thats actually real shit tho hunters do it all the time as long as u do not move and are sorta blended u just wont be seen think about how a red tiger hides in a green forest u can have a deer walk up to 5 feet from u without realizing ur there and this works both ways my first time hunting i walked 10 feet away from a deer before realizing it because it wasn't moving at all and i wasn't directly looking at it until it moved

I think everyone thinks Atriox is just some brute but clearly they didn’t see his back story, he’s obviously got augments like on his arms and he’s fought humanity probably for a very long time. Fun fact: Atriox only crushes with his hand with the shoulder plate. When he crushes the holotable at the end of HW2 original campaign, we see that a plate lifts up after he lifts his hand, meaning that his shoulder plate arm is probably some sort of hydraulic prosthetic.

Red Team was geared for a recon mission. Not for heavy close quarters combat. They were caught off guard, ambushed and on the defensive right away because of it. He knew how to deal with Spartans and ODSTs, he took and used that knowledge to catch them off guard. He was large even for brute standards, was heavily armored and "had the high ground." If they'd been able to prepared for it I feel it's safe to say Atriox would have been the one dragged away to a medic.

The room doesn't have to be lit, because the helmets they have recognizes targets and threats, marks them on their radar, and probably has a some sort of night vision in the visor, or partially light the room inside their helmets. They just got owned. The hammer is what tilts the fight. Once he hit the ground with the hammer the fight was over.

The Banished are pretty strong, They're pretty much the only faction that stood against the Flood, and Atriox survived every suicide mission he was sent on while others failed. He is a formidable opponent and can go toe to toe with anyone due to his experience and intelligence.

I don't think Chief would win. As much as love the master chief as a character i don't think he could win. If you read Halo First Strike when Chief and the remaining spartans from reach are on the giant supply ship they run into brutes for the first time. In this part chief gets into a fight with one and has trouble taking it down (plus i think it was just a standard brute not a captain or chieftain)

Well i think this scene is perfectly legit. It gives a better sense of danger, caracterising the character of Atriox, and later on of the Pariah faction. Reading the first Novels, and replaying the games, Halo has this sense of defeat, of urgence ... The human race is actually going to be annihilated. I find this scene beautiful, and one of those like the darth Vader scene in Rogue one which gives us a real punch in the guts. Atriox let them go away as he unmystifies the Spartans, crushing the cask and showing their face, like no one else did before him. By doing this, he did much more than simply killing them.

There's also the part where, you know they literally just got out of cryo and are still pretty much thawing. at the start of the game like this cut scene, yes they got fucked up but around the end one spartan on his own "092 Jerome" takes out elites and brutes with ease. in conclusion if they knew what they were fighting against and were actually warmed up they quite possibly would have won

As much as I hate the fight between Locke and chief I now realize why it played out the way it did. Master chief has protected the human race ever since the human covenant war started. Why would he want to hurt/kill a human being he worked so hard to protect in the past? Like if you honestly pay attention to every halo game chief is in the main theme is saving humanity from the flood, covenant, didact and now cortana. I get that chief has killed humans before but that was before the real threats to humanity became apparent. ONI and the UNSC screwed chief over and it would be entirely out of character for some act of revenge or hunt to happen. There was false advertising to do with the whole chief vs Locke thing but I am glad that chief didn’t destroy Locke’s ass or kill him. I don’t like Locke whatsoever but that would have killed Chief as a character in my opinion. One more thing to add is that I think Chief already realized that he would’ve beat the hell out of Locke no doubt but he was on a mission. it was like Arthur Dayne vs Ned Stark off of game of thrones. Chief was really just trying to incapacitate Locke without causing serious damage. It didn’t help that Locke is also on par with Spartan ll’s due to his armour so that’s why there was such difficulty getting Locke out of the way without Locke fighting back as evenly (not really) but you know what i mean. That’s what I think really happened.

