I like how discovering her feelings for Kirillin basically allowed her to turn her life around from assassin to loving parent/mother without compromising her deadly badass lethality, especially in protection of her family. Her going up against very powerful beings on occasion and winning only adds to it all.

they werent really evil in the normal timeline, they just kinda had a job to do and were bored. possibly tramatised from thier making. i dont think they actually killed anyone(not that thats something special, you shouldnt kill people anyways). they screwed with vegeta and the z fighters a bit and 17's fight with piccolo was actually a pretty good fight. and 18 just wanted to be a normal girl seemingly.

​@@theshermantanker7043 As I understand it, Gero had a choice between 2 things in finalizing 17 and 18: 1. Reprogram them to hate humans, turning them into murderous and destructive sociopaths. 2. Redesign them to make them stronger. Future Gero choose the first option because Goku had died and he thought this would make them more controllable… somehow, while Main Timeline Gero chose the second.

Android 17 and 18. Such a tragic story. Kidnapped. Made into Androids. Waking up with no purpose in life except for Goku. Android 17 acknowledges this as they seem to have no purpose beyond that. Fun how one goes on to become a wildlife protector and the other gets married and has a child. The implementation of Cell and their saving and resurrection by Z fighters are the only reason they don't just become future trunks versions again.

It was a stark contrast to our 18's line of "fun is for humans." Freed from her programming by Goku's death, they desperately sought fun to regain their humanity. To see that future 18 sees fun as worth while, means to me that she's beyond sadness and a lack of purpose, and has lapsed into madness in seek of her lost humanity.

Like almost every other love story in Dragon Ball. Even counting fillers and movies, there is not much more, because Toriyama don't like to focus on that. About Toei Animation and their horrendous fillers and movies, in this last years apparently they realized that a lot of people likes romance in this series, that's why they put a bit more love or, at least, couple cooperation scenes, especially in the cases of Bulma & Vegeta, 18 & Krillin, and Mai & Trunks.

It's interesting that in the main timeline, 17 and 18 canonically killed less people than Vegeta did. Even during their arc (he is responsible for all of the deaths in 18's fight) he killed more than them. The main timeline ones were at best neutral to the Z fighters. I'd love to have seen how the saga had continued with Goku and them fighting. Maybe they'd have become main characters, never being able to beat Goku but finding purpose in fighting with him. They'd become friendly rivals, like Vegeta at the time.

I assume she can but just doesn't? Pretty much every character with Ki can do like anything they want that other characters can, they just don't because everyone just specializes in different stuff. That's why she also does a barrier in Dragonball FighterZ (not that that officially means she can do it in the anime or manga).

So essentially Android 18 isn't an android. She was biologically morphed, so the dragon couldn't change anything about her to 'fix' her. Luckily, through the power of LOVE she isn't murderous anymore.

@@vj7248 yeah... it's complicated, but in short, a hybrid Android. No. 17 & 18 have the functions of an Android, but it was only a modified addition to their system. Like, somewhere around their head?, there's the biotech that gave them their limitless powers; but the mouth, nose, ears, and lower part of the body (etc) probably still functions like a normal person. I think? Aside from that, their skin was also enhanced by biotech to be stronger and tougher to take on heavy hits and survive. This doesn't make them immune to all dmg, so they can still get a broken bone in their body from accumulated dmg in a longer fight, but last longer in a battle.

@@MysteryS4869 Not 'hybrid android'. The term is 'cyborg'. Their bodies are mostly organic, just enhanced via cellular modification. The only true cybernetics installed into them were their bombs (which Krillin removed) and their energy reactors (which give them their infinite energy).

How come Cell never went back to original form? Cell should be in beetle form instead of the perfect form. The Z-fighters wished the twins back being human right? Either way they were wished back , so why wouldn't that make Cell revert back to original form, or is it just an accident type thing?

Oh, the timeline is like this: Gohan punched Perfect Cell -> Cell regurgitated 18 -> Return to semi perfect form -> Motherf*cker chose to become a living bomb out of a sore loser’s pure spite -> Goku teleported him to King Kai’s place to make it a three-ways suicide rather than a 7.2 billion-ways one -> Goku and King Kai died while Semi Perfect Cell got blown to bits, but his core remained -> The Namekian regeneration gene kicked in, which also triggered the Saiyan ‘I’mma get a power up when I healed from intense injuries, the dead-er I was, the stronger I become’ gene, so he returned to Perfect Cell form with that power boost… oh wait, Mister Super Kami Guru God Plus Ultra Perfect Cell form or something like that -> Got killed talking some mad shit, well, he did it his way I guess -> The Z warriors revived those who died and removed 18’s bomb. 17 never got vomited so Cell never returned to the original/mature form.

@@smokeynh5916 so was 18 inside cell for most of the cell games? How did she moved on when she thought of herself as a powerful android and in the next hour was swallowed and sucked whole by cell during which we clearly hear her screaming and crying
