Right now the only reason is that it is really hard to learn, like so hard guys, and goku is a genius. But so was super saiyan and then they started having toddlers go super saiyan. Also as far as potential goes, Krillin had all his potential brought out years in the past. His current potential is surely higher than his current state. You don't stay stagnant, you keep learning and growing.

I like 18's voice for Kai. I feel it fits her better for this time-frame. However, for recent projects like BOG, Resurrection F, and Super, I enjoy her other actor as I feel it gives a sense that she has indeed aged. I think that's why they made this choice.

I'd like to think that despite how much better the TFS Abridged did 18 that she ended up kissing Krillin here because she admired his guts and determination. The man literally watched his entire team get folded like an omelet one after the other in little more than a punch or two and here is he standing up to all 3 of them. Sure he's trembling like it's -30F outside and the sweat on his forehead is freezing instantly, but he still stood up to literally instant death in an attempt to get them to stop. My head canon is that 18 was absolutely dumbfounded by this sudden burst of courage and decided for herself that she'd see where this went. Then the whole breaking the remote thing and then using the wish on her post-Cell fight is what really won her over in the end. Like: "This little bald guy who I don't even know stood up to us and technically saved/spared me twice.....yeah, I'ma tap that."

But he couldn’t count on them wanting to keep Goku alive though. He literally saw them kill Dr. Gero, and if Krillin hadn’t given the others the beans, the rest of the dragon team would have died because the androids, too. He had no reason to believe that they would have let Goku live, even to fight them repeatedly. Plus, what’s to say that the androids would have been patient enough to just wait around for Goku to recover. What would have stopped them from going on a rampage out of sheer boredom?

I feel like this was the start of 17 & 18’s change into better people than their future counterparts. In Trunks’ timeline, Krillin knew nothing about the Androids other than them causing destruction and mayhem. Therefore he had no other choice but to fight them because they were monsters. In this timeline, Krillin had a better understanding of the Androids thanks to Trunks and at least was able to try to reason with them when they weren’t fighting. 17 & 18 both looked somewhat humbled by Krillin trying to reason with them before 16 brought up his purpose. He treated them like people instead of machines. Of course Cell comes along and reminds how small they can be. But the fact Krillin did this and they appear to consider his words makes me believe this was beginning of both of them going on the right path.

I think in that moment the reason both 17 and 18 didn't Kill Krillan and decided to talk to him, was because not only was he being brave by standing up to them (something they have seen before and met with similar interest) but he was also treating them like people and even went so-far as to ask them nicely to stop. It's something they never experienced with anyone else, not even the Doctor. So it must have been a little refreshing, and to 18 it was sweet.
