Watching this trailer, you'd assume it means 4-player local co-op like the old days. But nope, everybody has to play with their own console. In fact, split screen has been removed completely in Halo 5. One of the main reasons why I've been able to continue playing Halo for all of these years was the split-screen multiplayer-- to be able to bring a few friends over and have some fun in one place, whether against each other or online. Halo 5 is putting an end to that tradition that tens of millions love to do. Over a year ago, I put my money towards PS4 with much regret that I won't be able to play Halo. Now I don't feel that regret very much anymore. It's still going to be an amazing game, but it will never be the same without split-screen.

What is the key importance of Mario Kart? I don't see how anybody could think there's little value in local multiplayer. The only reason today's console games are lacking splitscreen is due to the graphical processing demand, forcing them to either reduce the quality, or the framerate. And they see it as damaging the gameplay experience. I think it's very clear that most people would want local multiplayer if it was an available option. Especially for a game like Halo. If you honestly think splitscreen for Halo is an obsolete feature, then I don't think you've played Halo in its glory days (2002-2009)

Now you need 4 consoles and TVs to play together in the same place. I grew up playing this on a CRT with my cousins on summers back in 2002, to meeting every friday after school with friends to play social slayer for hours in 2007, etc. Those traditions are being thrown away for the first time in 14 years of Halo. Or maybe they want to explore the Haloverse from a new perspective? Maybe have Chief appear later on? So far all of what I hear can be summed up as this: 343 changed things and now people are pissed. +quigleyfox I often joke about a car that can be 7 stars ANCAP (Australian New Car Assessment Program) in Australia. The most stars a car will ever have is 5 stars. The reason I mentioned this is because I have got a theory for that car that can really save people's lives more than 90%. If that car gets developed then it would be pushing the boundaries. Just like Halo 5. I have had the first Xbox bought from the shops 3 months after it got released new and since then I played halo 1 that I had owned. I finished it and the fact is that no matter what Halo is Halo. I have finished Halo 2 and I have got from the shops a new Xbox 360 with the 60 GB hard since 2009 and I have played Halo 3 that I bought used. So my point is that if anyone tried to change the rules or the gameplay of Halo or any other game it might be for the better because if everybody just kept playing the same game the players will never know if this new stuff is word every penny. Just like the 7 Stars ANCAP safety rating car that can never exist as long as someone pushes the boundaries and decides to go against the flow of what car makers are already doing. So if this quigleyfox is from the developer team from Halo is because he must need some info as to how the game looks and what are people's reactions so that in future Halo Games they will not make the same mistake. I have only played the first 3 Halos so I can't comment on the rest unless I buy them and Play them. The last final thought would be that to leave him alone if you think that he is joking about something that he simply stated that he wants people who are going to play the game to know what it will look from a developers perspective.

+DeathByCake118 agreed, SPARTAN IV's aren't meant to be as good as SPARTAN II's. The Spartan 2's were the best of the best, and could genuinely achieve the feats shown in this cinematic. From the age of 6 they were trained to be the best the UNSC could make them. They were SPARTANs. But it's not unlikely that their are other Spartans that could achieve similar feats. SPARTAN B312 was designated Hyper Lethal, on par with John 117. And by the sounds of the game, Fireteam Osiris are going up against Blue Team, THE SPARTANs. If you have read the books then you'll know that this team are the best of the SPARTAN II's. So the UNSC would have to find a team of similar ability to bring the former into line. zedooncadhz Master Chief fell from orbit and got back up at the start of Halo 3. Plus one of the augments spartan's get are nearly indestructible bones. Plus their reaction time is a lot faster than a regular human. Plus Spartan can run really fast. One of the Spartan's on Master Chief's Blue Team can even run up to 54mph from what I can remember. If you want I can provide a list of some of the augments Spartan 4's specifically get. BTW in Halo The Fall of Reach ( which was the first book made for Halo ) Master Chief himself back-handed a missile while running, and still managed to avoid the explosion.

