Halo Infinite Diorama with Ultra Realistic Scenery

Perfect pines, a dusty road, beautiful mountains... what's not to love about the scenery in the Halo Infinite trailer from E3 in 2018?
I have been wanting to recreate this for ages and when I needed a step by step on pines for the book I am writing, this was my first thought. It's stunning scenery that is at home in the Pacific North West or Canada. It is in S-scale (1/64) which is a lovely model railroad scale if you haven't seen it - half way between HO and O.
I am still trying to work out what to do with my larger Warthogs so if you have any ideas, please let me know.

very very good job:). im thinking a very interesting diorama would be a space themed Dio . u know the mars landscape complete with iron oxide rocks and red sand dunes and maybe a gross looking alien resin figure sittin in the middle heh heh that would be cool.

From the front the vehicle and the dust cloud look even more convincing...I have used that stuff for cigarette smoke and it can look very real but you really nailed this!

I want to point out that a lot of halo's design language when it comes to nature is derived from the developers moving to washington during the first game's development, so your intro is spot on

Your attention to detail pays off, Kathy. Those woodland scenic rock casts are full of detail, but need careful selection/placement to ensure that they don’t just look like a mixture of random sedimentary and igneous prototypes haphazardly cast over a scene. Well done!

Super sick!!! Growing up playing the games, one of my favorite things to do was to "stick" a vehicle with a plasma grenade and watch it explode and flip around. I would say do some sort of plasma explosion scene with the bigger warthogs. That would be really cool. But anyway awesome work!

I'm Australian, and love your vids for learning a huge variety of techniques, and love my countryman Luke Towan's vids for his brilliant Australian landscapes. I appreciate your understated honesty and how you fix your mistakes - something I have needed to learn a lot of. I like Luke's work for its Australian reality, - our trees , rocks, grasses, shrubs, soil and landscapes are so different to Europe/North America and he has nailed how to do them. Most of the grasses, ground covers, leaves etc from people like Woodland Scenics and Noch are not right for Australian landscapes - way too green. We're not England's "Green and pleasant land", we're a "Sunburnt Country, a land of sweeping plains, droughts and flooding rains." Keep up the good work Kathy.

Umbers are great for undercoats on this link of work. You can not expect 100% coverage of any turf or grasses, and even if you are going to paint over on the ocks etc, that undercoat makes a difference.

Enjoyed watching that. Great results. Clouds (dust clouds or fluffy things in the sky) are always really difficult to model, a bit like fire. Film-makers must be so pleased they can do fire, water etc with CGI now rather than models!

You know it's good when you can hear the diorama. The only complaint is the chrome/metallic monolith, I like the stone look a lot more.

Looks great! Little tip: a tiny "dust" trail over the front wheels and a small cloud of dust right in front of those makes it look like the rocks and dust are flung around like on a rally car. That would sell it 100% for me.

This is amazing! Well done! I'm a big Halo fan so this is an incredible realization of the ring world. An idea for a diorama to use both vehicles like the Warthog and Mongoose ATV would be maybe a cool launch bay garage type area that would be inside a UNSC ship. Or maybe the Mongoose and Warthog on standby near a UNSC gate control area or something?
