This number doesn’t seem to add up. He says 53.8 inches which is 6.2 inches less than 5 feet at 60 inches. So it’s a hair less than 4 and a half feet (if the the 53.8 is actually the correct number and not the measurement that was actually misspoken)

I’m pretty sure that a sabot is a tungsten rod INSIDE the projectile that is used for extreme penetration. When the projectile impacts the target the bullet around the sabot will be left behind while the sabot keeps going through the target, this is most likely the cause of over penetration with the sniper rifle.
@sciarpecyril3 жыл бұрын
I'll just make a citation: A sabot (UK: /sæˈboʊ, ˈsæboʊ/, US: /ˈseɪboʊ/) is a supportive device used in firearm/artillery ammunitions to fit/patch around a projectile, such as a bullet/slug or a flechette-like projectile (such as a kinetic energy penetrator), and keep it aligned in the center of the barrel when fired. It allows a narrower projectile with high sectional density to be fired through a barrel of much larger bore diameter with maximal accelerative transfer of kinetic energy. After leaving the muzzle, the sabot typically separates from the projectile in flight, diverting only a very small portion of the overall kinetic energy.
@bradymenting51204 жыл бұрын
small math error: 53.8 inches is actually about 4.5 feet, 6 feet is 72 inches.
@DarkSlayer4872 жыл бұрын
I know this video is old, but I just want to point something out about the magazine and the overlay seen from the 2 to 3min mark. The mag is a double stack magazine meaning the bullets get "double stacked" in a zig zag pattern instead of being exactly on top of the one below it. This allows for greater capacity within the magazine itself. With that in mind, the physical size of the magazine is big enough to hold at least 10 rounds, possibly 12-13 instead of 4 that are in-game. Secondly, the overlay image shows the topmost bullet extremely far below the chamber. The bolt carrier group would be physically unable to chamber a round from where its at in the overlay. Even if the magazine was a single stack magazine, there appears to be enough space to place another 2 bullets within the magazine without being in the chamber.
@YukimareThePsion11 ай бұрын
Eric Nylund's novels on Halo actually note this, as in his entries to the series, this very sniper rifle is noted to have far more than just 4 rounds in a magazine. From what hints I can get off, 4 rounds were settled on in the game for game balance reasons. Else with a more realistic mag size of say... 10 rounds, a player who could just send a volley of high caliber rounds down range as fast as they can pull the trigger, either to compensate for bad aim (or lack of desire to go for headshots) or to gun down a particularly durable target. 10 rounds seem to be a more accurate representation of the Halo Sniper Rifles' mag size, as the S7 Flexfire has a 10 round mag.
@_blood_moon_proto_15007 күн бұрын
@@YukimareThePsion its also noted from bungie era writers that 4 rounds was also a compromise between capacity and weight, those rounds are bloody heavy after all

I am surprised they did not have that thing in a bullpup, make it match the rest of their rifles from the earlier games.
@AerodynamicBrick Жыл бұрын
Bullpups tend to have a squishy trigger compared to traditional style rifles. With a 2 stage trigger, you can have a great, crisp feeling trigger and less likely to pull the rifle while operating it, but it is very difficult and expensive to make a bullpup style rifle to have the same feeling behind the same assembly primarly due the ways the trigger is connected to the rest of the trigger assembly (hammer, disconnector, etc).

the only thing that bothers me about this is that it's gas operated, not recoil. like the G6 Lynx, or Barrett 50. a 6 foot 13LB rifle, thats going to have a shit ton of fouling is going to be a bitch to clean.

@lorenzgerber96553 жыл бұрын
No it is gas operated. The gas tube would be right under the barrel where the bipod kinda pops up for storage.
@chadwicktaylors75433 жыл бұрын
@@lorenzgerber9655 Except that the barrel is not connected to anything in the first three Halo games. For the games that have a link between the barrel and the object beneath it gas operation would still be difficult with the block being too far back on the barrel, there being a clear gap between the barrel and receiver until the magazine, and a large protrusion at the supposed piston around that wouldn't help. I really do mean this to be a common misconception by the fans, but one I wish would get fixed. 343 already has it in writing for the Spartan Field Manual that it is recoil operated.

Hey 00, I was wondering if you could tell people about the chainguns in halo being battery powered? It's a common misconception that the chainguns run out of ammo, but really it just runs out of battery as you disconnect from the stand. Could you mention that?
@ianchoi71425 жыл бұрын
You are correct on being battery powered, but it is in fact not the battery that runs out, but instead the ammo. Even our existing mini guns like the M134 is powered by an external power source, but ammo is more likely to be depleted first than the battery. If it really does run on a battery, then the ammo counter would display a percentage instead and it would sputter as it nears depletion. Also, a tripod does not have the ability to "charge" a chaingun, they did this throughout the game as an act of balancing.
