They did use the part 6 mask in the beginning scene mixed with shots of a new mask. They initially shot for 3 weeks with what's called 'The KNB mask' but the studio didn't like what they were seeing with the mask, so they reshot and started using different masks, like a mould of the original part 6 mask. The first time you see Michael in H20, he reveals himself in the doorway, he's wearing the Part 6 mask. So, the whole movie is intermingled different shots of masks, but apparently the only time you see the part 6 mask clearly is in that first scene.

They definitely should have kept the mask he had in the beginning throughout the entire movie and that would have made it a little better. I do like this movie though for sure. I actually felt sorry for the nurse in the beginning. I like that he killed the two boys and I liked how he rearmed himself with the kitchen knife, but other than that for some reason the nurse was one of those characters you didn't want to die lol.

The opening with those scissors I think was representing Rachel's death in part 5. He didn't kill anyone with scissors but her. I'm still not understanding why they couldn't connect these movies? 4-6 Didnt have to be explained but there was no reason to not mention them....

It's nonsense that it "erases" 4-6. It totally connects and makes sense. The whole 'erasing' nonsense is just how they were selling the film in interviews to the audiences in that hopes that people that only saw the first film would come to see this one, that they didn't have to watch the others. And it's true. They streamlined the film to not get into what happened in 3-6, so those ignorant people that only saw the first and maybe second weren't lost. But it didn't negate those films at all. On the contrary. The fingerprints of H4-H6 are all over H20. Laurie faked her death that was mentioned in H4. Loomis is still alive as revealed in H4. Laurie drinks because of Jamie's death (that's an assumption, but it's also the admitted intention of the writer, Frank Zappia). The script was written as Halloween 7: The Revenge Of Laurie Strode. It doesn't need to talk about Thorn or any of the stuff in H4-H6 because that stuff was all taken care of and wrapped up in H6. No one would believe it was Michael Myers doing all that stuff in H4-H6 because he was in a coma for 10 years and wouldn't have any muscle to move, then he was in an ambulance crash where his body was never found. The whole police force and a bunch of other people were killed two years in a row. An entire armed police force was single-handedly killed by him, also meaning he took numerous bullets to himself. Who's going to believe that. No one in their logical sane mind would believe that bullshit. It wasn't Michael Myers, which was merely a folktale, a legend, "the boogeyman". It was a mystery how all these people got slaughtered, but it certainly couldn't have been this Michael Myers. There had to have been multiple people. Then, the Thorn cult was uncovered. Their bodies and secret hideout was found and they were obsessed with Michael Myers, using his image to kill. All makes sense now. So, the reality of Michael Myers is that it was this guy that killed these babysitters and a few other people on one Halloween night (one by one). This is believable. This happened. To the public, that's the only actual incident of Michael Myers that happened. After that, his body was said to have burned, maybe held as a coma patient for 10 years until his body was lost in a river from a crash, an inescapable situation for a vegetable coma patient.

this is the best Halloween movie in my opinion but it has a huge plot hole: last time we saw Michael Laurie blinded him by shooting him in the eyes and he was on fire so first of all, did no one see the huge human fire ball that left the hospital? why was he believed to be dead? it's not like his body could've been misplaced or got lost somehow so why wasn't he pronounced missing? and did he just put out the fire, heal his burns, the gut shot wounds and regain his sight all by himself????

He gets shot in the head, not the eyes. The blood runs down over his eyes from above inside the mask and you can see the bullet hole on his mask above his eyes after he gets shot.

It's a good thing that H40 only follows the first movie. Especially because John Carpenter did not intend Michael and Laurie to be siblings which I also didn't like. Edit: but I do enjoy this one a lot too. It just has its own elegance especially with this tim burton-esque style music.

If they decided to make it a sequel to the thorn trilogy, it would have made Laurie Strode abondoning her daughter Jamie Lloyd and she would have blamed herself for her daughter's death in H6.