The were there to aid Locke on the way to finding chief and the rest of blue team, which I find hilarious. Osiris knew they were in the wrong by trying to stop Chief although Locke was just following orders. Notice how even buck said “you know everyone is gonna hate us for this” to Locke in the beginning.

i dont understand the spartan 4s, they are adult volunteers but i dont recall any mention of them being augmented through surgery, just that they are above average soldiers with fancy armor. The spartan 2s werent just randomly chosen either, they were the most genetically "perfect" specimens of humanity found throughout the entire human population. Their armor augments their speed and strength by a factor of 3 irrc, and their speed and strength is already around 3 times faster than a normal human due to augments. The armor agumented speed so much it ripped normal humans bones apart just trying to move thats why only they could handle it. So if spartan 4s havent recieved augments then that must mean their armor is just.. armor with shields, not further enhancing strength or speed, at least not by much. With that in mind any spartan 2 would wipe the floor with a spartan 4, even aside from the augments and armor differences they were given the most brutal training since an early age and are genetically perfect, even compared to an ODST a spartan just on training and genetics alone would wipe the floor with anyone else in the military. The books also reference a fight between chief and a brute, in which yes the brute is a bit stronger than chief, but not by so much that he cant win, its about the same difference as a 250lb guy fighting a 180lb guy, through technique, training, ridiculously enhanced reflexes and speed the chief wins. Remember also that force is mass multipled by acceleration, spartan punches and kicks would be so fast Bruce Lee would blush. And contain so much force that a punch would shatter the skull of even a Brute, its simple physics, Brutes are larger, and have more weight based strength, but no technique and not much speed. That being said it is perfectly plausible that a single Brute could beat a spartan 2 in CQB, especially a chieftain or someone liek Atriox, however 3 spartans vs 1 brute, even Atriox? no chance, spartans are trained from childhood to work as a team theres no way 3 spartans would lose to Atriox like that imo.

Don’t forget that Atriox is wearing his own kind of power armor. Yes, brutes are strong, but Atriox was able to crush part of the shoulder and chest piece of Douglas because of his armor enhancements.

atriox has no enhancements at all. The metal gauntlet was from an injury sustained by an energy sword. All brutes are stronger than spartans that's true. However crushing any sort of armor like that would be physically impossible with his hand or gauntlet considered how thick and strong it is even though its only mark 4 not to mention shielding.

I think you went about this the wrong way. I think you shouldve analyzed every action and move with in the fight. Then asked does it make sense? Would they have done that? Could atriox actually ambush them? Could he lift a spartan several feet up with just one arm? Did it make sense for the female Spartan to run straight at atriox while shooting the magnum and get promptly side swiped? Would the 2nd male Spartan (don't remember the name of the guy besides Jerome) try to go for a second attempt at stabbing the brute after it knocks the shotgun out of his hand? Could atriox be able crush his shoulder armor enough to even crush the shoulder? Are the Spartans moving as fast as they should be? Are they moving the way a spartan would think to maneuver? I think those are the real questions you should be asking.

I know it adds drama when the Spartans show pain, but that's inaccurate to the lore. Spartans are trained to never show pain, and this very characteristic is one of the reasons the covenant called them demons. I'm not sure where this exactly comes from, but I know there was an instance where a member of the covenant saw a severely injured Spartan and was shocked by how it showed no sign of pain, even though it was dying. A great example of this is when John got hit twice by 343 guilty spark's laser and didn't make a noise then proceeded to get up and fight. I haven't played halo wars 2 yet, but the part where one of the Spartans of red team getting his/her armor crushed just bothers me, seeing as from the Halo novel "First strike" red team crash lands onto reach, in the course of the crash landing they lost most of their weapons and even some Spartans even had damaged armor, but this didn't stop them, they used what they had, salvaging replacements for their broken armor from Spartans who died in the crash and using rocks as projectiles to kill jackals and take their plasma pistols. I just don't think that the same red team Spartans would lay on the ground in a life or death situation.

I would agree with you in the case of Chief V Locke but as for Red Team, that win was legit. Outdated gear, overconfidence, lack of intel, and several other things held the spartans back. Meanwhile brutes have always been stronger than spartans. Atriox also has enhanced armor, a genius level intellect, and NEVER underestimates an opponent.

My argument with Atriox and I don't know how Masterchief could ever understand this since he just see's this Brute as a threat. Atriox was oppressed by the Covenant leaders and he wants to give other castaways a home among his flock by proving themselves as warriors. I feel Atriox is less of a Villain and more of a respectable leader trying to break the mold kind of like how Racism has been a continuing factor he wants to step on those who oppressed him with lies and deceit. I don't want Atriox to end up being a mindless villain especially since he reflects a lot of John 117 in regards to both growing up in the same time period, each can rally allies to their cause just by being in the presence of others, and each have something they are fighting for greater than just themselves. Atriox is brutal but he has a warriors spirit and the fact he let Red Team go to reflect on their mistakes proves he isn't just a maniac with a bloodlust. If we end up fighting Atriox in the end I want it to be memorable and I want the fight to be scary I want him to feel like a real challenge and someone who can't just be taken down cheaply and I want him to respect Masterchief and Masterchief to respect him as warrior on the battlefield like The Chief and The Arbitor have for each other. their are a lot of Possibilities to make Atriox a very complex character and not as a villain but as an Anti-Hero with layers at least that's how I would design his arch going forward. Give us another character with a complex growth the best characters always do don't make another Tartarus 343. I want to like this character more in the end. I want a Foil for masterchief especially since I feel Atriox is The Masterchief of the Brutes.

