What I really loved was that there were two to four poly and pan-sexual scenes with him. I'm kinda disappointed that we didn't get his opinion on that aspect that it's canonical that Halsin is pansexual and was a sex slave.

I barely remember voices of the actors in the movies I go to see. But when I spend hours playing a game I never forget them. Ever. And I always recognize them anywhere again. It's like developing a weird relationship with them. Makes you happy hearing them again.

Halsin is absolutely my favorite character in BG3 and Dave did a really amazing job voicing him. @@SereglothIV How? When? The only time mf hit on me was once in Act 3 and I just said 'let's stay friends' and he was like 'cool no problem' Like, Gale I can get, but Halsin never gave me problems.

@@th0rne_999 Well, that's the impression he left on me. Maybe it's because Gale at least had more other stuff to talk about. Maybe it's because Halsin is a buffed up giant who felt more intimidating. But each time Halsin didn't talk about being passionate towards me, he talked about being passionte in a bear form. Also, it was in the release version of the game before any patches, which was later confirmed to have a bug with companions being too horny for no reason.

I am so glad the people who played the game in early access demanded more Halsin. I LOVE having him in my party. That line he says when the dark urge admits to their urges melts my heart every time. Dave’s voice is perfect.

When the game first came out, I wasn’t super into Halsin, I was Astarion all the way and barely paid attention to much else. But now that I've started exploring the game more and learning more about Halsin and experiencing more of his character, I've completely fallen in love. Dave did amazing, and he's such a funny guy. It's true, it's very clear how much fun he had, and it 100% adds to my fun. ❤

Thanks for doing these interviews. VAs usually don't get the attention they deserve. Halsin did have a dark secret in data files and I have to wonder if that's the difficult scene Dave was talking about. It was cut, so I won't say what it was (although I am sure you can find it on the internet), but I wish they had left it in. It would have really rounded out the character.

@@mulqueen2023 In early EA, Halsin had been the one who killed Isobel, in self defense, with the glaive Sorrow. It was removed early and it's certainly not canon. We're not told exactly what happened to her in the release version, but I think agents of Shar killed Isobel in a scheme to recruit Ketheric. (There's a druid notebook saying Ketheric did not fall, he was pushed.)

Oh wow interesting, it makes more thematic sense for him not to have killed her (I can't quickly see how much sense that would make now they made his conversion to Shar was due to her death). It's interesting how much seems to have changed between EA and release unsurprisingly I suppose given there were years in between. I really struggle to use Halsin in game (I used him as a healer) but like his character.

It was most likely a scene that ended up being cut content after he became a companion option - it was Halsin talking about the shadow curse and his involvement in the conflict against Ketheric, so in the scene Halsin felt it was completely his fault for what he did. Something that he regretted and it traumatised him.

Tbh...the bear scene during the Panel from Hell 100% convinced me to play the game 😇 Edit: I just finished watching the interview and hearing Dave tell about how he got into voice acting struck a chord with me. I strongly feel the need for a creative outlet but up until now, I've always been too scared to start anything new for fear of failing and I started to think that it was too late for me anyway (I'll turn 34 soon). Hearing this makes me hope that many things are still possible

Halsin kept trying to charm me away from Gale or Wyll in every damn playthrough (since he comes into the party a bit later than the others) until this time around he's finally succeeded. what a great character! the only thing I wish would be that he could have had more lines/content, but I understand he was a last minute addition because of the positive reaction to him! well done!
