Halston Z-14 Review: What makes it different when compared to the other Halston flagship fragrance?

In 1974, Halston came out with two fragrances at once, 1-12 and Z-14. Both fill a niche. Where does Z-14 fit?

I just happen to have a bottle of Z-14 splash that I purchased in 1983. It's about 90% full, and still smells great. When I first put it on, the first thing that comes to mind is old school elegance. 😊

Hey mate, I'm a new subscriber and have really been enjoying your vids this past week - particularly your take on fragrances. I was about to get Halston-12 (yes, not z-14) this week but in the end opted for Quorum, which is another classic 80s fragrance. It's sensational, in my opinion - not sure if you've covered it yet. It has a bad rap, I think because people don't know how to wear fragrances with a broad raft of notes anymore. You mentioned in your Joop video that placement and a light hand deliver better results. In Quorum's case, absolutely. Vintage fragrances need some blue sky in order to allow the notes to sparkle a little. I'd love to see a bunch more of your fragrance takes, you have a uniquely practical perspective by KZbin standards.

Of course I am familiar with the name Halston, because he was a famous fashion designer. His name is mentioned in the song, Big Shot, by Billy Joel and it's mentioned in the movie, The Devil Wears Prada. I bought some Halston cologne for my husband a few years ago. I love it. I think it's a underrated fragrance (in this day and age), though many people still love and purchase it. It smells wonderful and it has long staying power. My husband usually gets up earlier than me, and I always knew when he just left our house because I could smell this cologne after he walked out the door. And the scent would linger for a while afterwards. I think this is the same one you're talking about. but I'm not sure.

To me, the drydowns of Halston Z-14 and Eau Sauvage EDT (the original) smell related, somehow.