I would have loved Halo Wars as an FPS, having us play as a sort of Master Chief sub with one of Red team or as Atriox or something like that. They could have made it an experiment in different GP points of view. They could make it a strategy game as well by using an improved version of the command system in Halo 5 which was one sort of cool thing they could have had for like an ODST game.

Halo 5 had the opportunity to showcase Spartan time, Spartan Reflexes, Spartan Agility--the stuff quoted as difficult to track by the human eye...instead we got two drunks fighting. What shambles. Atleast in In Halo Wars 2 we get to see what monstrosity a Brute really is. Superbeing for all human intents and purposes. Made A Spartan weighs *1000Ls+* in Armor. Atriox lifted them effortlessly. I feel like a lot of people in the Halo community really under appreciate the significance of that scene and just how ridiculously powerful the Brute species are

It was three Spartan II’s with only about 6 years of combat experience each. Atriox, on the other hand, is a Special Operations Assassin (and now a Mercenary Warmaster) with decades of combat experience fighting in some of the most fiercest of combat zones. He may only be around a year older than them, but unlike Red Team, he wasn’t in cryosleep for 28 years and has actually lived his life fighting far longer than they have. Atriox was honing his skills that entire time fighting against Humanity’s and the Covenant’s best warriors; whereas Red Team was forced to slumber. It was not the fairest of fights, but no fight _ever_ is. Atriox was at least courteous enough to announce his presence to Red Team by making noise for them in the next room. In effect, he was challenging them to come in to fight him and they did knew full well that someone had to be in there. So they came in with weapons at the ready and he still whooped them against three-to-one odds.

Atriox is how you introduce a new badass character that breaks the mold. You don’t see him ripping through an army in a cartoony and stupid fashion. He is introduced in the shadows which is where he and the banished have been through the war. He fights off 3 sort of base level Spartans even inflicting a chunk of damage to make them aware of a threat. And the icing on the cake of his new threat to Halo is his hammer! A red blade that lights up the room in a blood red hue. Mocking the Spartans as little demons, he lets them go only to reveal his cunning as to have them followed to their home base proving he is both smart and powerful. A successor of the covenant and possibly one of humanity’s greatest enemies who later prove are capable of stopping a flood outbreak which was shown to be not possible for the Covenant and humanity. SHOW DON’T TELL and they showed us with only a bit of telling.

In case you didn't know, and just to drop some Lore. He mocks them as little Demons since the Covenant called Spartan II's and especially Master Chief, Demon. When they started fighting Humans the Humans were smaller than Elites and Brutes, they saw us just as little weaklings, like Grunts. Then suddenly these Dudes in Armor appear, way taller than any Human encountered before, they suddenly are stronger and faster than even Elites and they start ripping through their Armies because even one Spartan II could potentially turn the tide in a fight. They were so different than any Human encountered before that the Covenant legit wasn't even sure if these Warriors were Human to begin with and they couldn't capture one to confirm, so rumors started to spread through the Covenant about these...Demons that appear on the Battlefield. But not everyone in the Covenant feared the Spartans, like Atriox for example. But as we saw here, he himself wasn't sure about *what* the Spartans are. He suspected they are just humans as his words confirm, but maybe even he had his doubts until he almost killed Douglas and saw that they were indeed "just" Human.

Someone already mentioned how Atriox's armor could be enhancing his strength and reflexes and how the Spartans were only defrosted from decades of cryo hours before, and they had never met the Banished. But the some of the Banished have met the UNSC. In fact, Atriox came up with the idea because he was always the lone survivor of suicide platoons sent in against the UNSC. Atriox knows the UNSC and how they operate and how to kill them. Plus, he's more competant and tactical than most Jiralhanae, wearing more practical looking full body armor and he also has a mechanical hand, giving him more strength in melee. Additionally, as you said in the video, Atriox was familiar with killing ODSTs and defeating Spartans.

