Agnt Vermont PF exactly. I feel like a lot of these you tubers don’t see it from our point of view. We want to pick up where we left off and play through the game again looking the same way we did on 360. If the unlocking system didn’t take so long then maybe it wouldn’t be a problem.

@@tristanhopkins6790 You forgot that Reach 360 was a massive goddamn grind. The new system could be a bit less linear, but when you hit that 40% armour completiob it took ages before your next unlock. I'm talking grinding on the griffball servers, farming for credits every day.

InkyGhoul Still, 343 toned down the grind by at least 20%. It’s hardly even a shorter grind when the armor you want needs millions of XP to gain, and 75-100 hours. The game is about to be 10 years old, everyone who played Reach are about 10 years older, like myself, I’m 19 now and have a job, and college bs. I just want my armor, man. I’m playing every time I can and level up so slowly. KZbinrs may say “Oh it’s so easy and fast!” Yet all they do in their life is play video games for a living. iSpiteful is already at 60 something, Greenskull is probs around 60 as well.

Agreed, the cR system that was in the original Reach wasn't perfect, but it was by far, one of the best armor unlock/customization systems to this date.

Yeah the cR system was hailed as industry revolutionizing across all of gaming, just like how Halo as a whole was regarded in the same way for shooters. And in classic 343i fashion, in their effort to provide us with "the original experience" of Reach, they deleted the entire customization system as a whole. The thing that defined Reach. Gone. Thanks 343.

@KMS I remembered how they did that with ODST. You unlocked each ODST Character as a playable Character in Firefight after beating certain levels in the Campaign. And if you beat the Campaign on Legendary, you got Dare (Veronica) as a playable character.

@Jaron Yes thats good.. I want to earn my stuff, not have it handed to me. It would be too easy. I'm glad they didn't let you keep your old stuff, now I will actually have something to work for. Otherwise it would just be normal pvp with no unlocks. Which gets very boring after a while.

The biggest thing bugging me right now is the map rotations. In 100-ish games of 4v4 slayer, the majority are anniversary maps. I've rarely seen Pinnacle, Asylum, Countdown or even some of the very popular community maps like Select and Imago. It's a little disheartening to have such a shake up to the maps, particularly when some of them absolutely don't suit the game types i.e. BTB DMRs on High Noon or 4v4 Slayer on Solitary/Penance. I would love for the map odds to scale back the anniversary frequency and/or add a veto option.

DLC is weighted more heavily for a reason. Back in 2010 halo had a dlc implementation problem. People with dlc barely got to play it, and people with CE anniversary had to load up a different game just to play those maps. So 343 wants to make up for lost time and give those maps the spotlight. That's how I rationalize it.

DMR starts are shit in general, I love using the DMR but even I can tell the game and maps aren’t balanced for everyone spawning with a mini sniper. It makes the AR usless, and makes reach’s blood gulch an agonizing pain to play

So the way the system is now, there are 10 columns with 10 tiers in each column. I think a good way to create more choice in unlock order would be instead of a linear line, implement column unlocks. For example, let's say you gained 1 token point, you would be allowed to get any tier item within the first column but nothing from the second column unless you spend a certain amount of points, like say 5 or more. This would allow the player greater choice in exactly what tiers they want without losing the value of high tier items.

literally all 343 had to do was copy/paste the cR system and increase the amount of credits you got per game. That's it. Rather than redesign an entirely new and garbage system that betrays the experience of playing Reach, they could have "redesigned" the cR system and bumped up the rewards. Because yes, late game in OG Reach it took months to save up for Armour Effects and stuff.

I played a round of heroic firefight and got an insane amount of xp. Like 36,000 XP - no exaggerating. Drive a warthog for your team and you get crazy xp.

The only only thing I want is to be able to see what rank I am easier, and to see other peoples ranks easier too, they changed the emblems of the warrant officers and everything so I can’t tell if people in the lobby are close to my rank or way higher than me, I thought in this video you were going to name the new ranks and emblems, like is there still inheritor ?

Israel/Izzy V there’s a prestige system now, highest rank is general and then you start over again and points become easy to unlock again because it’s easier to level up.

