There are some sections where the AUDIO DROPS FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS, but it's for a very short period of time. This happens because we have to remove some background music for copyright reasons. The moments are only brief, and the viewing experience should still be great.
So now with the Master Chief Collection, Halo 4 runs at a buttery smooth 60 fps with native 1080p. Out of all the games in the collection, this one looks the best by far. Halo 2 has the amazing pre-rendered cutscenes, but Halo 4's in-game graphics are unmatched. There's nothing to be said about Halo 4 that hasn't been said already. I know we have had a lot of updated Halo videos over the past couple of months, but this will be our last batch for a long while. We will do all the Halo Master Chief Collection game movies individually and as a whole, as well as update the full "Halo Movie." video we have. As always, we added relevant gameplay, important dialogue and all cutscenes to create one fluid cinematic experience. Enjoy Halo 4 like you've never seen it before.

spartan 3s were not a widely known secret considering they were literally expendable suicide troops. they were drawn from orphanages and other low qaulity areas to be trained as expendable shock troops meant for missions so risky that they were nearly always one way trips. i dont remember what happened to alpha company, but beta company was all but wiped out but for 2 members when it was sent to attack a covie fuel depot world. they got in to the planet alright but as they launched their attack on the depot covie cruisers came down and practically wiped them out. only one squad made it into the depot to start detonating it. Yes that det killed a covie cruiser and took out the fuel base. but more cruisers entered atmo and proceeded to glass the remaining betas till only two made it to extract. beyond that, i only know of like two sqauds of 3s still active. as for spartan II vs IVs. the twos were taken at very very very very young ages and indoctrinated to be 100% loyal to unsc. spartan 4s were made up of volunteers from regular or special forces. ODSTs ONI agents the works. Now the big difference is the IIs were heavily augmented and many died in the process or were severely cripppled. these augmentations increased speed agility and strength to the point that spartan IIs were basiclly super men. as far as im aware no spartan 4 has had quite the same augments. now excluding that, any surviving twos have been around for quite awhile and really know their shit. they have the experiance edge over the 4s. admittedly the armors of both could be similar or vastly different depending on specializations, but the edge is still in the twos camp.

@@botgreg4920 The Chief is not the best marksman, fastest, or the strongest among the Spartan IIs, if I remember the lore right. But he's got leadership skills. Oh and the longer he's alive, the more experienced he becomes. And that luck factor Cortana keeps going on about. Are Spartan IVs vastly inferior to Spartan IIs? First time I actually heard about the Spartan IVs, I should dig deeper into the lore again.

annoyingkraken SIV’s augmentations are made to work in union with GEN2 MJOLNIR. Their augmentations are inferior to that of the IIs and IIIs. Say you slapped a IV in GEN2 and put a II in GEN1, the IV would have the advantage because of their armor being so fucking OP. But slap a II in GEN2 with the IV and the II will (for the most part) curb stomp the IV in every way. The IIIs are the ones with the same augmentations as the IIs but with major improvements and they were chemical instead of surgical offering a higher success rate. Kurt-051, a II, who trained the IIIs alongside SCPO Mendez who trained the IIs, even said that a III in MJOLNIR would be either on par or better than a II. So in reality, IIIs are the best. There have been many cases where IIs were surprised and impressed by the IIIs skills. Kelly has her grip reverse by Lucy who was a III in SPI armor. SPI doesn’t enhance the user like MJOLNIR so Lucy being able to reverse and actually tango with Kelly was an impressive feat that Kelly even noted. A III from Gamma Company was noted as possibly being on par with Linda in terms of sniping skills by Fred, which is insane because of Linda’s inhumane sniping skills.

1:45:50 I know people give 343 a hard time for this story, but they do certain scenes really well. This one in particular is just haunting, not even for the player, but for John. He was an S2 Spartan; born from kidnapping, bred to be a warrior as a last ditch protocol, has never had time or the personal agency to develop a life of his own at all. He, by all accounts, is largely considered and treated as a death machine, and that's all he's ever seen himself as for that matter; a mechanism for the UNSC. But he had Cortana. Someone to bounce off of and banter with, and the only individual that he was ever TRULY close to. And just like that, he had to helplessly watch as she (for what we knew at the time), disappeared from existence. Just how long that shot lingers on John standing there, helpless to the circumstances, it's genuinely heart wrenching in a way Bungie never quite hit with.

