Agreed. Halo 4 felt like Halo. Was the story on par with the original trilogy? No. But it still established a massive threat against humanity. It even goes and puts humanity on the pedestal only to knock them down a peg or three during the campaign. Better than 5 and Infinite by a longshot and a respectable entry. They tried to experiment as well. Spartan Ops wasn’t the best but it was still a good time. Amazing introduction of Infinity wrecking house and Palmer’s speech was awesome. It shows humanity coming back from the brink, building and advancing.

The elites were agile, fast, and were amazing warriors, but here they were slow, brutish, and just not the same as they were in the previous games. Here they were more like brutes than elites.

I cannot put into words how much I detest the Spartan Commander. She is callous, ignorant, impatient, and prone to emotional outbursts. She consistently proves that Halsey is right. The S4'rs are so bland and cliche this movie proves that, instead of 343 creating them in the guise of a true Special Operations Capable Force them made them Spartan wannabes and thst ruined their potential. They should have been created in the mindset of the Rangers (75th RR) just like the S1's were. Whoever that this portrayal was good, need to be ran out of Hollywood for complicating something so simple. The S4'rs have potential but they need to drop Palmer first then the S4'rs as Spartans second then rebuild them with a new image and portrayal befitting what their role would be truly to the UNSC and hint......not Spartan wannabes

Looked a little more tanky like the S3s did, and they kind of got rid of the snarky attitude that they all had in the halo 4-5 series. Then in Halo 5: Guardians they complete threw away this whole plot essentially with you rescuing Halsey as Fireteam Osiris instead of her going through with her plan/plot for revenge against the UNSC/ONI as she stated at the end of Spartan Ops with also the whole plot point of the Janus Key being the catalog/identifier for the location of every know piece of Forerunner technology in the galaxy/universe, which would've made for some very interesting stories/content

Gen 4 Spartans, say what you will about them, but honestly, they're Spartans all the same. 4 and 5 didn't really do them justice, I'll admit, made them feel like a bunch of ODSTs in MJOLNIR armor rather than legitimate Spartans. Gen 2's were Halsey's golden boys and girls, 3's did their best and held up the legacy. 4's deserve a better representation. I won't say they're a joke, but they definitely deserve better.

For those wondering why Spartan Ops died despite cool cutscenes: 1.) It was hid behind $10 paywalls with a few missions released every month. 2.) Its missions were repetitive and boring with nothing special about them. 3.) The servers were absolutely terrible with awful desync, making spartan ops absolutely unplayable in multiplayer. 4.) Halo 4's gameplay was definitely the worst halo gameplay of all time. Guns felt terrible to shoot (staple gun BR, rocky plasma pistols) and most enemies felt boring and tedious to fight against. 5.) Halo 4 itself had a miniscule population only a month into its release due to its terrible multiplayer. 6.) There were no rewards for playing Spartan Ops and the story ended up being completely irrelevant anyways.
