"You've been replaced, I'm face to face with someone new" I always thought she referring to another partner, but in reality she is referring to herself. To the person she has become after the break up, hopefully someone stronger. Halsey really is such an inspiration and her explaining the songs aren't about her lover, has completely changed my perspective on this album. I can't wait to listen to it again and re-evaluate it.

“woman of color” doesn’t just mean ur physical appearance, it refers to your ethnicity as well. she’s half black regardless of whether or not she’s white passing. she knows she’s white passing and acknowledges the privileges that come with it all the time, and she uses her privilege for good. but disregarding her race completely just because she’s white passing is ignorant in itself. she has the right to connect and embrace the other part of her race as well.
@breezy88546 жыл бұрын
I agree with you on some parts. but you need to know some history. white ppl with african blood were called 'free people of color' and they weren't enslaved. the other ppl were called colored ppl. but later on ppl found it offensive and changed it to' ppl of color'. it was purely based on one's color. but after the immigration of other races to us. they were also called the ppl of color regardless of their skin color for the representation of minorities. So countries like canada use 'Visible minority'. Also white ppl with african blood is more privileged than white ppl themselves. if you ever been to a college u'll understand it. halsey is only 25 % black. i'm 25 % european, 25 % african and 47 % indian what would you call me ? she can say she's biracial or. but never black or person of color.

Bre Ezy, no one gets to rob someone of their identity, just because the percentage isn’t perceived to be high enough to ‘count’.
@breezy88546 жыл бұрын
No one is trying to rob anyone's identity my dear. the only issue here is she identified herself as POC which she is not. but she definitely has African roots in her DNA. She is just a white kid whose parents happen to be of white and half white races. also racists didn't and don't run a background check and DNA test on someone right before they start being racists. it was purely about the way they looked. If white is black i don't really understand the point of the term 'color' in 'Person of color'.
@SFrancoish5 жыл бұрын
She was born in America and this country see any one who is born of mixed race as the minority mix. Jim Crow laws had the one drop law... This country hasn't evolved too much with the racial identity.

It's interesting when an artist talks about how the album was created, as it gives us the chance to follow your line of reasoning and thus understand the way the songs were created and how they will affect you. Hopeless Fountain Kingdom is an incredible album and the more I know the stories behind their songs, the more Halsey becomes incredible to me.

I asked my parents if I could go to one of her concerts, they said no “we don’t like the things that she talks about” she is describing what she went through. Yes, she talks about sex on the album but she is saying what she did to please them so that they would be happy. So that they wouldn’t criticize her. This is why Halsey is important, she describes what it is like to go through things and what she did to get out of them.

This is the best Halsey interview I’ve seen so far. She is so much deeper than the public portrays her as. I’ve been a huge Gaga fan since the beginning, and I think she always had this issue as well. Until recently, she’s been taken seriously as an artist/activist. I feel it’ll be the same for Ashley. Someday the world will appreciate her and she will get the recognition she deserves as a person/activist and not just as an artist that is often misunderstood.

It's amazing how you can truly hear the inspiration behind her music like Eyes Closed being inspired by Abel (the Weeknd) and then her other songs being inspired by her own emotions and experiences like Bad at Love. I don't get caught up in what others say negatively about her because if I can find what matters to me in her music then that's all that matters overall. Others can say all the shit they want but they can't block the emotions Halsey puts out in her music and also the emotions I feel while experiencing her music. Much love and respect to Halsey ❤

"this massive pop song...and for me there's no STORY. It's kind of like when you're watching a movie and the director doesn't give you enough expository background on the characters before something big happens in the movie. And then, all of sudden, there's like a big dramatic plot point and you're like 'I don't care about this because I don't KNOW these people"" - Halsey. YEEESSS. I have movies and songs and books like that. Art has to make you care about the characters - feel like you know and understand them and empathise with them. Halsey is smart and beautiful.
