Just a tip for anyone having a hard time with this: when you're in the tunnel trying to get the Banshee to follow you to the end, shooting it/near it does almost nothing. The best way I know of to get the shee to follow you is to just be directly behind it. So if it gets stuck in a corner, run right up to it, get directly behind it and then just walk strait back. After just a few feet it should turn around and come after you again. If its flying far away just run after it as fast as you can while trying to be directly behind it. Once you get close enough it will spin around and come after you. The key is to be DIRECTLY behind it. Not off to the side, not almost behind it, you need to see that elites ass to get his attention. Also if anyone wants to know why you need to go through all this to get the Scarab gun, its because if you try boarding the shee before the loading screen, the game will fling you HARD back out the tunnel.

My favorite part of Halo 2 isn't the scarab gun but the area around it. The buildings and floors that serve as background images are all solid, which let's you explore out of bounds. This sets Halo apart from other FPS's and makes Bungie my second favorite game company.

Helpful Hints: 1. Get a ghost at the beginning since shooting it while backing up and slightly looking away from the banshee does help so much when trapping it. 2. When trying to get the banshee through the doorway, move behind the banshee. The banshee's AI will "activate" and look at you if you're behind it. Thanks for the video Ray as well as thank-you to Maka for also giving an excellent guide for these achievements.

You can also get the soccer ball by using a ghost to boost through the building you enter later, this allows you to get back outside before the Scarab blows up the Scorpion tank. Take the tank, drive it up to the building the ball is in, flip the tank, stand of top of it and press whichever button to cause it to flip back on it's treads and it'll launch you up to the ball.

There's a much easier way to get the Scarab gun. When you reach the part where the Scarab walks under the bridges, go to the last bridge. On the last bridge is a tiny box, if you move the box directly under where the gun is and then fire a rocket on the ground, it will launch you up.

I've never tried that way, but if you're going to get the gun, this is the only way to get it because of how much of the level that's left that you can use it to kill with. Also, I've never had any difficulty with this method except for getting the Banshee in the tunnel to begin with. Once it started following me, it was smooth sailing.

I did this yesterday. I had problems with luring the banshee, but after I started honking the horn with the ‘hog it followed me willingly. At the tight gap where Ray speeds up the video because he has a tough time, I didn’t struggle that much. I just stood at the oposite side from the hole. I chased it to that side and when it came at me I ran into the tunnel so that he flew straight into the tunnel with me. Boarding it was what I found the biggest challenge.

I've never seen this Banshee trick, I always rocket jumped to the scarab gun and for the soccerball I would jump under the shattered glass and grenade jump my way up.

I got the GOAL achievement using one of those Wraith tanks in the area and arcing a mortar inside that building where the ball is. A much easier way to do this if you already got the scarab gun using the Banshee and didn't realize the ball was there.

I got the Scarab Gun, thanks to the help of my friend. He, sadly, didn't get the achievement when I dropped it for him. You can only get the achievement if you're the one who first picks it up.

geez I remember trying to do that in the original halo 2, it was a freaking nightmare. also do you get to keep the scarab gun all through the game? it seems like you originally just got to keep it for that level, but I also remember someone telling me he got another scarab gun every time he picked a plasma rifle in later levels...obviously it's been a while since I played the orginal halo 2 so I don't really remember but I would love being able to hang on to it all through the game in the anniversary pack...or all through all games

yeah just for the level you get it but there is a skull for Halo 2 that makes every weapon shot like the Scarab Gun it disables progression achievements but you could use the skull for a lot of the harder ones then just get the progression ones on normal

The banshee will fly a certain way when you are at different angles. Once you get the hang of that it's easy.

*Personal tip:* we at MRP ALL found it far easier to hijack a ghost and lure the banshee with the ghost as it is FAR easier to navigate backwards. Hope this helped! -_Marcus_

My cousin and I would grab the tank that the scarab destroy, and take it to the bottom of the building that the soccer ball was in, and flip the tank. Then we would get atop of the tank and flip the tank and we would go flying into the sky. Just high enough to get on top of the building. I'm not sure if you have to jump at the same time.

I wonder if they kept the other 3 guns, cause in halo 2, there was 4, this one, and the other 3 you needed like 3 skulls on to get. All are in the this level, I know one was when the scarab shoots a scorpion tank, you need to super grenade jump in front of it right before it fires, and another one was near the beach, forget where the 4th one was.

So does the other Scarab Gun in the previous level exist in the MCC? Cause that's the one I always picked up. Had to drive a Ghost into the ocean and use it to catapult yourself up under the Scarab, grab the gun mid-air.

Note: DO NOT turn on Sputnik for this. I accidentally left it on from doing the 10 minutes achievement, and I spent an hour at the end of the tunnel blowing up and having the Banshee spaz out because of the skull.

I used the box method and got first shot it's much easier as long as you line it up exactly only thing is you can't the gun down of the bridge

I just did this and went exploring a bit in the banshee around the limits of the map and found something odd. If you acquire the scarab gun and turn around and look directly at the bridge that's half there, turn to the right 90 degrees and look slightly down and on the other side of the map behind a huge building to the right, where the area is seemingly grey and nothing is there, their are 4 curved pipes all linear with each other making an odd shape in the middle of nowhere away from any buildings, and you can get out of your banshee and stand on an invisible wall above them. Thought it was strange considering the developers put them there, but why? Anyone know?

PLEASE NOTE: The super jump methods seemingly no longer work. I will need a confirmation because I could just be doing it wrong, or there's a new way in the MCC I'm not aware of, but I can't super jump anymore. I tried with the warthog and it just bounces me a grand total of 3 feet.