I think Bungie was focused on making it a fun to play action game with a backdrop of serious consequences. 343 really brought the nightmare fuel of the Halo universe to the forefront.

Even a clock can be right twice a day, and in this case, a small chunk of the staff were former Bungie employees. But at the end of the day, i343 is still garbage and the game is still nowhere near what a sequel to the Ark events should've been. All i see in i343 is a new dog bought mistakenly by the owner, thinking it will make the life of the old dog better, in reality, out of jealousy and other things that even dogs exhibit, they keep running over the old dog, keep trying to steal the owner's attention and so on. Ends up messy, never put a young dog in an old dog's house, not unless you buy a pup, so the old dog can raise it.

I still can't contain my excitement at how strong humans were before the Diadect wiped up out. Fighting against the flood AND against the Forerunner and still managing to hold out for a thousand years? The lore even said we almost came up with a Flood cure but it got destroyed in a crossfire. I hope Microsoft make a spinoff of the Halo universe depicting a whole new hero in the ancient times. I would buy a new Xbox just for that.

The third book of the forerunner trilogy revealed that the 'cure' ancient humanity had wasn't a cure but in fact the flood relised what was happening to the humans and retreated into a satellite galaxy. The ancient humans were still dicks (while cool) in my opinion, it would have prevented so many problems if instead of destroying forerunner planets they told them to evacuate then destroyed the world.

The ancient prophets helped the humans get there thru an alliance but bitched out when the forerunners came for them. He's callus in his dismissal of the lutenants suggestion of warning the forerunners. While it may have been to late they should have warned the forerunners what was happening so they could prepare defences. Their whole reason they didn't was because they wanted to expand into forerunner world's anyway and were worried the forerunner ecumene would bolster their defenses and make that goal impossible. 2 dick moves.

