Halsey calling out the pharmaceutical industry for wanting to keep people sick, I appreciate that 💜
@meidson124 ай бұрын
That's a really dangerous statement to make. She has other options, people don't. Some people really need to keep taking their meds. I've seen many cases where people buy these conspiracy theories and die because of it. Look, I know the statament isn't exactly wrong. But it's also not that accurate, either. Big Pharma only cares about profits, that's a fact. However, they still need to give some result. So they choose the middle path = medications that help by 20 - 40% they also don't know many things work, sadly. neuroscientists now revealed that serotonin doesn't help to treat depression, it just happens that SSRIs work. But they don't know how. They also revealed that depression is not, in fact, a chemical imbalance. Psychiatrists have been saying that they overestimated the how much SSRIs helped. It's something like 20-40%. Because of this, a lot of them now say it's only worth taking it if you have moderate-severe depression, because in mild depression the numbers are like 20% of improvement, which doesn't make much of a difference since the depression is mild. About chronic illnesses, they also don't know A LOT. And because they are relatively rare, Pharmas won't fund studies, because it wouldn't be profitable if it's rare. That's why they put so much money in depression studies, because everyone is depressed. That's why they promoted the sh*t out of SSRIs. The science showed that it helped with depression, however, this is all new. So now, new studies are coming out showing that it wasn't the salvation they thought it was... Honestly, I'm growing more and more skeptical of doctors and the medicine institutions. But what choice do I have? If I stop taking some of the meds I take, I could die. That's why I find these statements dangerous. You have to be cautious with what you say when you're a celebrity.

I had surgery one time and they gave me ketamine as a way of sedation. I kid you not, the day after while I was recovering I began googling "does surgery make your depression go away." I had no idea prior to this that ketamine was beneficial to mental health until later and realized that's what it was. I can't describe how it felt other than my brain felt.. "clean?" Like somebody came in there and gave it a good scrub lol. It was a huge difference that I noticed without having any knowledge of the benefits of ketamine.

If I remember correctly that is actually how they discovered this.

More doctors don't recommend it because most insurance doesn't cover it yet. My son, myself, and my mother would greatly benefit from this therapy, but without our insurance to cover it, we can't afford it. I'm so grateful Halsey is doing better, she makes the world a more beautiful place! Such an informative video, thank you for sharing your story Ashley, and thanks to the doctors as well! I started looking into it and unfortunately it can also be really difficult to access if you don’t have someone who could drive you a few hours and back to a clinic or hospital that does it

@ayla1849 Good point. I had no idea we had it available in my city until I watched this. Hopefully, it will become more widely available and covered by more insurance companies soon!

Where I work, they consider Spravato kind of as an alternative and a lot of insurances cover it (maybe not always great coverage). There’s also assistance programs to cover the copays. Maybe something to look into! It is a nasal spray instead of an IV
@nolaheart4 ай бұрын
Yes, spravato is covered usually and isn't as expensive bc you don't need to have an iv. Medicare pays.

Halsey is an extremely beautiful/intelligent woman. She’s glowing!! The thing’s she discussed in part 1&2 were very helpful for many women (including myself). The medical industry is full of gaslighters. Woman concerns are often ignored. I have my own experiences with this. I hope the best for all the ladies out there and the future of women’s health!

I have been extremely sick for years in and out of hospitals and doctors offices (many of which have not been kind where I live). I didn’t even want to be me or around me, and I did not want to debilitate anyone else. Yet my husband just walked out to the porch after working 7 hours then moving furniture out of our house for 5, when I could not help at all due to my current state, and told me how proud he was that I did what I did today. He loves me more than anything, no matter how sick I am. I currently have Muscle Tension Dysphonia (I cannot speak as the muscles around my vocal chords are paralyzed), and he takes any second he has to come hug me and love me and talk to me via writing. He never complains or gets mad at me. I write this to tell you that there is a person out there for you, even if you are sick, as long as you still put the effort in to love and do your best.

Ketamine is also a HUGE game changer for chronic pain specifically neurological chronic pain. I have several videos on my profile of my journey with crps (complex regional pain syndrome) and inpatient ketamine infusions were the catalyst to helping me get out of a wheelchair and begin to relearn how to walk. I have lived with crps since 2011 (mine began after a running injury, it then spread into my entire left leg and into my left arm) and ketamine infusions are why I am still here. The only thing is that they NEEEEEED to be affordable, inpatient is sometimes covered by insurance but outpatient isn’t and it’s just not feasible for people to pay what hey cost. I have to get them done every few months to control my pain, they are my lifeline and I don’t know what I would do without them. Lots of love to Halsey and everyone who suffers with chronic illnesses 💗💗💗

I just wish more doctors would be like Doctor A, most of the ones I've encountered are dissmissive, gaslighting, don't listen and don't care about my concerns. I really think having a good doctor is a luxury nowadays and it's really sad. I hope it changes some day, and proper healthcare can become something you dont have to be upper class to have.

ketamine infusions & pills are the only thing that helps keeps me functional. i have crps which is the most painful condition known to man, worse than unmediated child birth and amputation. it’s so extremely hard to find and doctors now are stopping prescribing it for anything that’s not depression bc the DEA is cracking down. it really is a game changer and i desperately hope the restricting of it stops soon 😭 i used to have severe depression and i’m grateful people are finding something that helps, but now it’s only really prescribed for that and the rest of us suffer even more

I’m a massive Halsey fan and since her album just came out where she’s been talking about her diagnosis I stumbled upon this two part interview. which was fantastic and has just shown me just how wonderful a person Halsey is. I love hearing her talk about her experiences and I’m grateful that she has and that she’s doing better. On a similar but different note, I’m a sex education student. One of the things that my program is really focused on is talking about women’s experiences within reproductive health and lack there of, + lack of research with women’s bodies in the medical field. I’m very happy to have found the podcast. I’m going to be talking to everybody about it. Thank you so much for making this program!!

Ketamine changed my life. I don’t respond to most SSRIs. So I’ve never been to a clinic but my psychiatrist prescribes the ketamine nasal spray and I use that. Downside is that it’s not covered by insurance (you have to go to a compound pharmacy) so it isn’t cheap, but it works for me and luckily I’m able to afford it

Hello, I'm Adriana, and I'm 28 years old! Ashley has always been a reference for me. I was diagnosed with endometriosis at 18 and had my first laparoscopy at 19. Knowing that I wasn't alone and that there was someone in this world who suffers from this disease (and struggles with it) brought some relief to my heart. For ten years, my endometriosis was silent, calm, and didn't make any noise until exactly 64 days ago. I had an emergency operation in which they removed a fallopian tube, my appendix, and the lesions. Forty-two days later, I had a second operation where they removed an endometrioma, my other fallopian tube, and discovered that I have a fibroid in my uterus. My organs are already adhered, and it has been quite difficult. At 28, I stopped my professional career, my social relationships, and my biggest dream of becoming a mom right now feels impossible and I am indeed going through depression and PTSD. Thank you for talking about this topic and making it public because there are millions of us going through this. It breaks my heart to live like this, and today I feel stuck in this loop of endometriosis, pain, fatigue, frustration, loneliness, and a thousand other emotions. Girls you're not alone be strong and don't be afraid.

For me, insurance plays a big role in why I couldn't years ago. They wanted me to try so many different medications before turning to Ketamine or TMS. They consider those treatments for people who are resistant to ssris and other medications to help anxiety and depression. I am curious if TMS or Ketamine therapy is best for long term depression? I am 39 and have had it since I was 10. This episode made me so hopeful.
