Got cancelled because Konami are bitches and were mad at Kojima. That's the simple answer.

Sadly Konami cancelled it and removed it from the store so it can never be downloaded again, even if you own it. That's why so many people remake it, hoping to give the experience to people who never got the chance, despite all the cease and desists.