They would've been created sooner were it not for the Human-Covenant war completely stopping all technological advancement. They aren't as good as a II, but they certainly can match up against one. xKingGhidorahx They ran past 90% of the enemies. The others, we didn't even see them die necessarily. Get shot and flinch, their shields fluctuating? Sure. But we saw _MAYBE_ 5 or 6 actually drop dead. The vehicles being effortlessly destroyed was very reminiscent of the scarabs. Especially the Halo 2 one where you kill everyone inside, then it cuts away with the *impression* that MC just went insane and tore and shot at everything he could find to destroy it. Halo Wars displayed Spartan-I action. It wasn't as insane as this, but at the time it was just regular adults with unadvanced armor. Several game trailers and other things displayed other Spartans like this. The books talked about the Master Chief sprinting at 70mph at one point. He tore his achilles, but sustained no serious injury. This is the intro cutscene. The first one in the game. It's designed to get you pumped. The rest of the game isn't going to be about mindless violence. They even explicitly stated you would want to take things slow because of all the subtle levels of story present in the game. Yes, and so has every other post-2010 multiplayer game. It's not 343, it's the players in general. But either way, as fans, we have no reason to care if the population drops. If no-one else wants to play, that's fine, not my problem. Halo 4's and MCC's online is still functional and has enough people on it to be playable, there is no concern. And frankly? Halo 5's multiplayer is a major step up from 4. And there are still people playing 4 to this day. A small amount, but once again, enough to keep the games full. It will be played. It will be liked. It's won over a dozen people.

Lets just for a moment say that you're right, and only a handful of Covenant died. Tossing all the other Covenant they touched around like rag-dolls (except for the few Grunts of course) doesn't make these Covenant look any less incompetent then they would if they had all been killed. Go try to take a Scarab from Halo 2 or Halo 3 down on Heroic/Legendary, then comeback to me and explain how it was just as effortless as what was shown in this cinematic. As for what the Chief did to that Scarab in Halo 2, it's a hell of a lot more plausible that he destroyed it's core after killing everyone on-board then going crazy and simply shooting everything inside as you describe. Elites getting slaughtered by mindlessly charging at three gun-wielding Spartans with sticks on a narrow bridge in Halo Wars doesn't equate to what we see in this cinematic. There was only one Halo trailer I can recall that was just as ridiculous as this scene. That would be the Gamestop Spartan Locke Armor Set trailer, which also made cannon fodder out of the Covenant and showed off Locke as a Marvel superhero. However, that example really only helps my case. That part from The Fall of Reach with the Master Chief running that fast in a straight line doesn't equate to soaring through the sky like Buzz Lightyear, running through boulders as if they're nothing, f@!%ing ground pounding for crying out load, and all the other nonsensical BS these Spartans did in this cinematic. Halo 5 stepping up from Halo 4 in terms of multiplayer isn't much of an achievement. How it compares to the much stronger Halo multiplayer present in the original trilogy is the real question. We'll just have to see what the silent majority of players think after observing what happens to the online player count a few weeks after release.

But to answer your question; 1) Even the S-IVs are still in limited numbers and 2) The entire point of the new trilogy is that after the war, humanity became one of the biggest powers in the galaxy. Big enough that the Forerunners themselves are among the few genuine threats to them.

+TheJasperger God dammit dude, they were never OP in the extended universe, give me examples. I can tell you Master Chief couldn't fight a solo Elite in First Strike. Taking down horde's of grunts with land mines is nothing, so don't give me that example. IN THE STORY, Earth gets hit by 1) the Covenant attacks by Regret's fleet and the entire Covenant Armada after that 2) The composer 3) the Forerunner Retrievers from Hunters in the dark. Humanity is on the ropes now, I prefer it if people saw them that way.

