Wait. How could you miss out on mentioning anything about Qatar. It has the largest American military base in the Middle East in Al-Udeid Air Base just west of Doha. It is the country sitting on the nexus between the West and Tehran, has an overseas office for Hamas and Taliban. It’s the key interlocutor for hostage release.

Almost all American bases in the world are asked for by the host countries, the only countries that dont want them are Syria and Iraq. America establishes bases surrounding its enemies and the host country gets the benefit of US military protection if attacked, we can see in the South China sea and China, Russia and Ukraine, Israel and Iran, North Korea and South Korea.

Soliemani helped the us army to get rid of ISIS and that’s why ISIS bombed his memorial ceremony few days ago. The us then knew how powerful is Soleimani as he knew how to coordinate groups in that region and when they didn’t need him again, they killed him. Also if you are interested to know more, watch a doc called coup 53 and how it shaped Iran and the region to this day.

WSJ forgot to explain the difference between Sunni and Shia, which is important in understanding Iran's connections to all these groups and others, except Hamas, which is a Sunni group. That is an important consideration. Why would a Sunni group be tied to a Shia regional power? For example, while Turkey, Egypt and Jordan are Sunni countries, Iran is Shia. It is an important distinction, for the US and Israel single-handedly seem to be managing to unify Sunni and Shia, a quite remarkable feat since it has rarely happened.

Hamas and the greater Muslim Brotherhood movement are aligned with Iran based on their shared goal to topple US backed regional governments (lsraeI, Saudi, UAE, Bahrain, Jordan, Egypt, Kuwait). The Muslim brotherhood and Iran are in a marriage of convenience.

@@abulhassan3697 I'll let the AI explain it. The US has been active in the Middle East for several decades, mainly to protect its national security interests and to support its regional allies. Some of the main reasons for US involvement in the Middle East are: To prevent a hostile power from controlling the region’s oil reserves and using them as a weapon against the US and its allies1. To deter and counter threats from Iran, which has been pursuing nuclear weapons and supporting proxy groups that destabilize the region23. To fight against terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda and ISIS, which have launched attacks on the US and its partners, and to prevent them from establishing safe havens in the region24. To promote peace and stability among the countries in the region, especially between Israel and its Arab neighbors, and to resolve conflicts through diplomacy12. To foster economic and security integration among the US partners in the region, such as the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the GCC+3, and to enhance their cooperation on global challenges such as climate change, food security, and health1. To uphold human rights and democratic values in the region, and to support the aspirations of the people for political and social reforms23. These are some of the general reasons for US involvement in the Middle East, but they may vary depending on the specific context and situation. The US also faces many challenges and trade-offs in pursuing its interests and goals in the region, and its policies and strategies may change over time.

Sure, you can claim that one was secretly thwarted but that still means the public has no evidence it ever happened. America must wean itself off of fossil fuels with clean energy. High oil prices funds our foreign adversaries. We must also keep pumping to drive down the prices. They are synergistic policies, not conflicting.

There is no source of electricity that is not dependent on fossil fuels. Steel, cement, synthetic materials, cables, packaging of parts during transport and so on - they all rely on fossil fuels. Also solar and wind energy means just more dependence on China which holds monopoly on rare materials. Your continent should invest in nuclear energy as much as possible.
@godblessthelessfortunate3175

@@Michal_Sobczyk Just as it takes money to make money, it takes fossil fuels to make clean energy. Focus on the delta gained at the end, not the cost of doing business. We tried nuclear energy and still have it, but new plants are a non starter. No one wants it and the radioactive waste in their backyard.

Yes, you should have done that in the 60's, instead of burying the EV's. But all that you have said, moving energy to one unified supply form (cable electrical lines), also requires upgrading the infrastructure, which is going to be enormously expensive. There are no easy solutions and the US president (present one) has massively accelerated the need for transition, when the US was already running out of time.

@@Michal_Sobczyk I agree to an extent. Just as it takes money to make money, it takes energy to make clean energy hardware. That's why it's critical to compare the DELTA gained over the lifecycle. I'm certain clean energy comes out way ahead in its lifecycle. Atomic energy is a non starter in the US. No one wants it in their backyard.