The reason I've heard most people say "just give me my old unlocks/progress back" is because even if you play on PC through Steam, you still have to sign in through an Xbox account, therefore in theory they could somehow allow you to access your old unlocks. Whether or not that's practical, or if there are any other previous example of this, I'm not sure. But it certainly would have been a cool touch, and if they had been the first to do it, imagine how much good will that could have engendered in the old Halo player base, which has been sticking it's middle finger at Halos 4 and 5 for the past 5 years, and for good reason. 343's track record is pretty horrendous, especially considering the first release of MCC on XB1. My ultimate point is: 343 has earned the ire of old Halo fans, for solid reasoning, whether you or me agree with it. Also, the fact that this is Season 1 and that being an possible cause of why this system isn't fleshed out is a poor excuse, no offense meant. It's clearly battle pass inspired, for the purpose of "keeping player engagement high" when all the old Halo games already did that by just being awesome, balanced, fun games with a plethora of cool activities to do. Halo 3 didn't die out due to lack of interest, Reach came out and split the player base. Reach never died out either, 6 months after Halo 4 was out the player base migrated BACK to Reach. My issue with 343 is the incredibly odd decision making, trying to "improve" on what Bungie did, when it really isn't necessary. Not to say Bungie's work is flawless or perfect, but we already loved it for what it was. No one asked for sweeping changes to progression. Majority of what I'd read of the "dream wish list" for Reach on PC was just KB/M support, 1080p resolutions, and uncapped frame rate. And they've done that, which is awesome, respect to them. I'm happy to be playing Reach PC, it's a dream. I just wish they had a bit better judgement of when and where things might need tweaking. The old progression system was good, and was offset by daily and weekly challenges and commendations. You could do whatever activity you loved and still make tons of progress towards your armor sets. This system just feels grindy for the sake of keeping people playing. I could be wrong about all this honestly, maybe it's just nostalgia clouding me, but man, as someone who's been playing Halo since the beginning, I feel like 343 just doesn't get why people loved Halo so much.

The MCC Halo reach and the original Xbox 360 Halo reach are 2 separate games they are not the same, signing into Xbox live is irrelevant as the game has been completely reworked and remade on a different engine for the Xbox One and PC, you can't just simply flip a switch and you have all your old gear back, that's not how it works. It's rare that a remaster or rerelease allows you to keep old progress. I mean out of the hundreds of rereleases I can only think of GTA Online (not possible anymore tho), and Borderlands that had the ability to do this. It's a feature that's cool to have but should NEVER be expected. And you must have on rose tinted glasses because the old progression system was much worse (in terms of grinding). This iteration is not even close to the amount of in game time it takes to get to Inheritor. Getting max rank in Halo Reach to unlock the the haunted helmet requires 20 million credits and you used to be capped daily. Weekly and daily challenges only gave you about 2000-3000 with the weekly being about 7000-10000 depending on the challenge. I liked the old system but let's not pretend that it didn't have some of the worse grinding in Halo history. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, because alot of people liked the grind but complaining about the grind in this version seems silly when it literally takes over a 100 *in-game* days to max out on 360

It's very clear that 343i is made up of the Bungie employees that wanted the game to be more like CoD. Very clearly. We know Bungie was split internally near the end of Halo 3, and also literally being forced to make Reach by Microsoft. So the real Bungie staff split off and left Microsoft to make Destiny. Now we're left with the "loadouts and killstreaks are the best features in gaming" employees that are taught from orientation that customers and fans are nothing but wallets to empty. Keep them playing the game or they wont get the cosmetics that are supposed to be basically free so our game doesn't die out. Despite.. It not dying out when they could get almost anything they wanted within a few weeks to begin with... Because the game was just... fun.

Generally when you port a game you dont change it, especially when its such a popular series like halo. Nobody asked for them to change the pretty much perfect customization and xp/credit system they had into this bullshit season stuff. So what they couldnt use the stuff directly from xbox if they had time to make this entire new system they had time to just remake the old one.

Uhmmm, after certain level of the season: the XP you will need to unlock the next thing will reset to the one that you need in the first time, and that happens Like 3 or 4 times, so is hella easier than the original Halo Reach.

I feel like it really isn't that hard to remake the credit system. It wasn't that complex. I'm not a Dev, but it's as simple as earning credits for each match and putting a credit value on armor pieces.

I just hoped they would let me bring a singular effect that I owned or was on my character. Hey, we saw you got the legendary edition of halo reach and as a token of our gratitude will give it to you early! Same with blue flames etc. So you could keep one thing you did work hard to get. I would still grind my armour, but just having my blue flames back would have made me feel more appreciated, especially with the lack of new content, challenges and forge.

The seasons only apply to Reach's armor customization, not the other Halos.

I liked the old system where you earned Credits from game play. Sure it took a hell of a long time to get anything but I made it all the more worth it when you got the piece of gear you were grinding for.

I just kinda wish the unlock progression was like helmet, shoulder, chest, knees, so on. Having the entire first chunk of the first season be only helmets and then the first half of the next bit only shoulders was kind of a bummer. Also I really wish you could get points for playing campaign.

