to continue their Karmic cycles over, and over, and over. That's why they can't seem to leave, even when they want to. They were collectively supposed to make "Halloween End", to put a stop to the cycle of abuse. I feel the Novelization ends right, because the town -- including Laurie with her "performance art" -- didn't learn. You don't defeat the boogeyman by grinding him into the meat on the counter at the beginning of the movie. You defeat him by facing him within yourself. (Think of Nancy at the ending of ANOES.) EDIT: I LOVED getting all these videos on the novelization! Thank you, Mike! Awesome!!!

Laurie glanced at the picture of her, Linda and Annie. She allowed the reflections of their deaths to enter her thoughts…she caught her self coldly lacking the hurt and anguish that night caused. Was it peace? Was is acceptance? The silence of contemplation was broken as her cell rang. Again Laurie noted how her reactions to such disturbances had become “less”. No startle, no urgency to respond. Just a turn and look to the device that now held her attention. She could not explain it. She once tried to Frank. But She shut that door and allowed the self imposed isolation to make friends with this unnatural cold dark that lurked inside her thoughts. Picking up the phone she looks and sees it was Allison. This was the 17th miss called from her. Laurie set the cell phone back down. She walked to the window and looked at the neighbors across the street. The Kemps were ideal neighbors. They always made sure to check in on Laurie after that night. Wanting her time. Wanting her attention. Wanting her to respond. She felt her hand tightening into a clinched fist. As she watched them hang their lights and place their carved pumpkins. Another intrusive memory of Tommy and Lindsey wanting to finish that fucking jack o’ lantern. His voice echoing and grating on her nerves. The silence again broken by a knock at the front door. A glance at the door. Another knock. A voice follows. “Laurie, it’s Lindsey.” Laurie stood silent. “Come on lady it’s been two months now.” Laurie glared at the door. Still not moved to greet the woman that she once shared so much with and cared so much for. What the fuck does she want? Laurie thought. Just fucking take the hint and fuck off! Laurie remained as if frozen. Locked into a stationary position of fight or flight. It’s been four weeks since I’ve spoken anything out loud. Laurie looked at the door again. Should she answer? “Laurie come on. Answer the fucking door. This is fucking ridiculous.” Laurie felt herself moving to open the door. But it wasn’t her. She felt like she was watching things play out but was disconnected from it. Laurie jerked the door open just as Lindsey was seemingly knocking for the last time that evening. Lindsey is jolted by this and let’s out an instinctive “Holy Fuck Laurie!” Laurie says nothing as Lindsey pushes her way in. Laurie could feel herself slip away. Like sleep. Her last thought before black out was “Lindsey NO”.

It makes sense that early green lighted scripts (what the books have to go off of) had the mask as the source of the evil “infection”. There was talk that a close up would have shown that the mask was from the Silver Shamrock factory.

The ending isn't a new idea. DGG takes a lot from other Halloween movies and media, and the end came from a Halloween comic book in which Laurie Strode goes crazy and Becomes The Boogeyman. I can't remember who -- either Tommy or Loomis' son -- is the person who discovers it's her. Hmm... I think it's Tommy because he escapes from jail and goes to talk to Lindsey... I think. I need to read it again. It's been a while. But, the good news is that anyone can check out all the comic books for free online. Hope we go over everything like this. I Still think we should have a book club where we read the novelizations and comic books, and talk about them

@@jurassicpark1fan920 [Edited: end of post] That's an interesting idea. I like it. However, I can't help but remember Hawkins and how he watches her and the house at the end. Pretty cool running down the potential "what might have been..." The one thing about novelizations is that they are usually written from earlier drafts, which is a shame really because some much details are lost once the approved script makes it to the screen. The idea of evil spreading from Michael to Corey, or even Michael to Laurie, does bring up some intriguing questions, such as do they gain his supernatural abilities along with the evil? Also, did the evil start with Michael prior to his sixth birthday, as hinted by Officer McCabe in Halloween Kills when he reflects on his childhood friendship with Michael (assuming it could be called that), or was he also exposed to someone previously who transferred their evil into him?

havent read this book but after re watching it today after buying it at walmart a week early i have to say they totaly missed the mark on the ending i mean i thought to myself well they take him to the junkyard and disposed of him right well i wish the final fight was at the junkyard itself they lured him there and they fight it out and they can still put him in the grinder it would have been more exiting to see

This confirms my theory I had from the beginning, that Michael passed his evil into Corey. That's why he's weak.

Yeah, this version is so much better ! But if someone could remake the movie. He needs to take this scenario and changes few things. For me the final fight between Laurie and Michael should have been longer and cuddle in Michael's house. After Laurie takes Michael Body until radio tower but The Shape wakes up and the second fight begins . At the end Michael falls and get skewerd by the top pick of the tower. Laurie takes Michael home and burns him down along with his house. The TV broadcasts this spectacle and the habitants of Haddonfield understand that their Bogeyman is dead . And the end of the movie takes place in Halloween 2023 where we see Michael's house destroyed then rebuilt for a family that has just bought. And Michael kills the girl that was in his sister's room and at the same time Laurie says that even though Myers' physical body is destroyed. His soul will always endure in the place where he was born his home...

Imbeciles shat their pampers at the though of women Ghostbusters, their heads exploded about da weemonz being a Jedi in Star Wars.....The incell alt-right MAGA grifters and their low IQ echo chamber heads would have exploded if da weemonz had been made The Shape at the end of any Halloween movie....People like Dumbcock, Geeks and Grifters, Mecharandumb, Nerdrotic to 50 year old meth dealer sitting in a room full of toys and Midnight's Sludge would have made 25 videos about how Halloween was woke

I both want to see it and don't! It looks like it could be a fun party movie but I also hear its super bloated so the three hours has me torn. Plus The Whale just came out. I haven't decided yet lol

I did like how the book ended. It was a good ending and yes I like all 3 books too. It was a lot better then the movie and if they had the morning of November 1st the garbage truck scene would have made it better

Love the novel, and even the ambiguous ending. Although, I’m not a fan of how on the nose the ending is with Laurie. I kind of wish that it would have just ended with Laurie ending or something like that. Leave more mystery to it. Laurie just becoming the “new Michael” leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I loved this trilogy more then any of the original Halloween movies. I am not a Halloween fan. I would rather choose Friday the 13th over Halloween. I still wonder why Jason still didn't get a new movie since 2009.. That Jason would even kick Micheal's ass bigtime. Maybe they should make a cross over with Jason, Micheal and Freddy. This could be an bigger movie then Freddy vs Jason ever was.