@@CedricBassman They did not encounter organised and well armed brutes. Prior to Halo 2's schism event the brutes wore basically no armor and had to use modified covenant standard weapons. IIRC the Brute Plasma Rifle wasn't even 'legal' due to it being an Elite creation (they're very zealous about their pre-Covenant design weapons, particularly the energy sword which is practically a sacred relic of their history to them). During and after the schism the brutes acquired Elite armor and it's likely the prophets rapidly worked on designing their new protectors, armor prior the In Amber Clad infesting High Charity with Flood. With proper equipment and their own weapons introduced to the arsenal, the brutes become far more dangerous, especially under their own hierarchy/leadership. Red Team may have been aware of Brutes, but they were not aware of the schism and its effects on the Brutes, instead they were operating under extremely outdated and nearly useless intel on their enemy, additionally they were facing a commander who was specifically experienced in killing Spartans and ODSTs, it was an incredibly poor matchup to begin with.

Which would have helped tremendously in a fight such as this. Especially against a foe that wielded a mace with energy blades on it. That, and the shielding being able to absorb much of the kinetic impact of the blows from it so with armor as outdated as it was, it's small wonder that they lost to an enemy they had virtually no idea was there and 0 information about

I think the Chief would win. As you say, Atriox won because of the conditions and fore-thought he put into his encounter with Red Team along with his strength. And due to them having outdated armor, weapons, and being initial washouts. John-117 has the latest armor, the best skills, and the most experience out of all the Spartan-ll's. On a one-on-one encounter I believe he would win 10/10 times. That's not to say that it would be easy though, or even to say that John will get to finish the job.

Look, I’m no lore expert... however, Halo Wars (1) occurred 20 years before Halo CE. Red Team were in cryo for years. Whereas Atriox and his Banished were from the present time. Surely technological advantage, as well as experience from all of the events that both Red Team and the Spirit of Fire were asleep for, should be more than enough to back up the results of this fight. Yeah especially when you consider the kept aiming their guns and knives at parts of Atriox’s body that on most brutes are unarmored. After seeing his tribe constantly slaughtered he probably realized where and how the UNSC elite attack and armored there specifically. He also could turn around and hit Spartans attacking from behind seemingly as though he knew the attack was coming. I would imagine the Spartans and ODSTs had their own standardized martial training which Atriox has faced so many times he could predict that if a Spartan is out of his field of vision he’ll know where it’ll attack from, or if he attacks and dazed them all at once in close quarters placing himself in the middle the likelihood of them opening fire with a friendly just behind him would drop way down and force it into a largely melee engagement where he has the clear advantage. The fight makes perfect sense. Heck I wouldn’t be surprised if the color of his mace or armor he wore made him had some kind of coating that messed with Spartan night vision.

The Battle Rifles they use are old but they're still as good as the new ones. Same with their pistols. The only out dated thing is their armor and their armor is still strong as shit. Halo CEs armor is pretty much the same in terms of strength but the new armor is a lot better for it's abilities. The only thing Atriox has (that he used in the fight) that's "advanced" is his mace thing and it's not as strong as the gravity hammer unless you're extremely strong and use it full force

Though not stated in any novels/comics but my own theory is the one thing I have always thought what made Atriox so powerful is perhaps his suit? Maybe like the Spartan armor it augmented his already overwhelming natural physical strength as well as reflexes to a greater degree. Another factor, I think the Spartan 2's did just wake up after having 3 decade of napping leaving them a tad rusty. Also another is that they underestimated Atriox as they may have simply passed him off as another Brute. Though given another chance of an encounter I think Red team would fair better after their first defeat, as in halo lore Spartan 2s will learn quickly, adapt and only get stronger. You could say that Atriox was proficient in...Guerrilla warfare ;)

another note is the spartan 2s were still wearing mark 4 armor compared to the more advance mark 6, furthermore, they have been in cryo for 30 years. That means 30 years of experience they need to catch up on however, it does show how quickly Jerome was able to adapt and learn and was easily able to single handed take out the banish brutes on the carrier. Though granted these were just minor brutes and not Atriox himself. Just proved my point that they are capable after learning from their mistake :D. Oh and I just read from halo wiki that the suit is not an exosuit rather than just a simple armor he wears. The only thing that augments his strength is his modified gauntlet on his right arm :D x

He wears armor because of protection his hand was injured because of the energy sword I dint think people understand that even a regular brute would be able to crush Spartan armor a regular brute is just as fast as an augmented Spartan that already should tell you enough master cheif is also extremely tall as are all Spartans people don't understand that from a normal point of view the brutes are roughly 9 feet tall and weigh 1200 pounds but can still move as fast and hit harder than Spartans in power armor

@@johnherrera5261 it is physically impossible for a being to exert enough grip force with a unassisted hand to crush a titanium alloy plate that is several centimeters thick. sorry. bones in the hand would break is your first problem, then the sheer impossibility of a musculature that has that kind of strength (we are talking grip force in the metric tons). have you ever seen a metal sheering machine? they use thousands of pounds of force to sheer plates of mild steel (much weaker than hardened steel let alone hardened titanium alloy) that are measured in millimeters.

