Ham Radio Satellite Tevel 3, Contact with W3ZM at Dayton Ham Vention and WD9EWK on DSTAR!!

Join me for a great pass of Tevel 3. Today I made contact with W3ZM the RADIO AMATEUR SATELLITE CORP, at the Dayton Ham Vention! He was giving a satellite demonstration to the ARRL Youth Group. I also made a DStar Contact with Patrick WD9EWK!

4° and still making contacts on the very small Tevel-3 satellite. Simply amazing! Those Wimo-Xquad antennas really made a difference for you. The 9700 and S.A.T. controller plays a big part as well. Thank you Rob for another contact and video. I always look forward to watching them.

The magic of the CSN Technologies S.A.T Controller allows me to kick back and enjoy the pass without any worries. I am glad I designed the system around that one key element. I recorded todays back to back Tevel 7&5 passes and it was a good one. I will get that video up in a couple days. 73!

Good morning just got through watching your video and it is excellent. Every time you put out a video I always learn something new. Thank you Steve I appreciate the encouragement! I had given up towards the end of last year, but because of guys like you I got back into making the videos. I am glad you got some new knowledge, that's what I want the channel to be about, it's not a popularity contest for me. I actually learned about the DSTAR from WD9EWK (Patrick). Hello Mike. Yeah I have been at it for a while. There's quite a few guys making satellite videos of all different types. Everyone has a style that fits their personality it seems. The KZbin viewer has a pretty good choice of things to watch it seems. Satellite is still a nice niche though; it is not overrun with the same old same old.....yet. 73!

@@W0CYC-HamRadioEndeavors Funny you say that. Josh HRCC told me to be different and I love Satelittes so that is what I started. What gave me the idea was my Elmer ND1C and Gregg K6EGG who was doing DMR and DStar live and he also helped me get started. I am grateful to both men for kicking my butt and encounrging me. For almost a year I was the only one except for W5ITR who did a lot of portable Satelitte work. But the more the merrier I say. Thanks for doing a good job too. I checked my log and we have had about 19 contacts over the years. Enjoy and I'll see you on the birds.

Absolutely! I did a LOT OF POTA Videos and gave that up. My Satellite Rove videos do fairly well and are a lot of fun. I have seen a few and made a few contacts with W5ITR he has good stuff. Yeah, we have quite a few contacts in the log and a lot more to come I imagine. 73 for now! Catch you on a pass.

Nice. You don't need to doppler track the uplink..only the downlink on FM.

You do but it is not nearly as much. The Doppler effect is worse the higher you go in frequency. For an FM satellite with VHF uplink, the change is only about 2.5 Khz below and 2.5 Khz above center frequency at maximum. Thanks for watching! 73, Rob

That would help in this case for sure. There was a slight delay in the activation of the voice recorder because of that so a syllable or so was being missed at the startup. I get why it’s closed but the option would be definitely appreciated. Good to see you Tim! I haven’t heard you in quite some time.