So again, the only legitimate threat to humanity right now is the Forerunners. Why? Halo5's MP has to unique types of game types one being, ARENA, arena is a fast paced evenly matched 4v4 or 5v5 death match to who ever gets the most amount of points wins by killing enemy players using power weapons layed across the map and map control, Map control is mostly used for strategy by PRO players to control certain key areas of the map to dominate the enemy team. Halo5 Arena does NOT have perks, ordnance, loadouts, ADS, ect. Halo5 arena is literally shaped by pros such as Flame Sword for example. TO say halo5's MP is like COD when halo invented competitive console play is liking saying a scooter is fast then a Lamborghini. Warzone. Warzone is a new gametype that is created by 343i and has been worked on since 2012. Warzone is implementing PVE story like bosses that are not just bullet sponges (DESTINY) but can attack and call in backup from enmey AI, each boss is actually tied deep into the lore and even has specific history about where their from and what their abilities are, these bosses pop up randomly around the map. Warzones map's are the largest in the series some up to 4 times larger then any halo map Campaign or MP in history. These maps have specific read and blue bases which you must capture by killing formidable enemy AI. Their are neutral bases around the map that you can capture and even unlock ertain buildings which allow you to use vehicles their. Destiny TTK is an overly priced DLC, Bungie lied about almost everything in that game and is clearly for blind casuals that keep playing only to get screwed in the *ss. Halo5's campaign is already confirmed to be the longest and darkest story in the series and will have huge open battles with more AI and mechanics then in previous games, the graphics have been greatly improved and polished, NOTE: halo5 E3 demo was a one year old build of the game imagine what it looks like now. Demonize chief? The old covenant used to call spartan demons yes but now the SWORDS OF SANGHELIOS train with spartans and see where to improve. The storm faction is only a remnant of the the original covenant and is close to defeat. Halo5 is also the 2nd most pre orderd game and is already getting called one of the GREATS aka 1,2, and 3. If you start talking about stuff you clearly dont know your gonna get your *ss handed to you. Im guessing you probably 12 and just go with the crowd even when their wrong, aw so young but so blind, maybe some day you'll actually bother to search up information and not just repeat because you saw or heard it on youtube, like i said though dont talk sh*t if you have no idea what you talking about ;)

343 has yet to make a game that was not broken, trash. 343 has killed, cut, and ruined everything that I ever loved about Halo. The custom games, and the community from earlier Halos is all but killed completely. Split screen and fun with family and friends, the biggest and the most important part of Halo is completely removed, they say to free up space for graphics. The online gameplay that was renowned as being the best of it's and any other genre has been changed, watered down, and perverted, into a COD copy. This is not Halo, this is a completely different, and worse game made by worse people, cashing in on the amazing prestige and recognition of the Halo name. They have taken a game that was in almost every way perfect, and turned it into something unrecognizable, and a disappointment to anyone who respected the original developers and game. Microsoft and 343 take advantage of loyal fans that buy their games, because fabs are hoping and wishing that maybe the next Halo will be like it was, that maybe, just maybe, they can pull it all around. The fact is Bungie finished their game, they finished Halo, this is Microsoft desperately trying to cash in and get as much money as they can, beating the horse, and then when Bungie decided that they would not destroy their game anymore, Microsoft built a new company that would. I'm sorry, but now when I look at Halo all I can think of is all the fun I use to have with friends and how this will never live up to what it was. Microsoft will pay 343 to make Halo games until people stop buying them, it will eventually become a yearly release COD style copy past job, there is no love left in this game, it is just a disappointment.

First off, this a group of highly trained SPARTAN-IV's all hand picked to hunt down Master Chief and Blue Team. Second off, when you are fighting one enemy and some other enemy seemingly appears out of thin air behind you, where the rest of your team was just alive five seconds ago, and jumps on your back you are not going to immediately think "Argh an enemy! Quickly, throw them off of my back and kill them!" no you are going to be like "Hey Terry stop fucking around we are in a warzone!". And lastly they only killed what was directly in front of them, they didn't destroy any spaceships, and they didn't just start mowing down hordes of enemies, they killed what they needed to in order to make it to their objective in one piece.

Look: Spartans are trained since childhood in order to minimize the impact of those senses of danger and urgency. The UNSC usually recruits children that went through a lot of negative experiences during their childhood so they won't experience a bigger emotional impact. They use chemicals to make them taller, stronger, faster and a lot smarter than any marine, meaning that they would have around 10 times faster reflexes than a normal person. They can endure for weeks without eating or sleeping. Some of them even know about electronics. Also, they are all used to being at their limits during any fight. I must say I'm not disappointed by this scene since it retrieves a lot from the Masterchief's experience from the first 3 games of the Halo saga. But, well you could tell -by the context of this scene- it seems like 343 industries gave these characters some whole new devices and abilities of massive destruction in order to make them more overpowered than they were already, which is an improvement in comparison to any of the previous games. But well, you know it's their game so they can make anything happen and screw logic :P

Im sorry this looks absolutely ridiculous and doesnt seem like halo what so ever. Only thing the does obviously is the look of all the characters. Thanks 343 for making another CoD.