Hey guys for some reason this video is not showing up as 60fps anymore even though it was clearly 60fps yesterday and earlier today. This seems to be a KZbin problem. As far as the audio, I had to remove a short section around the 1:30:00 mark for copyright reasons, but it seems like the KZbin glitched and removed the whole last 25 mins! I'm reverting the audio back to it's original state and then trying again. It take a couple of hours to process though. Sorry for anyone who was currently watching. There's a lot of brilliant cutscenes in this game, but I think one of the underrated ones is the opening of Requiem. It starts out with the Forward Unto Dawn's wreckage crashing, followed by a slow, quiet reveal of what appears to be the Chief's dead hand, but it twitches and immediately pushes a piece of debris off him before the Chief's body is dramatically revealed and he looks around the destroyed, smokey, fiery scenery, which I feel represents the Chief's emotional state at this point. He's in a mysterious, remote location, devoid of life, and the Chief himself is alone and damaged, just like the Dawn, but he grabs onto the discarded Assault Rifle beside him, not only is the AR sort of the Chief's canonical and iconic weapon of choice, but it is the tool through which he solves his problems - point, shoot, maybe whack someone on the head with it, lather, rinse, repeat. Of course that's the first thing he grabs when he wakes up. Then, he asks Cortana where they are. Cortana, much like his AR, is also a resource he relies on not only for his own survival, but the survival of his species. As she tries to answer his question, she slips into a dementia-like trance where she quotes something Dr. Halsey said in The Fall of Reach, "We have asked you to give up your family, your childhood, your future", before Chief immediately realizes what's happening and removes her data-chip from his head, so he can interrogate her on why this just happened. She insists nothing is wrong, but the Chief isn't stupid. He knows she's hiding something and urges her to tell him. Finally, she gives in, and for the first time, perhaps since her rescue from High Charity in Halo 3, she shows genuine distress and explains what's happening to her, but using the most ambiguous wording she can find. She says she is "deteriorating." Note how, later in the game, as her rampancy and overall emotional state worsen, she explains in much gorier detail what will happen to her. Still, for now, this is good enough for the Chief to instantly search for a way to solve this problem. He mentions Halsey, who created Cortana, and would thus be better suited than anyone to potentially save her, but Cortana is certain it's too late and urges the Chief to stop. However, the Chief is in a state of conscious denial. Remember how Cortana malfunctioned and started rambling about the Chief and his fellow Spartans giving up their family, childhoods and futures? That is exactly what the Chief did when he was captured and indoctrinated into the Spartan program by ONI, so Cortana is really the only friend he ever had. Players of these games often liken Cortana to a girlfriend, but I think she's more of a mother-figure. For the most part, she's the one giving him orders, giving him information about your strange surroundings, and works to protect the Chief just as much he protects her, and all the while she can crack an occasional joke and perhaps (though we can never know for sure) make the Chief smile every once in a while. The Chief, despite his augmentations, is still fundamentally human and therefore, a social animal, he needs some companion that he can share his experiences with, for it is through the sharing of experiences that helps us validate our own existences and purposes. To lose Cortana would be to lose the core of his being, his will to carry on his neverending mission to protect humanity. There's nothing Cortana can tell him in this moment to make him accept her mortality, but I think Cortana's next line in this dialogue scene is the crown jewel. "Don't make a girl a promise you can't keep," not only is it a reference to her famous line in Halo 2, but it's slightly reworded to serve a thematic purpose. At the end of Halo 2, the biggest threat to Cortana was the Gravemind, so her parting words to the Chief in that game were, "Don't make a girl a promise, IF you know you can't keep it." She says 'IF' because while she was doubtful the Chief could keep his word he would come back for her, she knew the Gravemind was a tangible enemy that could be defeated, and the Chief is the Chief. He has a tendency of bending the odds to his will. He COULD save her, but in Halo 4, this quote is rephrased. Instead of saying, "if you can't keep it," she says, "you can't keep." In other words, there's nothing the Chief (and by proxy - you) can do to save her, because unlike in Halo 2 and 3, the biggest threat to Cortana isn't a tangible, fallible character like the Gravemind. In Halo 4, her biggest threat is her own mortality. How is the Chief going to defeat death itself ... with an Assault Rifle that upon closer inspection only has four rounds left in the magazine? The truth is, he can't, and part of his character arc in this game is learning this simple yet important lesson - that he can't always win. As a side note, I love the cinematography in this scene too. When Chief removes Cortana from his helmet and starts interrogating her, they're framed together in the same shots until the Chief finally gets her to reveal what's wrong with her and at that point we start getting shots of Cortana, but where Chief isn't visible in the shot. Not only does this focus our attention on her and her body-language, but it also shows just how vulnerable she is. She's alone, a detail only further emphasized by her tiny hologram projected from his hand which symbolizes the Chief's sense of responsibility for her. Her fate is in his hands. I'm not saying Halo 4 is a masterpiece, the story is rather flawed, mostly in regard to the Didact, but I think the entire subplot of Cortana impending death is Halo 4's greatest contribution to the story, and a true milestone of storytelling and character development in a Halo game. I think part of why this works so well is how quiet it is. There're almost no sounds other than the Chief and Cortana's voices, and not only does music of any kind not kick in until Cortana reveals her rampancy, but it's very subtle and minimalist music in comparison to virtually any cutscene from the other Halo games. Even sad moments like the opening of Halo 2's Uprising or Halo: Reach's New Alexandria had mournful yet subtly operatic music playing in the background, but that operatic quality is completely absent here. Instead, it is the strength and subtlety of Steve Downes' and Jen Taylor's voice performances along with the equally subtle and amazing motion capture performances of Bruce Thomas and Mackenzie Mason that carry this scene, and it's just so fucking brilliant - I love it. These were the sorts of moments that I wish more games had, (and that includes Halo 5.)