Even with red team in practice I still think they would have lost that fight due to these conditions, they had no idea he was there, they were unprepared for fighting him, and that Atriox is one of the strongest and most intelligent brutes in existence. Atriox also has a lot of experience in the field as well.

@@jared_r_sam4698 Atriox was credited with killing 4 odsts as a major accomplishment, there's no way he would have beaten three Spartans, also he had no helmet, only had a melee weapon, and the Spartans were not in close range except for Jerome, meaning the other 2 could have killed him with an easily placed shot to the head, especially considering they were using battlerifles

A charging brute can kill you in one hit. It takes several from the chief to knock down a brute. Getting into the expanded lore is a whole other thing. Brutes are beasts

Red team had about roughly 6 years of combat experience each, while Atriox had several decades of combat experience, and honed his skills fighting against humanity and the covenant, Red team, on the other hand, was in cryosleep for 26 (i think) years... if Red team had 26 years of experience *each,* I bet they could take down Atriox.

Cause the cut scene was good but lame. In recon mode those Spartans would have ars... Ars wouldve mostly been the reason they lost. Also ar br dmr shouldve been marine upgrades/ odst upgrades along with shotgun or odst smg. The scenes just set up so they lose and it establishes bad guy. Yet you never fight him directly again.. It was done wrongly in short.

@guy king Okay..... how then do you explain the literally hundreds of other Brutes Chief managed to stomp his way through? Keeping in mind the Brutes he fights later have better armor and shielding then the one he fought in First Strike. In ODST, a bunch of non augmented humans also beat a whole bunch of Brutes. Basically, you cant draw conclusions based on ONE interaction but then ignore the literally thousands of others where they DONT operate at Chiefs level.

@Thelondonbadger I'm not talking about cutscenes. I mean, in that game, you all fight and kill many many Brutes. Also, why are we trying to divide up showings between ranged and non ranged? Of course chief uses his guns lol. Red Team ALSO could have used their guns if they had half a brain. See my original points on this. There are also examples of Fred killing Brutes up close and personal in the books btw. Spartan 3's on Reach killed a bunch as well. In flashback sequences of Halsey explaining her Spartans (h4) we totally DO in fact see Chief terminator his way through a chieftain. He knees it in the face at close quarters. They are tough, but hardly invincible considering the sheer number of kills you get on them playing as everything from Arbiter, to Noble 6, to ODSTS, to Chief etc. Hell, Sarah Palmer kills a chieftain BEFORE she becomes a spartan. They are very strong, but this scene was full of Plot Induced Stupidity.

Yes, Chief later can destroy Brutes... but given how he nearly died in his FIRST encounter with a brute, due to not knowing what they were capable of or the right tactics. Whivh is pretty much what we see here: three Spartans who have never fought brutes before, are caught off guard in close quarters. Same situation that Chief nearly died to.

I think the main point was that Atriox was a beast and a different kind of brute aswell as he was really good at fighting as well as fighting the elites and even the spartans were having some trouble. I love this video though but it seems like the spartans are always over glorified like they are invincible and aren't human but at the same time Spartans never die. He was just extra brute lol spartans can't win every fight and they did get out of there

The Spartans aren't invincible in the sense they are human, however no death of Spartans has been portrayed like this. The entire scene made no sense, they simply sat there doing nothing for seconds, which for Spartan time is an eternity. If Atriox hadn't been alone, yeah I could understand that. But him taking out an experienced Spartan team outnumbered without even a helmet? No, they could have just him in the eyes and he wouldn't be able to do a thing.

Well trained soldiers can bring their guard up within milliseconds of it being down. Being caught off guard would be useful for the first strike, but against someone like Spartans the advantage is lost after that.

@@deejnutz2068 they had a few hours at most. Also that isn't always true do some research about cryo sleep the negative effects of prolong use can lead to brain damage and muscle damage. Sure maybe they weren't affected but I would imagine that 30 years of inactivity cause some issues. For instance the fact they all tried to go one on one against atriox is idiotic. They should have gone any him as a team. That's what any Spartan fire team would do. But I think since they were still not 100% they weren't thinking straight as well.
