Excellent work mate, and as you indicated, a "go-box" is often not meant to be portable but transportable, and also secures the equipment in a "safe box".

Thanks Steve for your great comments and I appreciate your time leaving comments. Although I agree 100% with your thoughts about 'Go Box', there are people who have different definition in their mind. Mostly those who frequently go out for portable operation, and I understood their thoughts. That's one reason I started to call mine as a Transportable ham shack. Thanks again Steve for your nice comments and 73

This is a really nice looking setup, great job! It's too bad more ham gear isn't standard rack mount sizes. 73

Thanks Chris for your friendly comments. Yes it would be nice if there were more ham gears and accessories that's made for standard rack case Thanks again and 73

I have watched a few HamBox set ups recently, Memorial Day 2023 on Ham Radio 2.0, plus some Canadians doing g the same boxes all great DIY Kits. I thought your kit was fine, but for transport you leave the LCD monitor on top, was the only thing I could moan about,hope it's packed safe when on the road. I got me a backpack 🙂 73's from Nw Uk 👋

You're absolutely right. Leaving monitor on top of the case is not good, and I will have to come up with a brilliant idea to make it hidden inside the case for transportation. I will upload a video, when I find a way to integrate in the box. Thanks for your comment 73

What did you use as ''variable speed cooling fan''? It has no noticeable RFI? 73!
@va3be_radio Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching my video I used PWM controller for fan speed control. I had 2 different PWM controllers and one made very bad RFI on transmit audio, but another one created zero RFI. I bought it from a local hamfest long ago. No brand name or model number marked on it. 73

What kind of mic/preamp are you using? 73
@va3be_radio Жыл бұрын
Hi there Thanks for watching my video. I'm using Sennheiser XS1 dynamic mic and homebrewed/modified mic preamp. I have a video uploaded on my channel about the preamp. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5_Up2SddrOia6s It's not a preamp built from scratch, but used a board out from a preamp bought from Amazon. It has a switch to turn phantom power on for condenser mic, which I don't use. Thanks

How heavy? Mine came in at 72 lbs
@va3be_radio Жыл бұрын
Hey John It's really nice to see your message on KZbin and thanks for watching my video. Weight became meaningless for me since my version 1 was already over target weight and added more stuff on top of that. BUT I had to check, because it was YOU asking me Hi Hi Mine weighs 63 lb without cover, 67.6 lb with both front and rear cover. It's TOO heavy to call GO BOX, so I named video title like you see 'HAM RADIO GO BOX? NO IT'S NOT' There are thousands of ways to enjoy this fantastic hobby, right? Have a great long weekend 73

Seems like it does the same thing as a transceiver and a laptop 🤔
@va3be_radio Жыл бұрын
It does the same David, but somehow I ended up like this. I may have to attach a small engine, wheels, ABS and etc to make it different in the future Hi Hi 73
