Good job Jovita! Lovely Halwa Curry. By the way, is Halwa called Halwa in Konkani too?
@HomefoodrecipesJovitaNoronha3 жыл бұрын

I m a thru manglorean n know my cuisine n u have made it perfectly as v mangalorean make it home. Except v don't add methi. But all other ing, n preparation is on spot, also the way the fish to b handle is how I do, no touching the fish once inside gravy for cooking. U have hit the recipe on spot. Keep it up.

Why dont you use the spoon?
@charuduttacharya89553 жыл бұрын
Jennita, traditionally, be it the Bunts, Mogaveeras, GSBs, Manngy Cathoilics....ALL aadd methi. Any particular reason why you don't? Am plain curious.

@@charuduttacharya8955 true but my mother in law, my grandmother, my mother n aunts all from native and good at their homely cuisine have never used. So I have too never used it for my fish curries. maybe it gvs the curry a bit different taste. Somewhat astringent taste I would say. By the way I have eaten this curry with methi in the masala at my close friend who was a shetty at their home. Hence I know this curry is bit different only in methi seeds addition. Also as u have asked to add to your knowledge I would like to share some more info, that as per fish the curries also differ in their masala ingredients proportion. This I learnt from my mom. The sweet fish like promfret, rawas, silver fish, mandali will have lighter masala and prawns, crabs, halwa, bangda will have a stronger masala. While more garlic will be added while grinding masala for baby shark, ray fish. I love my curries and accordingly I have cultivated n kept my 52 yrs of learning experience n still learn as I m passionate about cooking and keep sharing my love for cooking with others. Thanks for asking as I love to share my experience with others. Happy learning and cooking.

@@MustafaKhan-ez8xz sorry for replying late. I just saw your message. So the answer is because fish is delicate and it can break as v use spoon so no disturbing it. For prawns or crabs u can use spoon. But fishes it helps to use this technique. That's the way our mother n grand mother did...so follow the elders.😊

Hi , nice recipe. How About putting kokum later instead of tamarind?
@HomefoodrecipesJovitaNoronha3 жыл бұрын
Thank you👍.You can do that but it may take time to blend with spices so better use soaked kokum water as per sourness required while grinding masala. If you using kokum along with small amount of tamarind then you can add later.

I dont appreciate receipes without the list of ingredients. The video is too fast to keep our ingredients ready.
