You need to go back and do the electricity arc again and get everyone to stand close to the initial zap. It might be a radius thing and not a max chain thing. Might also explain why you got 6 people on the 2nd test because the initial zap was in the centre of the 6
@BringTheSteak2 жыл бұрын
You cab also try formations other than a line to test branching. You can try a triangle of people where the first row has 1 person, second 2 ppl, third four ppl etc to test if it will branch twice and still travel 6 deep for each individual arc. Or do the same with 1, 3, 9, etc to teat if itll branch three times and travel 6 deep.

9:40 i imagine the plasma grenades don't stick to weapons because they are the only grenades intended to propel them out of racks, since there's the Combat Evolved medal that happens if you catch them out of the air (seen in the first MP trailer)
@hugs4drugs2052 жыл бұрын
In a previous video they demonstrated that you can drop a weapon that's stuck with a plasma to avoid death, I know your referencing unequipped weapons but it still presents a physics paradox
@Kobalent2 жыл бұрын
@@hugs4drugs205 it is possibly a specific override that happens when weapons are not being held by a player to make Combat Evolved's more consistent. the reason this override isn't present when holding the weapon is likely because they become extensions of the player's hitbox and it'd be counter-intuitive to have a grenade bounce off of an enemy's weapon when you can shoot it and inflict damage.

naw it is based of a damage calculation. It halves the damage ever arc from the previous arc and splits further half it (at least that is what it seems like) once the damage would be too little it stops. I think the max is probably hitting 12 targets but you would probably need a flat plane to work on to make sure everything is perfectly spaced.
@southpawdevelopment2 жыл бұрын
Perhaps I can shed some light on the “stick to weapon and then pick it up” myth: in games like this, the weapon you see on the ground is NOT the weapon you pick up. Upon picking up a weapon, the weapon on the ground is deleted and it’s stats are transferred to a first/third person gun, created in your characters hands. Upon dropping a weapon, the process is similar, except the physical model is the same (not deleted and replaced, but is actually dropped) which is why when you drop a stuck weapon, the stuck items stays
@dbb00kw0rm2 жыл бұрын
I suspect it's more for the Combat Evolved medal- if you toss a plasma onto a weapon platform, it launches the weapon to you. Doing this to a heavy weapon and catching it in midair gives you the Combat Evolved medal. If the plasma stuck to the weapon it'd make Combat Evolved much harder on heavies with large hitboxes like the SPNKR, Cindershot, and Skewer.

I recall one of the halos' sandboxes retaining plasma/spike grenades upon pickup... maybe I'm imagining it though. You do describe the idea well though! a bigger mind-fuck is that the 3D model of the gun that other players see is often a totally different 3D model than the one that you see in first-person mode. The first person gun "model" includes the players arms! Of course this varies from game to game. I say this coming from a source engine background.

They actually give lore behind the plasma grenade. I don't no much of what's it's called but it is basically a smart grenade. It detects if what it has landed on is organic or had a organic attached to it. That's why you can still plasma grenade the weapon their holding.

3:50 you can do more arcs probably if you back up the players and do a pyramid type pattern going outwards towards the players with the guns. If u had enough players and guns on the ground in theory it could be infinite
@ShiningDarknes2 жыл бұрын
No, it couldn't. Guns and players are treated the same as far as arcing is concerned. It also misbehaves when you form a circle and instead of arcing out from the center to all targets it will just choose 2. 2 seems to be the max number of splits per arc and 4 is the max number of arcs. But I guess if you want to get technical one arc would be infinite seeing as that is the name of the game.

When it comes to the discrepancy between spike and plasma grenades sticking to weapons, it does make sense given the explanation of how they work. A spike grenade sticks because it's literally covered in spikes that pierce what you throw it at, and metal piercing metal is totally reasonable. Plasma grenades, on the other hand, stick to people because when they activate, their surface becomes so hot that it melts flesh and fuses to the target. 180-190 degrees F is all that takes, if I recall correctly, while it would require a massively higher temperature to heat up the metal of a gun to the point where a grenade would nearly instantly weld to it.

Also you might try throwing plasma nades through drop wall because I don't think they go and instead just blow up the wall which means it's the plasma material that just doesn't go through the wall which is kinda interesting... Maybe plasma rifles if that's true?

In the spike grenade propulsion test, using a closed environment like the hallways that have angled walls seems to be counter-intuitive. The spikes are made to launch in multiple directions, and they have the ability to bounce of walls in different directions, so it is technically possible that the spikes bounced off walls then hit you guys. I'm not sure if you tried throwing a couple spike grenade first without using propulsion, since you didn't show it in the video, but it would definitely help explain how it isn't the walls causing the spikes to hit people.

the threat sensor just disappearing is actually a relatively frequent occurrence in normal gameplay because when you stick it to a player, be they friend or enemy, and they die, the threat sensor also just gets deleted and doesn't get transferred to the ragdoll, similar to how it doesnt transition to your hands if you pick up a weapon it has been stuck to i assume that is because in both of these cases, the object the sensor is stuck to, and the one after switching states (concretely a living player vs. a ragdoll and a weapon on the ground vs. a weapon in hand) are two separate entities, and correctly transferring the sensor would be relatively complicated to do and most likely didn't fit into their already VERY tight timeframe i wouldn't necessarily say this is an oversight too, clearly there has been a lot of thought and love put into this sandbox. and in the case with the spike grenades they clearly programmed it so they specifically blow up instantly when they would normally just be deleted, so that they at least do something. and as for plasma nades they avoided it by having them not stick to weapons at all so obviously these edge cases have somewhat been thought about i think that considering this game is supposed to basically be a lifeservice game for the upcoming decade, they will maybe change up the sandbox at some point if they find time because niche scenarios like these really are what make a sandbox like this shine imo, so it would be nice if they would revisit these interactions at some point and actually make something cool happen whenever they organically happen and this basically applies to all or most of the busted myths across this series that they are just too niche of an interaction that they bothered to make them work completely, and that they will give them more love at some point well, that's what i hope at least, but maybe it's also completely intentional, i don't work for 343
