A quick look at the super easy to deploy end fed half wave for 10 and 15 metres. Less than 6m long and therefore a great portable option. No radials needed. Connect with my channel by subscribing and commenting.

I made a 49:1 for 10/11m using the same idea, but without the 15m trap, I got near 1:101 SWR on it, and I ran 250w into on 27Mhz at 1:1.2. It worked fine, but having left it erected outside for 2 months now, it's displaying almost 4:1 SWR. Either the wire has broken down (unlikely) or the 49:1 isn't 49:1'ing anymore. I still have to drop it down and check it, but it's been raining on and off here for over a week and I'm just not going to drop a10m pole in the rain....decent antenna when it's working correctly, I made FT8 contacts on at 20w on 10m to the USA, Nicaragua, Japan and 3 or four more DXCC listed countries in less than 2 days. And my QTH isn't anything special.

Hi Tim , m currently building a fan dipole with 2 reflectors for 10m and 20m in a horizontal plane is the relector above or below the fan dipole

Where did you buy the traps from, out of interest? Asking as also time poor, but have been wanting to try a 20/17/15m version of this for some time.

Sadly the guy who made them isn’t anymore

Ah I get the Idea Tim but I am resisting pressure to get my single vertical down so sticking another up would be like a red rag to bulls ! Horizontal wire dipoles with trapped ends (and maybe a right angle at the middle connector ) is my next counter offensive 🙂.

Being an EFHW, the feedpoint is of course high voltage (high impedance), so a bit of separation from 'anything' (like the earth, even in that orientation) would be a good thing. Also, if you don't have a counterpoise, then your feedline will be the counterpoise and thus tend to have currents on the outside. (Edit: a mounting point conductive ground stake is fine! High Z low currents as we all know.) But otherwise a very good design concept.

Never experienced any issues with stray rf running 100w.

Excellent mate. Next couple of weeks I need to get on making these traps myself.

Nice work Tim. This'll be a great little antenna for daytime portable use. Looking forward to seeing how it performs in combat. 👍👍
