Man the ODST's are just awesome. My favorite sci-fi special forces for sure. They could make so many good games with ODST's. Like being in a squad of ODST's helping a spartan, maybe even Chief. The Spartans are cool, but they are like superheroes, you cant really relate with them. They are super soldiers, something none of us can understand, but ODST's are normal people. Well, bad-ass normal people. Like the marines, we need to see ODST's more in game, and give them a part in the story. Dont just use them as a set piece.

I wish there was more of a focus on the so to say more "faceless" of the ranks. Regular troopers and Marines, the game centered is playing as one of those guys trying to get things done and survive the covenant onslaught. Maybe even a game centered as playing an officer in charge of those guys trying to follow the mission and make it out alive with as many as them as possible, commanding them around into positions or giving them tasks pertaining to the mission that will keep the platoon as a whole secure but still keeping on track. Of course there has to be story arches and hints of inexperienced or set in there ways commanders screwing things up, dashes of disparity, and eventual hail Mary efforts like a warthog run. Maybe even a few missions where you have to go to objective after objective just sitting around until command figures out where you should actually be positioned, or to be more fun a generator defense type thing where you to protect assets from being destroyed or roads from being crossed. This being set in New Mombasa or Reach.

When I first heard about ODST way back when, I was really hoping for a more dark/gritty look at the human covenant war across multiple battlefields, multiple drops, etc. Maybe more squad based, not quite Rainbow Six Vegas 2 but close. I got so excited about this thought that I somehow got disappointed this completely fictional game didn't exist. Since there's 18 classes of Forerunner combat armor and the standard Forerunner troops weared Class-12 combat skins how strong do you think the Forerunner soldier was since MJOLNIR is considered Class-2 and it can take a beaten and even survive falling into the atmosphere I bet it would be stronger then any Space Marine exoskeleton would be. Imagine how strong the Flood combat forms were in order to penetrate that combat skin.

I'm thinking of a ODST Specialist that carries an armored backpack shield generator that powers wirelessly to up to a maximum of 5 ODST's shields including the wearer, so the wearer can drop it to move a bit freely and the others don't have to lug around heavy hardware. Disadvantage is that it has to be carried around and the shield's power source is divided among squad members, but as more of the squad falls the shield's power source gets better since it only needs to focus on one trooper. TLDR: The shield projectors are housed on the standard ODST BDU while the powersource is carried on the backpack that wirelessly powers the projectors.
@roundbrick4890

@@dr.catherineelizabethhalse1820 probably a lower yield version of the spartan power supply system- it would only need to support an energy shield and and the emitters, in turn, less armor plating would be needed and would cut down on costs, although only removing part of it to not fully remove it, perhaps only remove 20% or so

If you think about it, Spartans are really overengineered. The sheild is one of their most useful tech assets. The physical and reaction time augmentations are incredible. But if more regular infantry had those shields you might not even need to spend so much money on the Spartan program and armor.

Does the Flood bulid themselves their own ships and weapons? Like during the Forerunner-Flood war they must have captured millions of weapon factories and shipyards so I can imagine they using them to manufacture to bulid up their forces and make them stronger so that maybe why they were able to overwhelm the Forerunners so quickly using their manufacturing facilities against the Forerunners and they would constantly produce more weapons and ships to continue the war since they would be smart enough to understand the importance of resources during total war and how useful they would be to the Flood who wouldn't need to rest or sleep unlike the Forerunners so they would have a constant supply of weapons and ships to send on the front lines.
@Installation00
@Installation00 5 жыл бұрын
That is a very interesting point. The flood have the collective knowledge of all the beings they have infected. Why have they never considered using that knowledge to build?
@thorshammer7883
@thorshammer7883 5 жыл бұрын
@@Installation00 That maybe the reason why they were so close to winning the Forerunner-Flood war though the Forerunners fought bravely using every tactic and strategy they could make even destroying star systems it still wasn't enough. And if the Flood have infected entire dyson spheres and large megastructures imagine what they could do with such facilities that have weapon, armor, and ship manufacturing equipment it would be like a gold mine for winning wars. And the Forerunners had destroyed entire star systems trying to weaken the Flood numbers and still wasn't enough. So it's clear that during the 300 year long war that the Flood were able to sustain their numbers somehow. Likely through manufacturing weapons and ships constantly. And the Forerunners had over 3 million systems so they definitely have tons of supplies.
@Kaiber_Phoenix
@Kaiber_Phoenix 5 жыл бұрын
I think for the most part they infected the crews of the ships and vehicles obtain the knowledge to operate them and then proceed to infect more probably in a similar fashion to why they do in halo wars 2 once they infected the personal operating the vehicle they end up encasing them with bio matter to keep the body in place to operate it and to provide further protection and possibly as another means to transport the bio matter to further help the spread. Then again in every halo we've seen this far with the exception of combat evolved there was a grave mind and the flood operated the vehicles as normal users would were as halo wars 2 had a proto grave mind which probably wanted to increase the survival odds of its combat forms in vehicles as the knowledge may have been usable whilst the operator whas the one in control either way that would be a cool video

