I enjoyed that this is the first time that your guy makes any noise that's not made from his gun or equipment. Whistling out the same tone as the machine does during scans. For that little bit of expression from our character in an effort that we know that these creatures are also here against their will. This extra cutscene alternative cutscene was worth it.

The Rookie finding all the logs, fighting alongside the corrupt Officer and subconsciously knowing of his treachery through the logs is my personal Headcanon of what happened in Halo 3 ODST.

Thats not head-canon, this is the actuak canon version of the story. The Rookie canonically found all the AudioLogs and understood what the he was encountering. The rookie whistle cutscene and the corrupt cop turning on him when they find Dr Endeshas corpse is canon. He spent hours not speaking to anyone and the only communication he had was with the cities computer who spents the entirety of Mombasa Streets pointing him towards these clues. He's the only one that had time to pay attention and figure this out.

While trying to find all the audio logs you begin to notice certain things, first vergil talks when you are near one (please walk), second all the cars in the city are silent unless you are near an audio log, third if you walk near a sign it will shift and point you towards the audio log, fourth vergil will raise the car stoppers on a street to stall you if you are near an audio log. Details like those really make the city seem alive, you are being helped after all, the more logs you have, the more supplies you can access, if you have played the game on heroic or legendary, finding logs and unlocking caches really makes it feel like the rookie managed to survive New Mombasa thanks to Vergil. Finding all the logs can be exhausting, but the pay-off of experimenting the most unique story in a halo game is worth it. Even if I spent 2-3 hours driving through the city (used no guide).

They all live in the grey area of story telling that I'm sure the authors would love to play with, but then 343 would have to give them names and backgrounds, which could ruin the whole, the Rookie is you/You and your friends are Fireteam Crimson thing that they have for their respective games. Obviously the way they handled the Rookie sucks. They could've crippled him or have him retire after the Covenant war was over, but I guess killing off a character means you don't have to worry about continuity.

i mean, there is the halo 2 level when you play as arbiter, the 3rd levels, with flood, sentiners, and some marines you can see in the background are marked as enemies, if you mennage to save them they would shoot you since you are ally with covenant and profets at that point while thier faction is human. basicly, halo 2 have human enemies, they just die by a trigger if you proceed normally and trigger the kill zone for them.

i didn't know the cop was corrupt.... When I played it he didn't jump down one of the tubes fast enough and was attacked by buggers as it closed, made me sad. Wonder what was different

Unpopular opinion: ODST should of had everything scaled to how it should be. All the weapons and vehicles shrink when you use them, also Grunts are 5ft tall, they barely look 3ft in the game

i guess the brute plasma rifle is used by brutes (shocking,i know),and in the invasion its mostly brutes,using their version of the plasma rifles,i still havent finished halo 3,so i cant make a theory yet. also whats the diference between the two of them? Does the brute plasma rifle overheat faster that the regular plasma rifle without any upsides advantages whatsoever?

What happens if you don’t follow the MCPD officer into the room? Does he follow you through the rest of the mission or do you have to go in?

I think you have to follow him in. He'll stay in there until you enter the same room.

When you reach the area where he splits off, he goes into the room and stays there. You can either follow him in (which will make him hostile) or abandon him entirely. Either way, he doesn't go any further.

I totally missed the discovery of the body and went straight to the next level. He followed me, never got into the room. At some point, when I jumped into a hole, he didn't follow and Vergil closed the hatch. Then, a swarm of drone showed and killed him, Vergil doing is one liner. There are three ending for the corrupt cop: -the rookie kill him in self defense -Vergil kill him in the room if you don't follow him -the ending I just described.