I have to say I was pretty disappointed when they implemented this, when I played reach in xbox 360 I got all the cosmetics just by playing the campaign with my brother, and I would really like to do that again :D

The biggest problem I have with it is that it removes the creativity, Its a fine enough system and god bless the reduced grind but now armor is less personal and more of just level symbols, most people will use the newest armor instead of picking it out what they want from a list, The weekly and daily challenges made it more fun, the credits made it more exciting, I remember me and my friends having our spartans in our mind set and grinding credits to get what we needed, it made everything alot more lively, Reach is still fun at its core and nothing can take that away but I feel some of that community magic is lost now, not until people start maxing levels will customization be front and center. I will miss the old days where now and then you'd hear people in chat praise your look

A game that did do a re-release with existing progress, was GTA from the old gen to the next gen. But in saying that, I am SO happy I am starting fresh, it makes the game feel more rewarding, and fun to progress in.

7 months late but thank you for clarifiying this. I had a lot on halo reach 360 unlocked and achevments too. Now as I am older and a better player (kinda) I can unlock it again and maybe do better in my achevment runs. Sure others have the stuff carried forward progress wise, but I am no longer bothered by it since they havent played all the campaign and I can try and do it all myself.

Personally I'm fine with my progress resetting. It's fun getting XP and winning games and getting cool armor. My only complaint is that tiers 1-10 have no chest or shoulder armor pieces. Only helmets, a firefight voice and the Spec ops elite armor. Other than that I really dont have complaints.

@@Swartzy98 Not in the first 10 tier unlocks. The first 10 unlocks is 8 helmets, Spec Ops elite armor, and Sgt. Stackers firefight voice. You dont get a chest til like the 14th unlock.

Did anyone notice you can't put your emblem on your armor anymore? Also for some reason I can't spin the character a full 360. lots of LITTLE things that made these games even better, are gone now... But.. I think 343i is actually doing a decent job so far. the release wasn't as bad as when the MCC first came out. But There's lots of things to fix. And add.

As far as I can tell the new progression system is present so they can sell armour, effects, etc. in separate seasons in the future presuming (and now knowing) reaches success on launch. That being said, progression seems faster than on xbox, so that's a plus.

So glad you mentioned the fact that people are asking for their old stats back. I agree with you no game has done this with reason. Starting fresh is the best feeling ever first of all. The code involved with trying to retrieve that stuff for all the old original reach players is a nightmare especially since this game was co developed by 343 and bungie if i remember correctly so my guess also would be Bungie has a lot of that kind of stuff

I hope they're more grounded than halo 5's. Some halo 5 skins for armor/weapons were too crazy for me. That being said... You think they'll make alternative skins for the existing armors? Or maybe create helmet/accessory combos from the existing assets that currently don't exist. I'd wager those are the easiest forms of new content they can make.

I worked hard to get the armour I wanted back on the 360, and I prayed it carried over, you cannot imagine my disappointment realising I had to do it all again with a system that makes no sense to me. I work 12 hour shifts, it'll take me months upon months to get back to the level I was at on the 360, I actually had time to play then. I would've liked to at least been given the option to either not transfer it or transfer it over from the 360, at least that'll keep the sweats happy.

I’d expect to have all the armor just like the rest of the halos. A lot of us already did this grind and now don’t have the time to do it again years later. This system just takes too long and a lot of the small aspects or Xbox 360 reach are missing. From the end of the match character screen, to hovering over other people’s Spartans, and most importantly map voting. Also is missing and it feels abit lazy. Also what’s the point of having the armory look so great and have the armor look next gen but keep the base game looking the same.

Sorly For online players yes, offine players no its sucks (Mainly the OG players are effected by this) some people dont have a great internet connection or just dont like playing online, most wanna just chill and play some campaign or firefight (Offline or spilt screen) and Rank up that way even if it takes long, it was chill and thats what most loved about it

Season points can be used for any season in MCC. Like you said it'll make more sense to the general public once the CE season is released. Though is does sound like, at the moment, that each season is linear for unlocks. So I'm assuming 343 is looking for a way to use season points in the current progression system without starting from level 1 for each season. Now THAT would be a interesting work around haha

Well, i really "like" the new Unlocksystem because it fits the core-theme of "The Master Chief Collection"... I'd argue what TMCC makes so unique and great compared to other collection is that it interconnects every halo game which it is bundled with it. No seperatly / individually booting up games, but easily access for the matchmaking to pick your favorite games and modes. A Lot of people, especially on PC due they only have Reach for now, overlook the fact that you can level up your season-level with each Halo Game in TMCC in Matchmaking. Means if you don't like Reach MP that much and prefer halo 3, you can easily play H3 online and still level up your season to unlock stuff (for now only Reach). And that's amazing. The only thing which i would agree they could improve, is that they add functionality of choosing what you want to unlock instead of having a linear progress.

The season thing is kinda ass, I need more incentive to gain EXP. Bungie has a good system in Destiny 2 rn where you get bounties that give a shit ton of EXP for the day/week.