Semi-powered armor is doable today, it wouldn't really add much in the way of actual strength to the wearer, however several hydraulic/pneumatic exo-skeleton prototypes function on the concept of conserving as much kinetic energy as possible, redirecting it back into the frame, IE, it compresses as a soldier bends their knee, and then springs back up as they push off, attempting to gain that energy not from the soldier exerting extra force, but from the weight of the soldier coming down in the first place. Pairing that with a load bearing frame, energy expenditure from a soldier can be cut by huge margins. if even a twenty percent reduction in energy use can be gained from the frame, two things can be done, either increasing armor coverage/carrying more ammo and supplies, or soldiers can march longer, run farther, fight longer before tiring out. this is on top of avoiding many of the stress injuries soldiers develop from lugging a hundred pounds of gear around as the frame is what is actually supporting most of the weight. What I really want to see though is how the fucking bolt carrier group works in a halo AR, and the magazine of an MA5B. 60 rounds of 7.62x51 in what looks like an FAL magazine(20 rounds) with less than three inches of space for the bolt, recoil buffer, and ejector? BULLSHIT! ITS SPACE MAGIC! There isn't even a reasonable way to go with an AEK/AK107 balancing system.

While civilian applications for such technologies do exist, their obvious military advantages quickly saw them harnessed for the purposes of warfare. Basic performance-enhancing technologies have been commonplace among human militaries for centuries." So the question is exactly what kind of augmentations do the Marines and ODST's have in halo . Since the lore doesn't exactly state it. Basically what would it take for a human to be capable of fighting the Covenant without being instantly killed ? If humanity has been doing this since at lest the 22nd century their troops would obviously be augmented slightly.

Love coming back to this video, showing the odst armor more complex than people realized. Shame odst didn't have their own semi-power armor. I doubt they would get full power armor but imagine if odsts had something somewhat similar to the spi-armor but more gear towards odsts and doesnt cost as much as mjonir armor. The one thing i love about this armor as it sounds realistic and something out current technology probably could make but most likely be tad expensive. But from what i know alot of the mechanics and materials of the odst suit do sound very realistic and a possibility what troops could wear at some point.

Absolutely love this video and channel, helljumpers are on par with Spartans as personal favorites of the halo series/sci-fi soldiers as a whole. Despite Spartans supposedly being superior in pretty much every way, your video makes me appreciate the ODSTs as the very best humanity has to offer en masse without alterations. Very well done sir.

I heard SPI armor could survive a few more blasts from plasma before being destroyed more than regular marine armor, so why didn't the UNSC make any for the marines since unaugmented soldiers could wear it and probably has a more survivable chance against covenant foot soldiers plasma rounds? Also it was mass produced by the UNSC.
@Installation00
@Installation00 5 жыл бұрын
Cost. On a scale of amplitude. Spartan-IIIs, though cheap compared to the Spartan-IIs, were still very, very expensive to train, augment, equip and field. SPI armor was, again, developed on a budget, but a budget much higher than would otherwise be allocated to a normal soldier. So while it does make sense, it will have been cost prohibitive.
@barrybend7189

The infinity contingent should at least use SPI armor as its can manufacture Spartan grade armors.

These videos add an extra layer the the games that make them a little bit more fun, understanding the equipment you're using gives it a little bit more immersion that you can think about when you're making your way through New Mombassa. I'll always wish for a "playable novel" sort of game, just a regular mission during the HC war. The novels have very different stories from the games.
