the brutes still having helmets when their shields are down is an interesting change might check this one out

I think it's a nice edition! Never really made sense to me as to why their armor would break off when their shield went down anyway (other then from a gameplay balance perspective)

The helmets remaining on the brutes is a cosmetic change and an actual gameplay change. One of the things I didn't like most about halo 3 was that the brutes would be one shot in the head once their shields are down. I made it so that no longer happens and to visually have that make sense their helmets remain on. However I added a bonus mechanic with this. I still wanted to keep the ability to headshot brutes so I made it so that when you shoot a brutes head it will deal damage to their health directly even if they still have over-shield. I also made it so any weapon will damage this section so even if you use an assault rifle if the bullets hit the head it still counts as a head shot. Finally if you shoot the head enough the helmet actually breaks off and the brute is stunned. If you shoot just the head enough then they will lose their helmet and still have their armor on for their shield.

I thought the point of the helmet and armor coming off was because their power armor was overloaded, not because they had shield gens

@@apex1757 Well if you watch Installation00's video on brute power armor, their armor is powered by plasma and it overloads when under too much fire. It's a stupid design choice by the covenant since when the armor does over load it stuns the wearer.

@@Glacieux If I remember it correctly, the brutes designed it prior to joining the Covenant. The elites didn't trust the brutes and stopped them from accessing more advanced tech, including the brute armor.

There is a mod out there that lets you play as the Arbiter instead of Chief. There's also other mods that add more Elites to the missions. And there is a Swords of Sangehlios campaign that lets you play as an Elite that I covered!

So how did you add elites I’ve been trying this I’m new to modding I’ve been working on some campaign mission I’ve gotten elites and grunts as ally’s but on this mission I’m having trouble with putting the elites in please help?

join this discord if you want help with all things halo modding. discord.gg/urqjKzEb. Go to a mission where there is elites in it already. Then extract the elite char tag you want. Then go back to 70_wasteland and search the word "elite". Rename every tag that has "elite" in it and just add "_old" to it and then click save tag names. Now inject the elite char tag that you exported from the other map into 70_wasteland map. For some reason the default elite char tag that is present in 70_waste is bugged and doesn't work so this gets rid of it and lets you import a working version of the elites.

@@funnyanyway3889 thank you I might have to try that I got them to work in game with my grunt allies now it’s pretty epic lol I did also port the halo 2 anniversary BR over to halo 4 I may upload just the tag file over to nexus for anyone to polish it off I’m trying to add the plasma rifle and SMG and other weapons over too but can’t get them to work 🤷‍♂️

You download the mod from nexus and it will provide you with a few files depending on which campaign maps it replaces. Then you go to the directory where halo is installed for steam that would be steam\steamapps\common\Halo The Master Chief Collection... In this directory open the folder for the game you downloaded the mod for. In this case you would open up the folder "halo3". Then within this folder open the folder "maps". Now take the files that you got from the mod on nexus and drop them in this folder. In the case of this mod you'd put in the "campaign.map", "070_waste.map", and the "shared.map". Then in steam click play on the game and check the box that says "Anti-cheat disabled" if you don't have anti-cheat off then you won't be able to use mods.
