I know Halsey has said how immensely fuckin' excited they were to work with him and Atticus - and apparently he was very respectful; he said something like "I won't push you to go full industrial if that's not what you want, it's *your* album", and Halsey's response was basically, "ARE YOU KIDDING??? I'm ready for grunge and electronics!"

The video isn't about actually being a god. Its about embracing her pregnancy to show how strong she is. If you didn't know Halsey suffered a miscarriage and has a disorder which can cause her to never have children. It could also be about her bipolar disorder,as she says she's a god and then calls herself a problem. She’s making a commentary on how society makes deities out of celebrity. We worship fame money etc. but the people put on such a pedestal are left feeling incredibly lonely despite all of the worship they receive. It can strip you of your sense of humanity, thus the title “I am not a woman I’m a god.” It’s beautiful and I think a lot of people can relate to being viewed as a concept rather than a three dimensional person.

The times we cried ourselves to sleep, holding our growing pregnant belly and feeling deserted and unworthy of a man’s love….. And then finally after the raw, delicious pain of delivering a life unto this earth…It’s in that moment, that you learn how fucking strong you are. How powerful… A WOMAN, A MOTHER. CREATOR OF LIFE. It’s then that we finally understand how much power WE possess. God chose US to be the vessels of life. MOTHER + HER CHILD = GOD

Absolutely. This song is simply art. You have a woman who at that time was pregnant and processed that experience. Then you have Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross who creates a sound that you never heard with the glitches and more. For me a new sound which is in this way truly perfect. And if you like this, you would also like the Ghost series from Nine Inch Nails where Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross working out a projekt together. It´s really good.