I thought I was the only person who thought this way, and as an added bonus, John didn't really get to 'be a kid'. Yeah, he was first seen by Halsey playing with the other kids, but other than that, it's always been to follow orders and take the world seriously. Mentally, John is still a child. He's emotionally equivalent to, well, a six-year-old. Cortana being his mother figure, his guardian angel, is more important to him than anything. That's also why he falls for her trap in Halo 5. Watching him stand there silently after asking Cortana to not go, even saying "please" in the most gentle, yet somehow broken voice. He basically watched his mother die, and remember that he was in cryo-sleep, too. What felt like basically a week to him (four years to everybody else), he also lost Johnson, who was one of his very best friends throughout the series as a whole. After the events of Halo 4, John officially breaks. The silence of him standing on the deck with Lasky by his side just shows it. He's so lost and blind to the world around him. Somebody like him needs a break, and he's never been given one. After the events of 4 (if you read the comics), he still didn't stop. He reunited with Blue Team and did mission after mission, non-stop, just to fill the void she left behind.

This is my first time ever seeing any of the story or this much game play from Halo 4. I never watched it or played it, or really gave it much of a chance. And what you said is mind blowing. Especially after just watching the cutscenes. Another thing I would like to add is the beginning cutscenes of the game. When Cortana first wakes Cheif. We can see the desperation in her face soooooo well. They did a beautiful job with graphics and facial expressions shots and animations in this game. But not only is she desperate to have Cheif to talk to because she was lonely, but she was also a little scared (perhaps AI equivalent of PTSD) after what happened with Gravemind and being all alone reminds her of that. But also she feels remorse and guilt. Chief said don't wake him, unless she absolutely needs him. And now she has to wake him up. So she feels guilty in a way. All the expressions combined... Guilt, trauma/PTSD, Fear, loneliness, sadness, boredom, disturbance (about this potential new threats), and a little excitement and hope from about to be getting to see Cheif again... All of these feelings and expressions are perfectly shown in her gorgeously designed and cute feminine face... I am floored by the attention to detail 343i managed to capture in those shots. And none of these things allured to her rampancy (logic plauge). That was all hidden until it starts to slip from her own mouth just a few scenes later in the game. So it makes for nice surprise and plot twist

Purple Gladiator I never saw it as a mother figure kind of thing, as it seems cortana as she started to break down, showed her humanity and love for him, that last scene when she touched him and said “you have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do that” and the constant semi flirting she’s done over the games made me feel like he has feelings for cortana as well, it’s more of a nuturing and caring feeling but I do believe he loved her in his own way.

Damn.... When the Didact called the Elites beast as if they were common animals was pretty deep.... AT least he called MC by his species name unlike the common beast that were Elites in the eyes of the Didact. Actually, in a official halo graphic novel, don't remember the name, the Didact did survive the destruction of the composer and ended up on a halo ring where he faced off against MC and blue team, and he was finally killed when they dropped a piece of the halo ring right on the Didact

So, yeah, technically, Master Chief SHOULD outrank everyone. But because he didn't want the by all rights 'desk job' position, the highest rank he has ever willingly accepted is Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy. Anything higher than that is an Officers position, which generally keeps you behind walls and on ships.

I have never played this game, nor any other from the franchise. Having said that, i personally admire those with great character development, emotional depth to the protagonists-especially to the antagonists, meaningful dialogues and imaginative story. Although i do enjoy battles, those are not really something special. Everyone can think of one, any battle amongst rivals, in any form of art: movies and series of television, cinematic films, comic books, video games, books of literature.. but creating memorable characters, who inspire us emotions such as sadness and awe.. That very few can accomplish. I loved this video. I would prefer f the villain had more dialogues and depth.. But perfection is almost impossible to reach. And Cortana's demise was so emotional.

Logically, everything should have still looked Halo 3 style until he met up with current day UNSC and got newer equipment

The Forward Unto Dawn was changed from a Charon-class to a Stalwart class because the Charon wasn't big enough for an entire mission to take place in. The Dawn is still a Charon-Class in lore, this was just a gameplay change. Chief's armour was apparently changed with 'Nano-bots' in lore, but in reality it was probably changed cus it looked cooler. The new weapons are apparently prototypes that the Dawn had during the mission to the Ark but were never used, but like the armour it was probably just an artistic change. It would have been very nice to have the OG stuff until Infinity, then the new stuff until the end, but that would have been a lot of work for the developers that doesn't really affect gameplay all that much.

