I'm considering this antenna as a poor man's way to cover most of HF very inexpensively. I read your review on the MFJ site which brought me here. Thank you for taking the time to make this video!

Nice, I just got the MFJ-1982HP for my first home QTH setup. Now I really want to get a mobile HF and that gigaparts mast. I scoped out your QRZ page after noticing your 3ID hat and saw you were in Schweinfurt in the late 80s. That was my first duty station with 1-26 INF, 1ID from 2005-2008.

Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. I was on Conn Barracks. I was there from 1987-1990. Do you know what year 1st ID took over, and 3rd ID went to Ft. Stewart, GA?
@m1k0h6 ай бұрын
@@WJ6FRadio I was over at Ledward, but stayed at Conn with everybody else that was PCS-ing after we got back from Iraq. I'm not really sure when 1st ID took over. I think it may have been during the late 90's when we were sending guys to Kosovo and Bosnia. Some of the older SSGs in my unit had gone to Iraq a year before me, and had gone to Kosovo before that in I want to say 1999.

Very cool I needed a pole like that, Just got an Ni4L end fed for my FT-818 as a portable antenna, but i like this MFJ, Nice you were even getting some decent contacts on 10 meters

Thank you for this xlnt demo. I just ordered the MFJ for my 12m Spiderbeam. I noticed one ham, David Casler I think, folded back maybe 2' to move the bands up into more usable freqs. 10m to Nebraska... nice job.

Hey Craig, popping in from the YT challenge group to say hey. I really think this is a neat vertical. While very different subjects, you might find the work of Roger Wakefield interesting, he has used YT to support his plumbing business and does a lot of talking about unique niches now.

Nice video! I’ve been considering the same MFJ antenna for POTA or even home use. How did you hold up the mast? How did you guy it, etc? Thanks for the post! And how about a 10m contact!

Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. I used a guying kit i have for my Buddipole. It uses a velcro strap with three cords on winders. Is the wire length the only difference between mfj1982 and mfj 1984 is there difference in toroids or turns ratio.
@kg5pte3 жыл бұрын
I got the MFJ 1982 and have High SWR on 80m 3.800 mhz to 4.0 mhz, and high on 10 meters 28.30 to 29.70 but everything in between that is below 2.9 swr, with 12 meters through 20 meters being my best. I am using a nano vna to do frequency sweeps. I ran grounds counterpoise etc. As far as 80 meters goes I am ok to talk between 3.6 and 3.7 but that is in the extra band plan and I am only a general class.

I’ll make sure and credit your video and channel in the description section of my video.