I love the interplay between Cortana and Chief in this, though I sorta wish they could have still achieved the same result without resorting to Master Chief wording everything out. MC has always been a stoic figure who's action speaks louder than words, while Cortana has been his interpreter, translating and voicing what's going on in his head while providing her own input on the matter. I feel like they could have achieved the same emotional weight without changing the very nature of the character. Still, this is a much better game than Halo 5, so I'll take that solace.

Looking back, I now understand why the transition from Halo 3 to 4 was so difficult for me. I just saw halo 3's cutscenes and I'm jumping straight into 4's, which is what I did back then, I played halo 3 1 week before 4's release. The type of storytelling is completely different. There are more exchanges between chief and cortana (which I grew to like back then), there is A LOT of exposition (stuff that would have fit more a cutscene), and the chief's change in personality is too drastic (not bad, just a tough transition). There are so many things I would change from Halo 4, but it is still a good game.

First off, let me say that I LOVE the original halo trilogy. I have probably spent 30-50 hours playing halo CE. But, I have recently been thinking a lot about them, and halo 4, and I have come to the conclusion that Halo 1-3, never had a really great story. I mean they had a good story, but they where only good. The fist three games are pretty much "Time to blow up some evil alien suckers and save the whole gosh darned universe!!!" what I mean is that, except from the VARY brief sad scenes where a corrector dies, all they do is make you feel like a--, well, a Spartan. But with Halo 4, you still have that feel a little, but I feel like 343 wanted a REAL story, a story about home, a story about what it means to be human. Unfortunately, because of angry fans, and Microsoft, they never got to finish telling this story.

Well that was the beauty of the story, it was simple and to the point. Changing the tone to a more emotional and reflective mood isn't a bad thing in itself, however it's definitely a big change from the tone of the original games. I think they could have actually done this well but the thing is that they still had to focus on there being an overarching threat which is why they had to pull all the forerunner shit out their ass. If they really wanted to change the tone I think it would be better if they didn't hamfist another end of the world scenario in order to artifically produce tension. Ultimately they had some good ideas but they were too afraid to fully commit to them in order to bring out their full potential.

At the end of 2 cortana was left alone with the grave mind.. And whe. Chief saves her in 3.. She is visibly damaged... (at least war torn it seems)... In the end... On dawn... Before... Going into cryo.. Chief Saif to cortana... "Wake me up if you need me"... And there is a pause on cortanas face.... Halo 4 was a natural progression from bungies work... And 343 brought back as much necessary elements... AND TRIED TO add new stuff.. So that it doesn't feel the same and like a retread... For future.. That to all the new stuff is already in the. Larger lore... People gave halo 4 shit for no reasons...

I would’ve liked a mechanic where you could’ve fought the Didact. Like it was revealed that he’s not really manipulating you it’s your shields he’s manipulating so for a final boss you have to fight him without the use of your Shields You get the chance to hit him But he may have an easier time dismantling you

Maybe if the 20mm cannon on it actually did the damage that it would do...one shot would rip an Elite, grunt, jackal, Promethean apart...and not take more than that unlike in game. One thing that is really funny as hell...Andrew Del Rio was born on May 28, 2500, John-117 was born March 7, 2511...making them only 11 years in age difference, yet he makes the ballsy move of calling John an aging Spartan? The final bit about soldiers aren’t machines. It really hits home. It marks the turning point for chief, I personally think it was led to halo five. What led chief to fight so hard for Cortana. He stopped thinking of himself as a machine and weapon for oni and the UNSC to use. In the moment of that line, chief became human. He decided that for once, he wasn’t going to obey orders. He wasn’t going to fight for what oni wanted. For once he was going to fight for himself. For his own cause.

Even though this game isn't as good as Halo 3 or Reach, I still loved it, and I don't think it deserves all the hate it gets. Sure, the villain was kind of bland, but if that's its only problem, I'm far beyond happy.
